My weight has fluctuated wildly in the last few months, I need to stabilise my weight and tone up, can anyone help?

I have lost 2 stone and put it back on again within 3 months (have been ill). I could do with toning up (I am very untoned and unhealthy looking) and could do with losing a stone, really.

I can't low carb as I have to restrict my protein levels due to my illness, and high impact exercise is out as well, am going to start walking, but also could do with a pretty easy escercise DVD.

Can anyone recommend a healthy eating plan and video?

I love the Shred but it is high impact. I've had a lot of success with Davina McCall's workout DVDs as well, and one of the instructors always does low-impact versions of the moves.

Diet-wise, stick to lean proteins (lean meat, eggs, fish, pulses), wholeweat carbs and plenty of fruit and veg. Keep fatty/sugary/processed foods, caffeine and alcohol to a minimum and drink plenty of water. Try not to snack if you can help it and don't eat late at night.

That's it really :)

Kettlebell workouts are completely non impact. And will tone you up in shit time.

Get0rf · 03/01/2012 21:33

That's a good idea re kettlebells.

Re healthy eating, I am no good at healthy eating per se (I always fridge raid) and my weight loss diet of choice has always been atkins/dukan. But now I have to really restrict protein so need to have a carb heavy diet, iyswim.

I have had a look at Davina, but she is so annoying, but that Jillian Michaels thing looks good also.

I have also got an exercise bike in the shed, i might haul that into the sitting room and go on it for 30 mins a night,

Karen voight did really good ones, not sure if she's still around. Prob a bit old school.

High protein doesn't suit me either but have also found that carbs spark my appetite.
It's a bummer GetOrf.

I have the Shred but can't progress from level one due to complete inability to do push ups or plank.

Prefer dance DVDs and got a Vicky Binns (Mollie from Corrie) one I really like for only a fiver from Matalan

Get0rf · 04/01/2012 11:55

Haha I can't plank either. I always collapse forward on my arms and look like a, well, plank.

I am existing on porridge and lots of vegetables at the moment. I am almost scared of eating protein (since I have been told it may exacerbate my illness) so pretty much am eating a vegetarian diet, which is boring.

GetOrf is swimming an option for you?

I started about 18months ago and swim 3 or 4 times a week and love it. This and healthy eating has helped me to lose weight.
