I decided yesterday that I had to do something. I need to lose 2 stone (if honest prob more) but that's my aim.

I would really like to avoid doing a diet like ww/sw etc as I think I need to train myself to eat normally as it were. I have booked a free consultation with a hypnotherapist. I can eat quite normally but since having the kids I seem to have abandoned 3 meals a day in favour of junk food and obscene amounts of chocolate. I do eat evening meal with the family. But I seem to forgo breakfast then when I get back from school run eat junk. I know I comfort/anger/stress eat and do not want to.

Exercise is going to be a problem as I still have one dc at home til sept, I can't swim but am considering looking at exercise classes...

Anyway I weigh 11stone 13.5 oz as of yesterday.

Tues - 2 weetabix with ss milk, tuna, sweetcorn and pasta with a little bit of mayo, an apple, dinner was beans on toast. 3cups of tea with sweetner.

Wed - special k with ss milk, left over tuna pasta from yest. 1cup of tea with sweetner and a go ahead bar.... Dinner is chicken, broccoli, carrots and peas.

Dinners are easy for me as we eat together 4 nights so that is healthy, on the other 3 I am going to get in some low fat ready meals to make it easier and some bags of steam veg.... Hopefully that will stop me just throwing a pizza in.

It's lunchtimes I am struggling with, was thinking of revita and cottage cheese tomorrow. The hardest thing with not loosing a diet is knowing how much I can have.

Sorry have realised this is lengthy

Hi UH

I think you can do both, do a slimming programme and train yourself to eat normally.

I have only been doing WW for about 10 days and this is my first ever diet but I now know that my portion control was way wrong. I ate heathily but just ate as much as my 6ft DH who has a BMI in the obese range. Therefore I was always going to put on weight. We are still eating the same meals as we were before but are now correctly portioning and eating way more veg. We still have had curry and KFC in those 10 days but we have worked out what we could have based on what we had eaten that day. I do it online and am finding it much simpler than I thought. I watched my DM do WW for years and it was like another language to me. Now it just makes sense as it helps you to portion control and eat the right foods in the right proportion. HTH

"Tues - 2 weetabix with ss milk, tuna, sweetcorn and pasta with a little bit of mayo, an apple, dinner was beans on toast. 3cups of tea with sweetner."

Breakfast ok, but could do with more protein in diet overall - overall quite carb and wheat heavy (ie wheat at each meak!) and you need much more vegetables.

Wed - special k with ss milk, left over tuna pasta from yest. 1cup of tea with sweetner and a go ahead bar.... Dinner is chicken, broccoli, carrots and peas.

Special k actually high in sugar not a great choice. Dinner is good.

Lunchtime - go for a salad with cottage cheese or fish? Or omelette?

re: quantities good to weigh the food for first week or so and log on myfitnesspal to see portion sizes.

My diet tip of the day ssems to be this:
Choose a reasonable sized plate. Fill a third to a half of it with veg, and split the rest between protein and carb (pasta, rice, potato etc). I've put this on 3 threads today - it's basically what SW boils down to.
Also: cut sugary foods down/out. Use very low fat dairy products.
Try to take some exercise (20 min brisk walk at least) every day.

Good luck!
