1.5 Stone to lose by February

butterflyexperience · 28/12/2011 07:16

After dd2 was born I was 2.5 Stone over of what I weighed before DC's.

Earlier this year I managed to lose 1.5 of it but in the past 2 months have put 0.5 back on, from lack of excersise and eating crap.

So...to help motivate me and anyone else who would care to join I'm looking to lose 1.5 Stone in 2 months.

The plan is:
to run 3-4 times a week around 5K each run.
Low Carb it
Stop eating meat, only fish and eggs

My weight today is: 10 Stone

Anyone care to join me?

Can I join too? I am 12 st and need to lose 1.5 st by march 30th which is when we go on holiday and I refuse to spend another holiday hiding from the camera or wincing at photos Grin . I would also like to starting trying for no. 3 in April but have to get rid of the extra weight from no.2 first!

I am doing swimming, walking, running when I can be arsed Grin and not eating crap. Sounds so easy when I put it like that, so why has it taken so long to start!

TaffyandTeenyTaffy · 01/01/2012 10:51

Well I have started the year well with a mushroom omelette for breakfast, with just a sprinkle of blue cheese for flavour.... and will be snacking on the bowl of clementines that have been a little neglected over Christmas!

Not weighing until I start properly on Tuesday.

Good luck everyone!

Best is to eat whole foods and less carbs.
I like the idea of 3 days carb free! still mangeable.
I still find a bowl of oats with a dollop of yogurt and fresh fruit in the morning helps me keep to a stricter diet.

A good friend in a nutritionist and follows a rather strict south indian veggie diet.
Her tips are:
spice up your food a lot more to make small portions and generally everything more satisfying.
Chili, tumeric, cinamon etc are thermogenic and aid digestion.
Herbs like prsley, coriander, dill etc help flush water
Am now regular as clockwork thanks to Warm water andlemon first thing in the morning help.
Beware, rice has a very high GI load. Thin wholemeal chapatis/wraps are great to fill up with protein and veg.

My protein fixes for breakfast/snacks are:
Egg white omelettes with mushroom/ spring onion/tumeric
Greek yogurt with berries/nuts
Veggies with hummous or yogurt dip
Raita
Small bowl of daal
Roast chicken breast/ fish (spice it up with cajun spice/tandoori/lime and chili etc...)
Green apple/celery with peanut butter
Bean salad
Spiced grilled tofu
Miso soup with tofu
Tabouleh made with just a hadfull of cracked wheat and some hazelnut

Use fresh salsas made of grated tomato or thahini/lemon juice for seasonning.

Dh lost a stone in a month. Me 1/2st.

laptop that is v interesting stuff, had no idea rice was high GI, even brown rice? What's the lowest GI starch carb staple?

Yesterday went wrong Blush - had pitta bread for lunch and rice and veggies for supper, and had a small bar of v dark chocolate. V bad.

Day 34: B: apple and yog L: pitta, cottage cheese, loads of spinach D: ? soup? E: shred

Where is everyone? Need the motivation!

ObviouslyOblivious · 04/01/2012 20:15

I'm here! I'm on holiday in a cottage so have had a couple of ready meals, and had fish and chips today... And wine! I'm not going too over the top but definitely not being strict this week.

laptopwieldingharpy · 05/01/2012 01:44

look [http://www.health.harvard.edu/newsweek/Glycemic_index_and_glycemic_load_for_100_foods.htm here]]

White rice when washed from starch is actually not too bad but remember one portion is a small bowl (size of a tennis ball).
Brown rice is as high, against common belief.

Barley and quinoa are the best grains. gram flour is high protein.
pulses like lentils, chickpeas and black beans are great too.

All the above are low GI and high protein & fiber, which is what you are trying to achieve and gives a break from all meat fad diets.

We live in asia and in cold weather we live on big steaming bowls of soup. Usually they are noodle soups but you can skip or half the noodle content and use high protein noodles like japanese soba. its made of buckwheat.
rice vermicelli ok too.

see recipes below:
vietnamese pho
chicken pho

all much easier than seems. Its all about the stock really. the soup is actually assembled at the last minute.
try it on a sunday instead of a roast and always make enough stock to freeze.

there are dozens of versions of these soups accross asia. look [http://www.asianonlinerecipes.com/online_recipes.php here]]

laptopwieldingharpy · 05/01/2012 01:52

i have had creamy yogurt and granola every night this week.

Its just unbearably cold for this part of the world. craving bread

LuckyC · 05/01/2012 09:27

33 days to go, w/i tomorrow...

way2serious · 05/01/2012 18:13

Good evening all. Am back at work and can't believe we ever had any time off! Have made a gentle start this week and reduced carbs and snacks. Am hoping to have lost a pound when I weigh in tomorrow morning. Next week I am aiming to reduce carbs a bit more and increase my water intake. Still have lots of Christmas goodies hanging around but am doing my best to resist! Good luck to anyone weighing in tomorrow. I will post my results some time during the evening.

LuckyC · 06/01/2012 14:17

W/i: have not lost an ounce :( and Angry

Must try harder. Bugger.

ObviouslyOblivious · 06/01/2012 16:22

Right I'm back from my break. Lucky, I'm sorry to hear that. Where do you think you can improve? My WI is Sunday, I don't expect much...

LuckyC · 06/01/2012 18:22

Obviously just self-discipline really, have been pants. The first week of exercise I am always starving so hopefully this will be a bit less so next week. Starting again tomorrow and going to really go for it, specially with the carbs.

way2serious · 06/01/2012 21:03

Sorry to hear your weigh in didn't go well Lucky but remember that at least you didn't gain and every day is fresh start. I have somehow managed to lose 2 lbs which I am very pleased about as I haven't done any exercise and I have still eaten lots of chocolate!!!
I am really going to up my water intake and try to do a couple of good walks this weekend. I am also going to try to cut my chocolate eating!
Good luck to everyone else.

ObviouslyOblivious · 08/01/2012 09:14

way2serious · 09/01/2012 21:39
