I started working hard to lose weight at the start of December and have lost two stone. Want to shift at least another four. But I can feel my motivation slipping so please share your best tips for not quitting :-(

Two stone in two months is amazing!

Why do you want to lose another four stone? How/what do you imagine yourself looking, wearing and doing at that weight? How will your life be better than now?

MyChildDoesntNeedSleep · 03/02/2012 22:54

What did you say to yourself to get into the frame of mind where you were able to lose the two stone?

loflo · 03/02/2012 22:59

I need to shift more weight. Plenty more to dispose of. I guess I kidded myself for a long time that I wasn't that fat. But I am Sad I have lost my mojo but not sure where to find it!

I think it's difficult because it's soooo cold at the moment. I am coming to the end of week 3 of trying to lose 6 stone & have felt much better after my (hot) evening meal the last couple of days.

Keep going, you don't want to undo what you've achieved so far (particularly losing during
the chris.tmas season. You've lost a third of what you're aiming for. Set your next mini goal is the only advice I have.

Rooble · 04/02/2012 17:42

Loflo I just came on here about to start a thread - how do I re-motivate myself? - because I feel exactly the same right now. Have to agree about the cold. I always feel way better if all my meals are hot and filling (porridge, then risotto, then maybe jacket potato and stew) and less inclined to warm myself up with a snack between meals.
Have you considered changing whatever diet you're following - just to give yourself something new to concentrate on?
The thing I'm finding hard in the cold weather is that I find it easy not to snack when I'm out and about but more difficult when alone at home, but when it's cold I don't really want to think up errands just to be out.
Sorry I'm wittering.
Could you set yourself some smaller objectives with rewards? Your 2 stones must really be visible - and deffo need dressing differently - could you promise yourself something lovely to wear when you reach the next stone? Because even if you manage a stone a month (that is a LOT btw) four months is quite a long time. Whereas with one month there's an end in sight!
Sorry not sure if that was helpful at all, really just wanted to let you know you're not alone!

Well done Loflo, your results are amazing you must be really in tune with your body and doing everything right.
Don't eat everything, I know it is cold but in a couple of months it won't be and you will have lost even more weight by then. When you want to eat something naughty think of yourself in the spring/early summer knocking everyone dead in your lovely new clothes.
Don't eat everything. Buy yourself some nice magazines, candles, nail varnish and bubble bath and flick through some catalogues for summer clothes.
You can do it.

Fluffy1234 · 04/02/2012 18:23

Good luck to you to Rooble.

Rooble · 04/02/2012 19:04

Thanks Fluffy. I'm pathetically, shallowly excited about nice spring clothes!

Fluffy1234 · 04/02/2012 19:06

How often do you get a whole new wardrobe , everything matching and the perfect size?

loflo · 04/02/2012 20:32

Aw thank you all for positiveness Smile I think I need to cut myself some slack and stop thinking about how much four stone is to shift and to focus on smaller goals. Have had a day today to fall off the wagon a bit (first one since the 1st December) and will get right back on tomorrow.

For what it's worth DH and I decided to lose the extra weight and we've both lost a good bit this month by cutting our portions down (not by much) and having very little starch. So instead of rice, potatoes or pasta we'll have some veg or a feed of nice salad, with home made dressing to make it interesting. I'm really enjoying it, and I do feel a lot better seeing the scales drop each week. I've lost half a stone. DH is also swimming like a maniac and he's lost more, but I'd rather wax my eyelashes than endure drafty changing rooms. Good luck and don't you dare stop now when you've done so much. oh and DRINK WATER.

loflo · 04/02/2012 22:13

Thanks will keep at it - thanks again y'all Grin

Just thought of another one: 12 months ago I was reasonably fit given my age and weight. Today I realised that I have spent four hours running repeatedly up a hill with a sledge and not thought twice about it. It's a fabulous feeling when your body can do what it's supposed to again. Plus so nice not to always be the one needing an excuse to take a break
