I am at the age where it is just a matter of (short) time before I develop a health problem relating to my weight - joints, Type 2 diabetes or even a heart attack. It really is that serious.
I am sick of not having any "nice" clothes (don't want to invest until I lose weight Hmm).
I did it in summer, stuck to it for ages which is something I have never managed to do. I CAN do it again.

So here's the plan. Back to foodfocus as of tomorrow. No days off (logging, although I may choose to eat more than I am "allowed". Everything must be logged.
No excessive competitiveness with myself. I truly believe this is part of the reason it all went wrong.

3 or 4 lb to lose every week. Might sound a lot but it's easy when you're big - I'm sure I could do it by just eating 3 normal sized usual meals a day. So pathetic if I can't.

Coming back here to report on progress. Caring and supportive thread but not accepting bullshit excuses!
Anyone want to join me?

Eeek, 2 hours to SW, I have 3 RL friends who are joining next week.

CotherMuckingFunt · 04/01/2012 17:38

Good luck five

MABS · 04/01/2012 17:44

Good luck Five :) let us know Bad day for me.. I sat at the hospital and ate cake, so really really crap, will defo run 3 or 4k in morning I promise. soooo want a glass of wine to cheer me up but given that up too midweek :( dammit.

fivegomadindorset · 04/01/2012 18:27

Well will be going next week as me and the loo are making pretty good friends at the moment, not the V kind, so giving my weightloss a kick start.

On the downside was in hospital this afternoon seeing DDad so really hoping whatever I have got doesn't get passed on to him, and starting my new part time job tomorrow so don't want to miss that.

Bugger is all I can say.

MABS · 04/01/2012 18:35

oh no Five! take care you x

notveryinventive · 04/01/2012 19:12

Right today I have had

  • banana and Muller Light Yoghurt for breakfast
  • 2 Shortbread fingers and a hot choc for mid-morning
  • Ham and cheese Panini with coleslaw and a can of Pepsi (I was meeting a friend for lunch at a cafe before baby group)
  • Chicken Kiev, Chips and Beans.

I was going to have a carton of Ribena Extra light with my evening meal, but according to Food Focus I have gone over my goal calories, but still under my burned ones. Im about in the middle of the two, so will keep with that and just have had some water.

Good luck Five. I need some RL friends to go somewhere like that so I would keep going. Though I do the same as momnipotent with those, eat like a pig once Ive been weighed and gradually got better as the days progressed to my next one. Well dont Cother for losing half a Kg. Wish I had the willpower to cut out carbs. They do seem to be the demon dont they.

Anyway feeling good that Ive managed to not do too bad today, though I am getting hungry now Sad

lydiathetattooedlady · 04/01/2012 19:27

Hello, not done too bad today (i think!) I was up late this morning after both dc decided to bugger about in the night so ended up with 40min to get me and both dc out the house, needless to say i skipped breakfast. I went for lunch with my sister at the pub, naughty but it was for business! So today ive had...
a beef chimi changa and chips Blush
and a wispa gold double Blush

however i walked everywhere today and did 2 hours proper power walking here there and everywhere and according to MFP (couldnt find my lunch in ww online directory) with all the walking i am +400 calories from the walking whoop-whoop!

oh no five hope you're ok??

mabs how about a wine spritzer? i think you deserve a glass!

cother i'd like to look at cutting out carbs as i have a form of bowel disease and they do seem to upset it, what kind of carbs are you cutting out and are you replacing them with anything else?

how is everyone else getting on? x

CotherMuckingFunt · 04/01/2012 19:52

lydia, I'm not eating potatoes, pasta, rice, bread or flour based products. My meals are meat and plenty of veg (although some veg is affecting me but I refuse to give up everything!).

I eat corn based crackers (which still bloat me but nowhere nearly as badly as bread) and that's about it. I don't live in the uk and it's really hard to get substitutes here and still afford the rent so I've just taught myself to go without. I do get massive cravings for something I can really 'bite' into though so occasionally I let myself have something on my banned list but it normally make me feel so ill that I don't get another craving for a long time! It tends to enrage my IBS so I generally live to regret it.

StealthPolarBear · 04/01/2012 22:09

Hi everyone
Doing well so far but only 3 days in...I just need to keep this up!

OP posts:
MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 04/01/2012 23:32

Hi all!
I did better today than some days. I did give in to a couple of small temptations (little piece of chocolate, small glass of wine and a bit of Christmas cake) and I did go slightly over my daily plus 1/7 of weekly points as a result.

BUT - I got a funny popup from the Weight watchers site yesterday, which seems to say that they have just reduced the minimum number of points anyone can be on, from 29 to 26 (which is what I got given at the start)! So it looks as though if I had joined a bit earlier, I would have been on 29 points; and it says that if that works for you, you can increase the 26 points back to 29 or somewhere in between!

So to me that says that it should be OK to use up to 29 as my daily limit, which seems more achievable and I think I would be much more likely to stick to that long term. And by that calculation I was (thanks to an hour of Zumba) just within my allowance today instead of over Xmas Grin Which is making me feel a lot more positive about the whole thing!

Now I just have to worry about whether the Zumba will have made my poorly feet (much) worse or not... I knew it was a risk but really wanted to try it again and my friend was going too, just hope I won't regret it tomorrow morning! Am sitting here doing foot exercises and taking Nurofen to try and stave off any ill effects later....

StealthPolarBear · 05/01/2012 07:32

Well done MyNameIs
Ouch to your feet though, hope thay are OK.

fivegomadindorset · 05/01/2012 08:12

Well thanks to a combination of being ill and stopping alcohol I am 3 lbs down from Tuesday.

lilibet · 05/01/2012 08:40

I'm still doing well with my eating but am finding it really hard to exercise, I'm a lazy so and so. Grin

I know that I can get my little trampoline out when I'm watching tv but the couch is like a magnet to my bum.

It's not jsut the weight loss that I need exercise for, it's my general health - I really am so very unfit.

redstormrising · 05/01/2012 08:51

I am down a pound from Tuesday, but that is mostly because I had a terrible day at work yesterday and did not eat, except for one rice cracker spread with pate when I got home and a half bottle of wine.

Have made a yummy curried veg soup though so that is lunch and dinner sorted.

StealthPolarBear · 05/01/2012 10:28

Pickled onions are brilliant for savoury cravings!

Cluckingmad · 05/01/2012 10:35

Had my first post Christmas weigh-in last night and lost 2 lbs. Really happy with that as now gives me the motivation I need to carry on. I just need to start exercising now Hmm.

notveryinventive · 05/01/2012 10:42

Oh dear. just logged my food for so far today. Right I now know my next cull is going to be my mid-morning snack. Today Ive consumed more calories in the last 20 mins than I did for my breakfast Shock so Im going to look to have more breakfast and less food at 10/10:30. If I can up my breakfast by 100 cals and cut out my mid-morning snack, Id be 200 cals better off.

Anyway so far today I have:

Banana and Toffee Muller light for breakfast
3 biscuits and a hot choc

I have now got 980 cals left today. So need to cut down. I know I could do some exercise, but what? perhaps I should go for a walk or jump around for 10 mins or something to give me more calories.

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 05/01/2012 11:15

Well done Clucking!

Notvery have you got stairs? A few trips up and down would be good exercise for now.

Feet are actually not bad so far today, I'm not sure how much that's down to the ibuprofen, but I have been very good doing my stretches and foot roller too and they certainly don't seem worse than usual despite all the bouncing around yesterday, hurray!

And I am determined to have a "good" day today. So far have had a fairly healthy breakfast (WW yogurt, 1 slice of fruit bread and a pot of fruit), have got a healthy meal in for tea and planning to nip out to Boots for a Shapers lunch, so then I'll just have to watch the snacks and secret Christmas chocolates... Planning a swim after work too if I can get out at a reasonable time!

Snowsister · 05/01/2012 13:47

Well done Clucking Smile

I had weigh in at WW this morning: 12st 6.5.
Target is 11.5 to start.
29 propoints a day.
I have 7 left.

sigh.

Lots of fruit and veg for dinner I think. Yoga tonight.

rusmum · 05/01/2012 14:32

Can i join in??

I need to lose 3 stone and my aim is to go frtom abig 16 (13 stone) to a small 14. My weight gain due to poor routine (skip means and nibble) and ridiculously exessice alcohol intake ( must drink 500 plus calories a day!)

So I will avoid alcohol sun-fri, eat 3 meals a day, and start some form of exercise 3x a week.

MABS · 05/01/2012 14:45

still no booze since sunday :) did Abs class and ran 3k this am.

notveryinventive · 05/01/2012 18:53

Yey to clucking well done :)

Good idea mynameis Ive actually been adding the little things Ive done as exercise. Ive added on 90 mins of childcare for when I was at baby group this aft and 5 mins of stairs as Ive been up and down like a yoyo today. Im assuming that the normal calories burned bit is how many calories your body burns just by sitting doing nothing like I am now

Well after a rubbish morning, its not worked out bad at all today. Final list is:

Banana and Toffee Muller light for breakfast
3 biscuits and a hot choc
Tomoto soup and toast for lunch
no afternoon snack even though there was cake on offer at the baby group
Tea was minced beef and Dumplings and a can of full fat coke
I also pinched one of the kids chocolate orange segments.

Ive had less than yesterday and even though Ive gone over my calorie goal, Im closer to it that I have been since I started food focus Grin

Hope I can do well again tomorrow.

fivegomadindorset · 05/01/2012 20:30

Well done all.

A glass of wine is looking tempting but will resist until tomorrow.

Today I have had
2 slices toast with lurpak (have bouth a lower fat version today)
black coffee
Went to Costa and had skinny hoct chocolate and a panini.
A slice of toast when I came home from picking up DC's
Just about to have lamb chops (our own lamb so pretty lean, DH did such a good job), new potatoes and broccoli.

I haven't had as much Diet Coke as normal and feel less bloated.

Exercise was being shown around the prison I know work at and walking to and from it to the bus stop.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 05/01/2012 23:43

Well done to all of you who are doing this.

Bit of a crisis going on here. I just can't get back on WW and stick to my points and am very very cross with myself. Might need to try SW again. Can anyone tell me if there have been any recent changes to it ?

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 05/01/2012 23:50

Wynken yes, see my post above about them reducing the minimum number of points you can get! So it might be they have given you fewer points this time than you had before. That just changed in the last few days, but it's possible there have been other changes before that (I wouldn't know as only just started). How long is it since you did it before?
