To join or not to join WeightWatchers?

I want to join my local WeightWatchers which a couple of my mum friends go to, and when I mentioned it their immediate reaction was " Hmm Why? You don't need to". They gave me the distinct impression that I was simply not big enough and there was no point me going. My sister did WW very successfully but was made to feel very unwelcome as she didn't look big to them (a tall sz16), and she warned me I might get the same reaction.
My son is nearly a year old and I can't seem to shift the weight, am currently a size 14 and nearly two stone over my previous weight, none of my clothes fit, my maternity stuff is now too big (I was a 16) and my pre-preg stuff is too small (was a 10/12).
Frankly I feel like I have just as much right to join WW as anyone else, but will I really get evils from everyone like my sis warns? I don't want to spend the money then feel I'm not welcome, I feel rubbish enough as it is. Please advise!
First post btw.

I'm a WW helper and tbh I have seen a few people have a slight attitude but generally everyone is very friendly and we have lots of people join who aren't very big. We had a new member today who weighed 8st 1bs. Ultimately everyone if there for the same reason we're all unhappy with our weight. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Thank you Whitershade for being honest, I had wondered if my sis was being over sensitive, so was dismayed to have my friends react like that! Good to hear they're not the majority, i'll prob go along and find everyone's lovely! :)

Hi, I'm in a similar situation. I have 1.5st of baby weight to lose but I'm already in healthy range so people think I'm mad. I want to be the best weight for me though, and for my clothes to fit. I'm 40 this year and feel its important not to let the extra pounds sit.

I joined WW online because it's more convenient for me, but also because I feel I would get funny looks etc at a meeting.

GL with your weight loss!

Thanks Jnice! I've decided to try the meeting, it might be absolutely fine, and if it isn't then you're right, there's always the online option.
