Hi, am starting Slimming World Extra Easy plan. I join tonight. Would anyone care to join me on a pre Christmas weight loss journey? :)

OP posts:
debka · 01/11/2011 21:01

I'll join you! I've been doing Slimming World for 5 weeks now and have lost 1st 3lb so far- got my stone award tonight after losing 3.5lb. I want to reach my Club 10 by Christmas. I am really enjoying it and the diet is working v well for me.

What's your target for Christmas?

AuntieDoris · 01/11/2011 21:07

I have been doing SW since January. Have lost about 1.5 stone but this has gone up and down a wee bit. I have moved to a little island, started a new job ad been in several holidays so weight loss has been hard!

Have about 3lbs to go before I hit my Club10. Will definitely get there before Christmas.

I used to go to a group in the UK but I am now an online member as there is no group here and I miss the support!

NicwNacw · 01/11/2011 21:07

Yes, yes, yes!! Have had a couple of false starts on this but KNOW it will work if only I can stick at it. Need to lose 2 stone - weigh more now than I did when pregnant Blush

AuntieDoris · 03/11/2011 08:51

SW definitely works. Another 3.5lbs off for me!

jubilee10 · 03/11/2011 16:15

I have lost 1 stone 10lbs in 13 weeks Smile. Hope to lose something tonight.

GravityDefier · 04/11/2011 15:45

Oh I would like to join you please. I joined a week ago and put on weight in the first week, but then I didn't follow the plan properly and binged on ice cream and pizza one night Blush

Have been good yesterday and today so far. next weigh in is on Monday. Bonfire night tomorrow will be challenging, I will try and have a good inner beforehand to not be tempted by chips and candy.

Well done to anyone who has lost weight Smile

shinybootsofleather · 05/11/2011 20:21

Well done everyone on your weight loss. Can I join too please?

Have just started again after a break for a bit. I can't go to group due to working FT and childcare issues as well as cashflow probems at the moment but will follow it from home. Need to lose weight as I want my second child and currently weigh 14 stone 6lbs Shock. I was about 16 stone 8 lbs back in Feb 2010 and lost 2 stone through SW, then the remainder with myfitnesspal. The last time I went to group was in August 2010 and was following the EE plan. Going to try SW again as I have been hovering around the same place on the scales for ages and need to get some weight shifted healthily.

I am trying to have very few syns in the week to allow a bit of flexibility for booze/nice meals at the weekend. Does this seem like a good plan? I had 2 consultants and one said to use all syns on the day and don't save them, and the other said it was fine to save them up for a week.

hazelnutlatte · 06/11/2011 10:57

Hi, I'm debating whether to join slimming world online or actually go to a group - think the group would motivate me more but I feel a bit intimidated by the idea of it! Maybe I could just weigh in on this thread instead.
Those who have been to the classes - what are they actually like? I'm not very overweight - got baby weight to lose, I'm 9st 7lbs at the moment and would like to get back to my pre pregnancy weight of 8 stone within 6 months.

Huffpot · 06/11/2011 12:43

Count me in definitely - this is my second week on SW and very impressively (I think ) for my first week I lost 5.5lbs so was delighted with that

Seems almost too good to be true and too easy but if its working I'm not going to complain!

We're going home (Australia) in a few weeks, fingers crossed (nothing booked yet due to me being a total slack arse and not yet organising my youngest's first passport) for a holiday so would like to drop some more weight before then!

I started going as one of my friends has lost a bit of weight on it so she's my inspiration although I have a good bit more than her to lose!

I am going to a group and it is nice - the worst bit is the introduction on the first night but everyone is really lovely and the tasting nights are great as you get heaps of ideas on food

shinybootsofleather · 07/11/2011 09:02

Hi hazelnutlatte. The classes can be a bit cringeworthy and can be a bit happy clappy but are generally good fun. I probably woldn't have lost as much without the motivation of going to classes. I went on the NHS plan and was given some free vouchers from my GP. I met some very nice people there. Just can't afford to go anymore at £5 a shot Sad. It's also a bit of a pain as I used to go when I was mat leave and then when I was part-time which was fine but I don't have much time now and they can go on a bit! I considered joining online but that is quite pricey too. We used to have a slimmer of the week award and people would bring in free food that you would get when you won. I always found that quite a motivation although you would only win about £5 worth of food. I think it must have been the shiny stickers to be honest!

Quite pleased as I have been on the plan for 4 days then off the plan for 2 days (weekend of partying) and still managed to lose 2lbs. If I am super-good this week I might lose more (fingers crossed).

The last time I went to class was back in February this year. Does anyone know if the EE plan has changed since then?

GravityDefier · 07/11/2011 09:29

My classes don't have a regular consultant at the moment so it's not all that organised. I have only been to two though. I tried slimming world online though and I just don't have the self-control to do it by myself. I hope the classes will help me to stick to some healthy eating.

Today is my official weigh in day, even though I have not properly followed the diet at the begin of the the week.
Stepped on the scales this morning and lost 1.2kilos/2.6pounds Smile
This is not the official weigh in of course, that's tonight.

I got a question about that by the way. Isn't your weight different every day at night anyway because of what you eat, drink, whether you have been to the toilet and so on? I find weighing at night a bit weird somehow.

AuntieDoris · 07/11/2011 10:21

If I had a choice I would go to a group as whilst they are happy-clappy and a bit like Fat Fighters in Little Britain, I did enjoy them. However, I am now an online member as there is no group where I live which is a shame. I still have email support from my previous consultant and the people I met at my old group which helps.

shinybootsofleather · 07/11/2011 12:18

Yes, you tend to be a bit heavier at night and lighter in the morning. I can vary by 4lbs in a day sometimes though so always try to weigh at the same time each day to get an accurate picture.

GravityDefier · 07/11/2011 20:27

Thank you Shinyboots. Like I said earlier I was 2.6 pounds lighter on my own scales this morning, compared to last week in the morning, but only one pound at the official weigh in tonight Sad

I think I might keep weighing myself in the mornings, evenings seem to fluctuate somehow.

BUt officially I lost a pound this week, I guess it's not too bad (even though I feel disappointed).

Not going to class next Monday as I am going out for my anniversary. DP has booked a table this really fancy chinese restaurant and we might see a movie afterwards. That will be a bad night but we go out once in a blue moon so I want to enjoy it and actually eat food I fancy, not the most fat free stuff somehow. Not sure how much that is going to set me back.

Well done for everyone who managed to get through their fist day ok!

GravityDefier · 07/11/2011 20:29

Oops, sorry, confused with a different thread. No one here started today I think.

Does any of you have any advise in regards to what to definitely avoid at the chinese restaurant and whether some popcorn at the cinema would be ok or whether some other snack would be better?

Huffpot · 08/11/2011 15:48

I have no real idea about what to avoid but beef/chicken in blackbean sauce with boiled/steamed is the best (if that helps!)
Enjoy your dinner!! Smile

debka · 09/11/2011 07:05

Well done gravity on the 2.6lb or 1lb. If I were you I'd just stick to the evening weigh in, over time it will even out and you will see your weight loss on the scales (assuming you're losing weight!!). RE Chinese, chicken chow mein has only 8 syns for a good sized portion and that's actually my favourite.

hazelnut I go to a group and it's lovely, I like the happyclappiness and it's very encouraging. and you get shiny stickers

My 7th week this week and I lost 4lb and got my 1.5st award. I was so so chuffed, wasn't expecting to lose as much as that. I've got into the swing of it pretty well now (it does take a little while), and my body is not happy when I cheat, weirdly, I ate some rocky road and felt quite sick for a few hours this week.

debka · 09/11/2011 07:06

I wonder what happened to the OP??? Hmm

RainbowFishes · 09/11/2011 07:14

May i join you? I joined on Monday there after previously being on WW, but i have no motivation to count all the points!

Im just getting to grips with all the free things and syns etc (like yesterday DH gave me 2 throntons chocs from a little bag as he doesnt like the dark choc ones and it was 6 syns, what a waste)

Im aiming to lose 10lb by christmas and club 10 by end of Jan as im going away with DH on a belated Mini Moon.

AuntieDoris · 09/11/2011 07:45

Those syns aren't a waste if you counted them and enjoyed them!

GravityDefier · 12/11/2011 09:57

Deabka, thank you. Already had a blow out last night unfortunately, not sure what happened there. I will see and try and find chow mein or something else not too bad. And skip rice if possible or at least not have it fried etc. Some small changes with hopefully help. And if I go to the cinema I am sure I can do without a dessert.

Welcome Rainbow Smile

Kniternator · 13/11/2011 18:15

I'll join you. I joined SW on 28 September and have lost 13lbs so far. Desperate to get my stone award next.

I've been Slimmer of the Week twice and I love the stickers.

I like to stay to group as it is a good laugh and everyone is lovely and my leader very inspirational. She sends me text messages weekly to check on how I am doing.

Only 6lbs til Club 10!

RainbowFishes · 14/11/2011 13:33

Hello all, well im back from my first weigh in and lost 4lb so im very pleased with that.

Im off to the cinema also this weekend and im going for a meal before hand but i know what i can and cant have so to make it a free meal! Not sure what to do regarding treats? I feel i shouldnt go with out but dont want to be too bad, any suggestions? should have all 15 sins to play with on the day, and will prob bring my own.

Kniternator - welldone on being slimmer of the week twice, i was hoping it would of been me this week as the friut basket looked especialy lovely today!

Gravitydefier - Thank you for the welcome.

How you all do well this week.

debka · 14/11/2011 13:46

Well done on your 4lb rainbowfishes. Just looked online and popcorn is 5.5 syns per 25g, that's salt or sweet. I reckon you'd get a fair amount of popcorn for that.

Welcome kniternator, fingers crossed for your stone award!

Weigh day tomorrow for me but I've been home alone as DH is away and eaten far too much Blush. He's back now though so we're on track again.

Kniternator · 15/11/2011 21:55

Thanks folks. I have been super good this week, so fingers crossed for weigh in tomorrow night. Unfortunately I stay for group as I have no babysitter and have to take both DSs with me. They are strangely excited about going. Smile
