I have about 10 stone to lose now. I have already lost 3 stone, in 3 months, with Slimming World. I've now started running (on the C25K thread) which is boosting my weight loss even more.

I would say- how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.

Good luck!

SW weight loss can be really fast. It's an easy programme to stick to and well worth considering. I think there are offers on joining at the moment.

I found the first few weeks a bit tricky, adjusting to the new regime but once my body got used to the low fat diet and I got organised with menus and things it was really fine. It hasn't been that hard, and I feel so much healthier and happier as well, oddly. Would definitely recommend SW to anyone.

i've lost 11 stone, did it counting calories and exercise (walking) took 2 years, i went from size 28 to size 10/12.

smackapacca · 13/01/2012 12:45

That's amazing ilove Did you break it up into smaller goals? How did you keep motivated?

ilovethewinchesterbrothers · 14/01/2012 20:05

i didn't really have a goal weight that i wanted to get to (i did it on my own-no classes or anything) i just thought i'd drop a dress size then sort of got hooked on the fact i was actually doing it. the exercise helped alot as when i first started i could only walk at a fast(ish) rate for 4 songs on mp3 player then i tried to get to the end of the next one and so on. i was well pleased when i got to half an hour of songs.

Debka, are you a Slimpodder by any chance? :)

hi
I have 6 stones to lose at least and it just seems such an unsurmountable task.I would appreciate any motivational startegies anyone has.

QueenStromba · 17/01/2012 11:18

I'm half way through losing about 6 stone. The way I've stayed sane is by splitting it up into lots of smaller goals. I've celebrated every half stone, every stone, even crossing from say 190 to 189 pounds. I've never focussed on the bigger picture, just getting to my next little milestone.

Finding a diet you enjoy also helps - I'm doing something similar to Atkins which is great for me since I love bacon and cheese more than I like bread and potatoes.

fivegomadindorset · 17/01/2012 11:20

I have 8+ to lose, 8 realistically 9 would be nice. Just started SW, but a bit Shock about how much food you can eat, so will see how it pans out.

ilovethewinchesterbrothers · 17/01/2012 22:37

i looked (and still do-i'm working on loosing the last 13 pounds) at my calorie allowance like money and was what i wanted to eat 'worth' the amount of 'money' like is a bag of crisps worth 150(ish) or could i get more for my 'money' if i made a different choice. i have learnt that some foods for me are not a good choice as i can't just have a little bit i want more and more if i've had a taste but if i don't have them at all i don't want them.
good luck to you all with loosing weight.
