What I've eaten today

I've heard it's good to keep a food diary and I quite like writing down what I've eaten, but I thought it would be better to write it on a thread, then others can do it too - we can contrast and compare. There might already be a thread on here where you can write what you eat, I've had a look and can't find one. Any one want to join me? Today I've had:

Breakfast: bowl of All Bran
Snack: A slice of cake (someone's birthday)
Lunch: small bowl of homemade lentil soup and low fat yogurt
baked potato with salad, cheese and coleslaw and low fat yogurt with banana

Lots of coffee throughout the day

I don't plan to eat anything else tonight. I'll be back tomorrow - even if I'm just telling myself what I've eaten. Smile

Probably better to do this on myfitnesspal, its made for keeping a food diary and counts up calories and exercise - go to the myfitnesspal thread to get lots of myfitnesspal friends who will look and your diary and comment.

re: what you ate, too many carbs esp high GI ones and not enough protein and not really enough fruit or veg (unless soup full of veg). And caffeine to suppress your appetite.

what is myfitnesspal? Thanks forever, I didn't really think about all the carbs. I'm veggie and I'm often constipated and the only thing that keeps me regular is all bran, so there's no way I'm cutting that out. I do eat lots of veg, the soup was lentil but the main ingredient was mixed fresh veg.

Oh, and my salad was a lovely fresh salad with rocket, cucumber, red peppers, tomatoes, mange toute, raw mushrooms. Coleslaw too, that's veg isn't it? Albiet, with mayo or whatever it is they put in it.

Special k with berries. Semi skimmed milk

Tiny portion of tuna pasta with some sticks of celery and an apple

Banana and 2 small satsumas

Bagel and 2 bowls of home made veg soup

4 coffees through the day

GypsyMoth · 16/01/2012 22:12

And a boiled egg for a snack!!

foreverondiet · 16/01/2012 22:13

www.myfitnesspal.com totally fab free website, keep food diary, chat to others, befriend people, ask people to comment on your food diary etc etc. See how many calories.

re: protein, yes much harder if veggie, but I have eggs every day, plus I love quorn (mince and chicken style pieces). Soya also good source of veggie protein. Other pulses do have some protein but more carbs, same with dairy, and bananas very carby compared to other veg.

Ok, I'm signed up to it now. How bloody marvellous. I logged my cals for today and too many and that's me practically starving myself. Well, cake bumped it up a bit. I do love it. I'll be obsessed now. I don't normally eat banana but really fancied one today. I love soya and quorn too.

There is a myfitnesspal thread running on here! I am a bit obsessed but its a very useful tool for seeing how much you are eating!

re: calories depends on portion size, but cake, coleslaw, cheese and jacket potato all quite calorific and to me not really diet food (well maybe small jacket) but with cottage cheese!
