I can see that the number of daily points has gone up, but so have the values of foods (why?)

And I can see that there's a weekly allowance - is that for 'extras'?

Anything else I need to know? Can I assume points values are similar relatively speaking?? i.e. most veg free etc

Not really. It's a completely different system. Hang back after the meeting, your leader should explain it all to you.

ah, I'm doing it online but can't find an explanation of the changes. maybe I'll just have to look harder around the site.

Ok, Firstly the way the points are worked out is different, instead of using cals and sat fat you know use protein, carbs, full fat, and fibre. You are given your daily allowance which is to be used on the day or lost, no more carrying points over. The weekly allowance of 49 is for use how you like wether it be an extra 7 points a day or for a meal out, alcohol etc. It is basically instead of saving up your points for a meal out like you had to do on the old system. Fruit and most veg are now 0 points. They also brought in some changes in november which means you can now switch from counting points to healthy and filling on a daily basis rather than weekly. Info on the filling and healthy day should be easy enough to find on the website as its a new change.
The points values of foods have gone up some more than others just because of how the points are now worked out. Exercise points can still be earned and used in the same week.

HTH,

that's brilliant, thanks vnmum. I hadn't even twigged the healthy an filling thing. And fruit free now.

Bit of a pain to have to learn points values again, but hey ho.

cheers!

if you are an online member it will be easy to track on the website and you can get to know points values that way, also if you have a iphone there is an app that you can track on that too. One thing though, even though fruit is 0 points it is not free IYSWIM, and you shouldn't eat 10 portions a day for example, otherwise you risk not losing. Just remember how many points a banana was on the old plan. I think the fruit was made 0 points to encourage people to eat healthier rather than choosing a curly wurly over a banana for the same points as alot of people did on the old plan. I find it a really good plan when you get the hang of it, very liveable. I am a gold member and have been easily maintaining for nearly a year and even though I have gained over christmas I know I will easily lose it again on the plan
