This was mrspinks idea but I thinks its great!

We have 3 stone to loose but cant go to clubs or gyms so we have to do it from home, so anyone else in the same boat join in so that we can give each other loads of support and encouragment as well as lots of usefull ideas and tips!!

mummygow · 08/01/2006 16:35

cranberryjampots · 08/01/2006 18:44

Im trying to do a 40 minute walk about 4-5 times a week interspersed with 15 mins on cross trainer (cant manage any more). So far have only managed 20 sit ups but working on getting up to 50 within a couple of weeks then onto 100.

Am counting WW points and my friend insists on me having a WW ready meal every night for a week as everyone she knows has lost between 5-7lbs in the first week doing this.

Unfortunately I only had 10 points today for b/l/d so have had to have another meal too bringing me up to 13.5points. Not ideal though.

mummygow · 08/01/2006 20:14

well I popped to tesco today and bought that lemon stuff jiff so that I can put it in hot water to drink in the mornings (read somwhere that this is good for you).
Bought fruit and low fat yoghurt to actually use my smoothie maker for smoothies and not ice-cream milk shakes.
Bought vegetables so that have veg soup on go to make sure I am getting my 5 portions of fruit and veg a day, and have vowed to try and drink 8 pints of water a day.

cranberryjampots · 08/01/2006 20:17

mummygow - - the lemonjuiice really helps you to feel cleansed and kickstarts your metabolism in the morning.

Ive worked out this afternoon that my period is due in the next week so fingers crossed I should lose more in the next 2 weeks

mummygow · 08/01/2006 20:18

cranberryjampots, when did you start, how much have you got loose and have you lost anything already

Just hijacking here, but my exercises that I was given after my c-section advised using the baby as a weight - that way the baby is entertained at the same time as you exercise! Anyway, good luck to all of you! My dh (who is a bodybuilder) recommends to everyone eating more often (it is very easy to send your body into starvation mode if you cut down too much and keep your meals too far apart, and then your body will save as much to fat as possible). So try eating something every two and a half hours or so.

cranberryjampots · 08/01/2006 20:40

Well I started a proper diet on NYD but my last weigh in at WW was the week before xmas. Unfortunately under WW I finished after 6 weeks back at my starting weight to vowed not to waste £5 a week. Ive lost 4lbs since that last weigh in though even though I ate quite a lot over xmas.

mummygow · 08/01/2006 20:43

nooka would that be like having a breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack

Cranberryjampot, so you have already started losing

i am going to go for no booze, no bread, no sugar, no carbs at teatime

but i have no will power

mummygow · 08/01/2006 20:45

that's right Mummygow. He has advised friends to actually eat more to lose weight, and it has worked (especially missing breakfast - bad move). We went on a high protein (but not Atkins), low fat, complex carb, five a day fruit/veg with two sessions of light weight training regime, and both felt much better for it as well as losing three stone between us in about six months. He now weighs a great deal more, but that's mostly muscle. Also it's worth knowing that if you are so overweight that aerobic exercise is difficult then weight training can be a good move, as it burns off fat effectively, and you are also more likely to be good at it (because your muscles are likely to be larger than the average scrawny person). Plus it's good for your mental health and not as boring as cardio machines! Also weight bearing exercise is very good for women, particularly as you get older as it protects from osteoporosis, and helps with other problems like arthritis and back pain. But of course it's not for everyone!

One of the key things is to start living in a way you actually enjoy, otherwise you may lose weight, but you are likely to put it all back on (and more) as soon as you loosen up on your rules.

mummygow · 08/01/2006 22:54

what do you mean weight training and can I do it in the house

OP posts:
nooka · 09/01/2006 14:45

Training with weights. You can do it in the home, just buy a set of basic weights from a sports shop. But you need to get a programme (we got our original programme from a magazine called Men's Health). It is better to do it with a friend, so they can tell you when you are doing it wrong.

mazzystar · 09/01/2006 14:48

just eaten the last remaining foot of a chocolate santa.

am i letting the side down?

however that means there are no more banned substances in the house.

mummygow · 09/01/2006 19:23

Doing great but still havent managed to fit in the excercise dvd

OP posts:
mummygow · 09/01/2006 21:09

OP posts:
jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 09/01/2006 21:44

not sure - started off really well but bread is my biggest downfall.

HOPING to have still lost the 4lbs i had when i weighed on saturday morning, but not too sure.

Will let you all know in the morning!

Spagblog · 09/01/2006 21:47

Hi, can I join? I have about 3 stone to lose, but I can't tell because the dial on my scales is so damn small that even with squinting I can't see the pound markers!
I have done well today, but then it is only day one!

cranberryjampots · 10/01/2006 01:01

I did really well today.

bowl of cornflakes with soya milk
home made pepper and parsnip soup
WW shepherds pie
strawberries
carrot sticks
apple
water

didnt manage to go for walk as after school, came home did dinner, dd had a friend round, PTA meeting then sis rang and asked if I could go help her at work for a couple of hours - not long back
