I really really need to loose 1stone :(

I don't want to do a fad diet as have done them all before and hate them, also I don't think its good for the metabolism.

So really I'm looking for tips and encouragement.

I'm think exercise 2-3times per week, portion control and snack on fruit instead of choc and cake.

Do you think doing all this will equal 2lbs weight lost per week? If so it will only take 7weeks to loose 1 stone :) sounds easy but doesn't feel it right now.

Cut out sugar and make sure your all of your meals are half veg, one quarter protein and one quarter carbs. Try and get in some extra walking on top of whatever exercise you're planning, stuff like getting off the bus a couple of stops early or parking a couple of streets away all adds up.

Yes agree with queen you could also look at the paul Mckenna way of eating (it's not a diet) it just changes your attitude to food and it WORKS. i've lost 3 stone on it and you can pick it up whenever you need to.

I would suggest trying to cut back on bread and other options for snacks are small portions of lean protein as I find these more satisfying than some other foods.

Thank you for the suggestions :)

Ppeat - is it easy to do? I took the book out of the library a few months ago and didnt bother 2 read it. Do you have to listen to the dvd every night?

About 2 months ago I went for 2 hyponsos sessions and I did eat less food and much much less choc, but it only lasted about 2 weeks :(

I'm trying to lose 2 stone of baby weight. I think a lot is about portion control and balancing protein and carbs. I'm also trying not to eat whilst doing other things (except breakfast, as otherwise I would end up skipping it). I think grazing is a big problem in weight gain.

I also don't think fruit is great for snacking. Fruit is high in sugar, so if you end up eating loads you won't lose weight. I guess it depends whether you are talking one afternoon apple or 3-4 per day.

2lb per week is quite high really. I'd expect more like 1lb after the first couple of weeks.

I really do have a problem balancing protein and carbs. I eat very little protein, as I don't eat fish or chicken so I struggle to find non fatty protein. Any suggestions? :)

Ham
Venison
Greek yoghurt
Plain fromage frais
Cottage cheese

Oh, and beans can count as both your protein and carb in a meal so if you made a bean stew or soup you wouldn't need any other protein or carb in it.
