Hi
I started a six week coundown on Wed. I am doing extra easy too. I don't know how it is going to work I am eating massive meals. Have you done SW before?

Lynli · 07/01/2012 22:01

I have been doing slimming world for a year, I have lost 4 stone.

As long as you are sticking to the plan it will work. I certainly never ate this much before I started.

FriendofDorothy · 07/01/2012 22:08

I am away at the moment but we be back on plan from Monday. I can't wait - I have put on lots of weight over Christmas!

Moti · 07/01/2012 22:09

I got a free slimming world booklet with the mirror today. Had a read of it and I was rather shocked, it advises you to eat as much free food as you like. For example, chicken breast and potatoes are free food. I would put weight on if i ate as much potato and chicken as I wished.

Lynli · 07/01/2012 22:13

You have to have one third of the plate fruit or veg. When you start the plan you have quite big meals, but you find that as your blood sugar levels stabalise you naturally eat less.

Everyone that starts it feels the same, but it does work.

I don't calorie count, but if I do tot them up out of interest it is usually 1200 to 1400 a day.

FriendofDorothy · 07/01/2012 22:14

I bet you wouldn't. I was surprised especially at the fact you are allowed to eat unlimited potatoes. The meat has to be skinless and fatless and not cooked in fat, that is the only proviso. I lost weight every week I stuck to plan.

Please come and join us

Some of us climbing back onto the wagon and rejoining the shiney halo-ed folk who stuck to SW and lost weight over the festive period.

It's true that you never need to be hungry on SW and you will lose weight if you follow the (fairly straightforward) rules Smile

Lightshines · 07/01/2012 22:20

Been doing SW since July, lost 3 stone.
I did not expect the diet to work and it took me a few weeks to get the hang of it - but it does work if you stick to it.
It seems to involve miminal fat, limited sugar and very little in the way of processed foods.

wildstrawberryplace · 07/01/2012 22:31

Moti believe me, you'd soon feel that you couldn't face it, chicken without skin and cooked without fat, and potatoes plain boiled or jacket with no butter etc...the novelty of "unlimited" soon wears off.

feeling negative and in the throes of sugar blues

I never get fed up of eating free food! There are so many fabulous recipes out there!

supermummmy · 12/01/2012 15:47

I started slimming world on the 3rd of jan and at my first weigh in i lost 4lb. I could not believe it as i atye so much and i had it in my mind that carbs made you fat. I exercise 3 to 4 times a week and started to do walking as i drive every where. I have a gym memebership but am trying to do this on a budget. So i go to varouse classes at the momment its zumba, body pump, spinning and a four mile walk i alternate them. I have tried loads of diets where i am starved and put all the weight back on but i find this one the easiest yet.The only thing is that it takes a week or so to truly understand it . I know that the loss may take a while but trust me the slowler the loss the harder it is to put it back on.And i am sure you will not have any bad side effects such as hair loss.

LaFilleSurLePont · 12/01/2012 18:52

I'm doing Extra Easy too. I just joined last week, had my second weigh in today and I've lost 3 1/2 lbs. I'm very happy with that.

Potatoes are unlimited in theory, but as 2/3 of your plate should be taken up by superfree foods, not free foods, and a third your free foods then really you shouldn't be eating mountains of potatoes and pasta.

The first day was easy for me,the second and third were very difficult, and I felt quite ill and weak, fourth day wasn't too bad, since then I've been fine, but just knowing that my meals are restricted annoys me,but it'll be worth it.

Have you tried roasting the potatoes with 1 cal spray,Wildstrawberries? Or using some of your syns for a little butter.

What I do like about it is that I'm eating an even greater variety of foods than usual, though to be fair I've only been on it for a week. But it really is encouraging me to try new dishes rather than stick with my usual fare.

LaFilleSurLePont · 12/01/2012 18:58

The book for EE does say 1/3,though we were told try to aim for 2/3 superfree and one third free foods in class today. That's what I do. I love veg so piling my plate with them isn't a problem for me,but eating fruit is. I'm not a fruit fan,and struggle to eat it.

I also hate measuring my milk. I love to drink milk, and detest measuring it out when I want a big glass of it,and milk for tea and coffee, without using syns.

Shellybobbins · 12/01/2012 21:08

I've been going to SW since last feb and lost 3 1/2 stone with it. its so easy once you get your head around it. its the most weight i have ever lost and aiming for 5 stone just now so not too far to go.

If you stick with it, it will work. I love the fact that i can feel like im having a fry up and actually im having a free meal i.e. omelette and fried tomatoes cooked with the spray oil. i feel like im cheating but im not. It certainly works for me!

loismustdieatyahoodotcom · 13/01/2012 15:54

Ive just started EE on SW and i wondered if you could help. I am trying to find out if Muller Light Vanilla sprinkled with dark chocolate is free or not. If i search on the website through the manufacturer it says free but if i put info in manually it say 4.5 syns IYSWIM. Any help with this would be great!!

Shellybobbins · 13/01/2012 20:20

it wouldn't be free because of the chocolate sprinkles. sorry

FriendofDorothy · 13/01/2012 20:46

Disastrous evening eating tonight. Oh well... onwards to tomorrow!

ValarMorghulis · 13/01/2012 20:49

Lois - no that particular one is 1.5 syns. says so in this weeks mag.

I joined Sw last night. I have done it before and whilst i like the new EE the basic premise seems the same so fingers crossed.

only had 2 syns today so quite happy with myself.

cardibach · 13/01/2012 21:39

I lost 5 pounds on the first week with EE. THen this week I have lost nothing between Monday and today, so I'm doing a couple of red days as last time It ried the diet they always worked. I followed the rules exactly on EE and have been doing more exercise, so am a bit confused.

loismustdieatyahoodotcom · 14/01/2012 20:27

ValarMorghulis Thanks I was a bit Confused. Can i ask how many syns the strawberry one is?

ValarMorghulis · 14/01/2012 23:03

strawberry is the same as the other "normal" ones. they are syn free!

AndiRee · 14/01/2012 23:15

loismustdieatyahoodotcom · 14/01/2012 23:26
