Hey, I'm on my first week of slimming world and wondered if there were any others giving it a go?

I can't find any recent threads about it but if there are any could someone link me?

Thanks.

There's a few of us here who are doing SW, WW, low carbing etc. Join in if you like. Smile

Icelollycraving · 29/01/2012 18:09

How are you finding it? I'm going to join on Wednesday!

TooManyButtons · 29/01/2012 23:40

I've just finished my third week - I've lost 13.5 lbs so far :-)

Icelollycraving · 30/01/2012 05:32

Well done buttons!

covermeup · 30/01/2012 11:37

I've been doing SW since October. Lost 17lbs up til Christmas and then put a few on and now I've lost those. It's a very easy diet to follow and can be incorporated into normal family meals easily. Also, if you want to allow yourself some treats at the weekend it's easy to get back on track on a Monday and you will still lose weight! I don't go to group or anything, just get the magazines and follow those. Good luck and ask any questions here! You will be able to pick up some good tips to help you!

SweetieDoesIt · 30/01/2012 12:12

I am joining my local group tonight. Will let you know how it goes. Have always done weight watchers in the past so hope I can get my head around it.

GirlWithPointyShoes · 30/01/2012 16:46

If I am doing it right then I am finding it great! I haven't been hungry since I started and am eating more fruit and veg than I have in a long time.

My first weigh in is on Thursday so fingers crossed!

OP posts:
covermeup · 31/01/2012 16:22

It does feel too good to be a real diet doesn't it! The things you are allowed to eat really do fill you up so you're not left feeling depressed and hungry! Your sound like you're doing really well. What kind of things have you been cooking?

GirlWithPointyShoes · 31/01/2012 16:57

Well there were some chicken breasts on offer so I have had those with regular/sweet potato wedges and heaps of veg. I'm thinking about doing the online Goulash recipe tonight.

I had also forgotten how much I love things like fruit and beans. Honestly I love nothing more than dunking a banana into a toffee mullerlight now. Much better than a bag of malteasers or a piece of cake.

OP posts:
covermeup · 31/01/2012 22:57

Yes, muller lights are brilliant. Be aware that a couple have syns (the ones with chocolate in) but the rest are all free. They are great to use for desserts/smoothies, etc. keep an eye out in supermarkets for when they are on offer. They are very expensive individually but there will always be one supermarket that has them as 10 for £3 or something! It's sainsburys this week!

GirlWithPointyShoes · 02/02/2012 21:44

Just back from my meeting and I have lost 4lbs! I am delighted because I actually thought I had gained weight due to the amount of food I had been eating :o.

Anyone else still at it?

ledkr · 02/02/2012 21:50

ill join you, shall we keep this thread going as i find the other one a bit big.I have been loosely following it and have lost some weight i am going to go for it more strictly on Monday.Im trying to lose the 2 stone i have left from my 5th baby a year ago.It would be nice to swap recipe and meal ideas.
Well done on the weight loss btw, great start.

SweetieDoesIt · 03/02/2012 07:50

Well done Girl that is a great result. Thanks

I stepped on my home scales this morning (4 days since starting the plan) and look to be on for a good result too. I joined on Monday and have been AMAZED how much I have eaten. It is mostly fresh fruit and vedg, I had to pop to ASDA to restock yesterday!! It is costing me a fortune but worth it if it has the desired result. Plus you know it is only good stuff going in so that has to be a positive.

Ledkr we had chilli & rice last night made with the ASDA tinned vedg chilli (which is free) and then added extra lean mince, mushrooms, sliced peppers, onions & tinned tomatoes. Served with boiled rice. It was lovely. I have some left for lunch today too, nom nom nom Grin

I am planning to do fish pie at the weekend so I will let you know how that goes too. Anyone else got any good recipes?

ledkr · 03/02/2012 14:51

I make a lot of curries with dried spices and tinned toms and chick peas or lentils, spinach and chicken it amazing and i dodnt feel deprived at all.
Have yet another cold so will admit to being a bit lax today,i had good bfast and lunch but a bit snacky in between, now i think abaout it it wasnt that bad actually,a two fingered kit kat and two nice biscuits.
Have also dont the shred most days this week and am walking a lot.
My jeans feel big but i still wouldnt try my 14's as id be depressed Grin

GirlWithPointyShoes · 03/02/2012 16:35

Hey everyone and thanks. You all sound like you are doing great!

A word to the wise, If like me you don't really like melons but was the SS value DO NOT blend it and drink. Erugh it was horrible... I think I'll stick to strawberries :o.

Hi everyone you all sound like you're doing great! I joined sw on Tuesday so this is my first week, have been really good so far but going to the PTA quiz tonight at the dc's school and there is a fish and chip supper included :-/ and I'm vege so I will just get a portion of chips! Oops!

GirlWithPointyShoes · 03/02/2012 18:59

17.5 syns for your chips! If they have mushy peas get loads of those because they are free or take some fruit with you to eat before the chips.

Just enjoy yourself and and be extra good tomorrow! I went to dinner with my MIL on Saturday and defiantly went over my syns limit because the pesky lovely manager gave us a free bottle of wine after we had already had a bottle! :o We both just had a lower amount of syns on Sunday and Monday.

SweetieDoesIt · 03/02/2012 19:20

Ladies I have to share to lovely dinner we just had, I was super and FREE.

I give you Fish Pie
pre-heat oven at 200C
boiled potatoes mashed
2 boiled eggs (boiled in with potatoes) cut into quarters
fish chunks (I used salmon, cod & smoked hoddock)
poached in vedg stock (I used Knorr Stock pot) for about 5 mins
save poaching liquid to mix with fat free plain yogurt (didn't need all of liquid about half)
place poached fish in oven dish with egg quarters
pour over stock/yogurt sauce then layer mash on top
oven bake for 30 mins

DH even went back for second and he isn't that keen on fish!!! It was nice though. Grin

GirlWithPointyShoes · 04/02/2012 21:00

Ooooh that sounds lovely! Do you think it would be easy to freeze?

OP posts:
SweetieDoesIt · 05/02/2012 16:06

I am not sure about freezing the fish pie, especially with cooked fish. I am a bit funny about things like that in case it isn't recooked properly.

I have struggled to eat enough Super Free foods this weekend. I take fruit to work for snacks in the week but don't tend to have snacks so much at weekends. I hope it doesn't effect my weight loss tomorrow evening at weight in. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Huffpot · 06/02/2012 12:05

Hi, well done everyone. I am also trying to do slimming world on my own for a few weeks and then try to get to a meeting. I have a stone to lose, but my motivation is zero after a couple of weeks. I seem to have got into the habit of eating all day long. This is not always 'bad' food, as a lot of the time it is fruit and activia fat free yogurt or muller lights, but I would like to eat three meals and stop picking. Can someone please tell me If I have 28g of porridge for breakfast as a HE B, can I have a sesame ryvita crisp bread along with this, which means that the two together is still just one HE B? Does that make sense?

Anyone that does go to a meeting, is your leader really good for coming up with ideas for lunches etc., the leader I had never really came up with any, but was only interested in the weekend and personal lives of some of the members, I felt I was just waiting to hear her tell my weight loss or gain to the group which I obviously knew already, and then went home as in alphabetical order, I would usually be last. If this is the normal procedure I know I would feel more support from everyone here rather than at a meeting. Thanks.

Concordia · 22/02/2012 11:10

hi, i just started slimmingworld last week. i don't know the answers to your questions assumpta but would like to as lunches are hard if you need to take them out with you and can't have bread and i too wondered if i could have a very small portion of cereal and thin slice of bread combined to make a healthy extra (as they were both half amounts).
i thought that the meeting i went to was quite weak to, but obviously i've only been once so i'll see how it goes.
i seem to be losing though, 4lb so far in 6 days Grin
