Done it, yes you do lose weight but I don't reckon it is a healthy long-term lifestyle. Gave me spots and bad breath and bad constipation. Only managed 2 weeks on it as I gave in to cravings and started getting headaches.

I found weight watchers the most effective long term weight loss programme and I never really felt like I had to 'miss out' on too much.

need something fast....otherwise i just give up.

On most proper diets if done properly you can expect to lose 1/2 stone at least in 2 weeks, some people obviously lose less and some can lose even more depending on how much you have to lose.

Also it's not a healthy diet especially for the liver. Have a look Here it actually says reasons against = initial loss of water returns quickly. I've actually tried it and greasy bacon and eggs for breakfast and double cream instead of milk in coffee, yummy! Not!! After a week or so of bacon and egg, no fruit, limited veg, no bulk of the carbs to a meal you soon feel hungry again. I found it bleugh!

Down the left hand side is a list of other diets and what they entail.

What a good website furball, will have to have a good browse through that. You are also right, the idea of Atkins sounds delicious but in reality the thought of eating another fry-up minus the carbs becomes unbearable.

can you get it from the library?

If not, don't panic. What about the kelloggs diet (very easy to fit it into your life!) you have a bowl of cereal for breakfast and a bowl for dinner and a sensible healthy evening meal. plus if you drink 2 litres of WATER a day and try and fit in at least a 15-20 minutes brisk walk you will be well on your way!

oldandfat · 01/02/2006 13:24

already got the book, i meant the diet is so expensive. organic everything and loads of out of season fruit and veg? could give the cereal one a go. will check it out. thanks

Forgot to say, you should only do the kelloggs diet for 2 weeks to give you a kick start!

oldandfat · 01/02/2006 13:30
