I went to my gp for something unrelated and he asked to weigh me. The scales didnt go high enough. The needle went straight past the last marker (i think it was 23 st) and kept on going. I was mortified.

QuietOhSoQuiet · 20/01/2012 12:05

my clothes were far too tight and uncomfortable plus looked bloody awful to be honest,I no longer have a job, family budget quite tight at the moment therefore do not want to waste money on new clothes when already have a perfectly acceptable wardrobe so it was either do something about it or live in clothes that really are too small (am pretty positive a top that is supposed to be hip length but as too small rides up to crop top length when walking dog is really not a good look Blush for a mid 40s woman)

Therefore I have taken myself in hand and am surprised in 2 weeks how just a few small changes have made such a difference, motivator for me.

nearlyfinisheduni · 20/01/2012 13:16

I think thats the thing I dont have a lot money either and its also depressing buying clothes that i look rubbish in! You're right about a few weeks making a difference, i'm sure once i got into the swing of healthy eating again and started to feel better that i wouldnt want to eat rubbish!!

I was watching 'The Chawners' on TV.

mollycuddles · 20/01/2012 22:36

When pg with dd2 I was considered high risk because of my weight. All was fine and I did eat healthily when pg so put on very little. I stood on the scales the morning after she was born and just thought "enough is enough". I have to work to raise and educate her so I need to be healthy. I want her and dd1 to have a positive view on body image and health. It started as something I was doing for my dcs but now I'm so much healthier and feel great so it's about me. But the first step was about them as I was so trapped in self loathing that I just didn't care enough to do it for me

fatlazymummy · 21/01/2012 18:26

I was at a funeral, and could barely fasten up my size 18 black trousers [I am only 5' 3'']. I also noticed that I was the only fat person in the family. Last but not least, I am 51, my Dad had his 1st heart attack at age 52, and died age 60. I don't want that to be me.

hermioneweasley · 21/01/2012 18:28

GP weighed me for regular pill check. Pointed out my weight kept going in one direction and I would soon have a BMI over 30 at going rate. How's look was never enough motivation to lose weight, but health was. I want to be healthy for me and my family.

MorrisZapp · 21/01/2012 20:16

I got a fab denim skirt on eBay but its 'small for size' (I tell myself). It's way too tight on me. By summer I want to wear it happily and comfortably.

Trying on clothes before Xmas with rear view mirrors and fluorescent lighting... oh my life.

GoingForGoalWeight · 21/01/2012 20:47

At my starting weight, this year on 1/1/13, weight of 26 stones 11lb (i was 17 stones 2lb, christmas 2011), i knew i had to take charge or die.
I did not want a gastric bypass. I have done the damage, i have to reverse it myself.

No confidence, obsessed with feeling a failure, not even enjoying my food as i realised i was killing myself. I finally booked my holiday on 10/1/13 and i will get to around 13 stones for that in October, i will still be overweight but i will get to my goal weight of around 11 stones at Christmas. Then I'll fall in love with exercise.

MumPotNoodle · 22/01/2012 09:30

Quiet, can I ask what changes you have made?

QuietOhSoQuiet · 22/01/2012 11:14

mum I have reduced the amount of carbs I eat as I was eating far too many and I feel far less bloated without eating bread/pasta a lot.

I have started on "The shred" and because it's only 20 mins a day it's achievable and I am not thinking oh god.I now have the starts of my abs back :o

When walking the dog I am making sure I walk faster than I would usually.

Cutting down on my major vice of a couple of glasses of vino a night,I actually went online to look at how many calories are in it Blush and have completely cut beer/cider at the weekends

MumPotNoodle · 22/01/2012 11:32

Thanks for the reply, all seems sensible and doable, well apart from the shred Grin. Start my new regime tomorrow, gives me one more evening on the wine and nibbles Blush.

Seriously. This is the BEST weight loss aid I have found in a lifetime. Watch 'The Chawners' Last Chance' on Bio, and you will lose weight and have a tidier house. I have spent two weeks de-Chawnifying my house, and lost 6lb in a desperate bid to NEVER get like this.
