What's the best way to lose a few pounds in one week?

Is it possible? My belly is ridiculously protruberant and I'm going out next Friday. I think it's partly fat and partly bloating from xmas eating. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok I don't drink anyway so alcohol's easy

if i cut out bread and sugar and just eat soup for dinner every night will that work?

is rice bloating?

Eat brown rice, not white.

I've lost weight since being on a version of the low GI diet while I've been pregnant - am considerably trimmer than before I got pg! I have gestational diabetes, so what I can and can't eat is a bit different from low GI - I've discovered that white potatoes don't affect my blood sugar levels, for instance.

Drink lots of water too - big glass before you eat and you won't be as hungry - often we think we're hungry when we're just thirsty.

may have to resort to healthy options like laxatives and speed

Try to cut out bread and potatoes and replace with ryvita or crackerbread. Drink about 8 small glasses of water throughout the day. Eat main meal at lunchtime and have light snacks of fruit, yoghurt and crackers throughout the day. I usually do the 2 bowls of cereal diet and end up losing about 6lbs in a week. Also try and do 100 situps a day - break it down to 25 situps throughout the day - less punishing. Have a good clear out of any Christmas leftovers. Good luck!

The cereal diet deffo works I usually have a bowl of special k for breakfast, a healthy lunch and a bowl of cereal at tea time. I also have it with skimmed milk if you can stomach it. I have really bad chocolate cravings so I have a hot chocolate in the morning and one before bedtime. The most I have lost is 10lbs after the 2 week period. But I do go mad with the sit ups and cycling to help the weight loss.

michelle mcmanus has a 4 day detox in htis week's Heat magazine - looks really good so Im going to give it a go
