I am at the age where it is just a matter of (short) time before I develop a health problem relating to my weight - joints, Type 2 diabetes or even a heart attack. It really is that serious.
I am sick of not having any "nice" clothes (don't want to invest until I lose weight Hmm).
I did it in summer, stuck to it for ages which is something I have never managed to do. I CAN do it again.

So here's the plan. Back to foodfocus as of tomorrow. No days off (logging, although I may choose to eat more than I am "allowed". Everything must be logged.
No excessive competitiveness with myself. I truly believe this is part of the reason it all went wrong.

3 or 4 lb to lose every week. Might sound a lot but it's easy when you're big - I'm sure I could do it by just eating 3 normal sized usual meals a day. So pathetic if I can't.

Coming back here to report on progress. Caring and supportive thread but not accepting bullshit excuses!
Anyone want to join me?

SnowSister ...................I threw nearly a whole tin of Roses straight in the bin last week! There was only me eating them and they were not even very nice!!

I felt liberated when they had gone!

Will weigh myself later but am following the WW plan AsIAmStillPayingForItThoughHaveNotBeenSinceSeptember!!

MABS · 29/12/2011 11:48

well done Collision!

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 29/12/2011 11:53

I too have WW membership and haven't been for ages. They are promoting Healthy and filling from January from what I can see. Which is eating until you are full but not stuffed from list of foods , then 49 points a week for other things.

The new iPhone app is set do you can decide whether you want to count points or do healthy and filling each day so you can swap between the two.

TooMaryBaubles · 29/12/2011 12:13

Oh god oh god oh god

I've just braved the scales. I weigh 16 st 1. I'm 5'4. I can't believe I've let myself go so much. I'm a big fat disgusting blob. Sad

Off to sign up for Slimming World online right now, and bin any left over chocolates. Except for my posh Hotel Chocolat stuff as that would be sacriledge...

MABS · 29/12/2011 12:18

agree :) throwing Hotel Chocolat away should be illegal...

GettinTrimmer · 29/12/2011 12:35

Hi all. I joined Slimmers World in September, lost 10lb, but after my weigh in tomorrow who knows...! Would love to join you all. I am on another thread here that's been going for almost 2 years, I lost 1.5 stone with them and put the whole lot back on again Xmas Sad

ToomaryBaubles good luck with signing up for slimmers world!

Collision well done on throwing the Roses out. I have a fridge full of cheese I will have to give away and have to get dh to hide the nuts and crisps...!

LordFlasheart · 29/12/2011 12:59

Hello Grin

I'm going to join- I think I weigh around 12st7. Am 5ft.

My goal is 3st7 off in 8 months- by August when we go away (have not been this weight since I was in my early 20s!) I have BAGS of lovely clothes, expensive jeans etc stored in my basement. I will be wearing them this summer.

I will be doing WW at home, probably old system, and will try & minimise carbs and stick to healthy choices. Am giving up drinking at home (only go out every 2-3 weeks so that will cut it down loads).

I am also buying new digital scales & a diary, never fill in those online logs so manual works best for me. Sewing or craft kits in the evening, to stop me snacking. Jogging or shred or what have you as many days as I can. My goal is 2lbs p/w.

I start on the 1st, no more stomach that sits on my lap, no more wearing maternity clothes 5YRS POST BABY FFS Grin

StealthPolarBear · 29/12/2011 13:18

Yes, sorry mabs, was just so amazed. But you know what weight is right for you. Very enviumous of your lack of sweet tooth, that is one of my downfalls. Along with carve, portion size and nuts. Pretty much the only thing I have going for me is that I can resist crisps and don't eat much fried stufff.
Good day so far but only day 1 so motivation is high! I opened the fridge earlier and all the chocolate called to me.

LordFlasheart · 29/12/2011 13:22

Stealth- you can resist crisps?!?! Shock

Bin the choc!! Altho if your family want it, like mine, of course you cant...

In fact, there must be a way of storing choc, biscuits etc for family... Might get out coolbox out & see if I can put a lock on it.

mrswoodentop · 29/12/2011 13:24

I am going tong back to SW I think,I need some structure and there is a new group inthe next village.I did try another group last year but it kept having changes of leader and there were lots of lovely older ladies who had been St target for about 10 years which whilst nice didn't seem to motivate me.
Also wondering about joining MFP and doing it alongside, has anyone tried MFP?

butterfliesinmytummy · 29/12/2011 13:37

Don't bin, re-gift!!!

We received a hamper for Christmas and I admit I sent all the biscuits and chocolate from it to DH's office. He put it in the office kitchen and people have been helping themselves - the hamper came through his work anyway.

The kids want to make cupcakes tomorrow (help!) so I will resist, keep a couple for each of them and send the rest in the same direction.....

MABS · 29/12/2011 13:43

my problem is crisps and vino i'm afraid :(

Snowsister · 29/12/2011 14:18

Collision - you are rock!
My kids would probably leave home if I did that.
I have resisted so far and just had yoghurt.
Off to polish the halo.

Snowsister · 29/12/2011 14:20

Lordflasheart, I know the feeling on the stomach front. I hate the flippyfloppy overhang I have. I want rid of it. Every time I see chocolate I will remind myself of this.

Snowsister · 29/12/2011 14:22

Butterflies, good idea. Im regifting it ALL.

PhishFoodAddiction · 29/12/2011 15:24

Oh dear, we are down to all those vile chocs in the bottom of the tin of roses, but I still can't resist eating them. I don't even like them ffs Angry. They are either going in H's mouth or the bin!

I've not braved the scales yet, might leave it until we go to WW next week- the shock might spur me into action.

My plan is to not buy much processed food and get better quality meat/ veg/ fruit. Then I can cook extra to freeze and reheat when I'm feeling too lazy to cook most nights then.

Chocolate and sugar is my major downfall, but crisps are a weak spot too... basically if it's no good for you, I love it Grin. I find myself cramming chocolate in, even though I'm not actually enjoying the taste it's like I can't stop, and I think I tend to use my depression as an excuse 'oh I'm feeling crap, I deserve a big bag of M n M's as a treat.'

I'm doing anything drastic, just cutting out most chocolate/ crap, eating more meals made from scratch, drinking more water and less wine.

Off to see what I can rustle up for tea, something healthy of course Wink.

PhishFoodAddiction · 29/12/2011 15:25

NOT doing anything TOO drastic that should say.

NotNeeemo · 29/12/2011 15:48

Can I join too am starting slimming world this evening not looking forward to seeing how much I weighBlush

StickAForkInMeImDone · 29/12/2011 16:40

Well I have dried my tears after weighing myself this morning. Trying to look on the positive side, having so much weight to lose will hopefully mean that the first few pounds will come off fairly easily and will motivate me.
Cheese and wine is my downfall so am going to limit myself to once a week for them.

ledkr · 29/12/2011 16:41

All of you who are fretting about vino. I stopped my daily half bottle glass of wine four weeks before xmas and it made not one jot of difference to my weight,i had been expecting a miracle tbh Hmm
Im still not going to re start it tho. I just stopped buying it and switched to dietcoke,i was reassured that at least i didnt have a drink problem as id expected Grin

StickAForkInMeImDone · 29/12/2011 16:41

Blush thanks for the kind words this morning, I got myself into a right state but soon realised that crying doesn't actually shift any weight so went out for a good brisk walk instead Smile

StickAForkInMeImDone · 29/12/2011 16:42

ledkr For me its the stilton and crackers I end up eating with the wine that is my problem Grin

ledkr · 29/12/2011 16:44

stick i switched to pickles-olives and capers yum yum,it still gives into that savory craving.

MABS · 29/12/2011 17:53

dont tell me that ledkr! i need to stop the wine soon, and the cheese and crisps with it ,but i will be drinking my bodyweight in champers tomorrow with good friends :( so won't start til tuesday. See I am full of excuses !!

lollipoppet · 29/12/2011 20:10

Hi, I'm joining in if that's ok. I have a mammoth task ahead and need all the support I can get
! I am getting married in July and I do not want to see wedding pics and cry! I am currently squeezing into size 18 (so wedding dress would probably need 20 to fit) :( I would sob with happiness if I can get into size 14 by July.

I am planning to do ww online but with no carbs in the evening. I also have manyuntouched DVDs to do and I'm planning to buy a bike seat for dd so I can get cycling again, that really helped last time, even though I am so slow I genuinely got overtaken by bastard-- runners!

Just struggling time wise as am doing final year of degree and on for a first (achieving this will also make me weep with happiness) so trying to put a lot of effort and time into that. Dd is at nursery 2 days but that's when I study so only time for DVD is before she wakes up and I am shit at getting out of bed as it is but to do exercise?! Hmm

I think ot's planning that is key and where I fall behind. Wish I had a pa who would meal plan for me and write a shopping list so all I had to do was order! Anyone know of this service? Or any volunteers??
