5 foot 4 inches, size 14: what weight?

I want to invite my dd's friend to an activity which has a weight restriction, but don't want to risk embarrassing or disappointing her if it turns out she can't do it because of her size - it might be upsetting even if I just ask her or her mum how much she weighs, especially if I have to follow the question up with "oh, you can't come then"! She's big for her age and wears adult size clothes. She has mentioned her dress size and I can see how tall she is.

Very very roughly, what weight would you think she might be? Maximum weight for the activity is 14 stone. Is that probably OK? If it seems likely to be a problem then I can just quietly choose something else for them to do.

Thanks!!

Should be fine.... Very very unlikely to exceed the 11.5 mark

PippiLongBottom · 23/09/2011 22:51

I am a weight watchers leader and would say 11 stone plus but nowhere near 14 stone for a size 14.

ParkerRocks · 23/09/2011 22:53

I'm 5'4, after having my DS I wore a size 14. I weighed 12st 8lb at my biggest before the baby weight came off! HTH.

purplepidjinawoollytangle · 23/09/2011 22:57

At 12st12 I was pushing a 16 in some clothes - nowhere near 14st!

startail · 23/09/2011 23:01

No problem, I'm that hight and a size 16 and I weigh around 12st 9 at the moment, that's about a stone more than makes me happySad.

SeeYouAnonMouse · 23/09/2011 23:34

Thanks so much to all of you!! That's very reassuring. I'll go ahead and book it then! They should have a lovely time.

More reassurance - I'm 5ft 3 and a size 14 and weigh about 9st 7lb! I'm only a 14 on the bum though - more of a 10 on top.

Ishtar2410 · 24/09/2011 19:08

Waves at pippilongbottom - I'm also a WW leader! I'd agree, around 11st perhaps 11st 7lbs.

bamboobutton · 24/09/2011 19:11

what are you doing that has a weight restriction?

i'm a size 14/16 and i'm 11 stone and 5'4"

WorzselMummage · 24/09/2011 19:11

I'm 11st9atm.

WorzselMummage · 24/09/2011 19:12

And 5'4" and a size 14, I should have said Grin

foreverondiet · 24/09/2011 21:37

I was 12 5 at size 16, so probably 11.5 stone at size 14.

PippiLongBottom · 24/09/2011 22:58

Are you Ishtar? I don't normally admit to doing it on here because I am a bit jaded with it all.

PotPourri · 24/09/2011 23:01

Def under 14 stone

ebbandflow · 24/09/2011 23:01

I am 10 stone 8, 5ft5ins and a size 14.

SeeYouAnonMouse · 25/09/2011 01:51

"what are you doing that has a weight restriction?"

Horse riding. The biggest horse at the pony trekking centre carries a maximum of 14 stone, and the others have a maximum of 11 stone.

To be on the safe side, as it sounds like she may be over 11st, when I book it I'll ask them to keep that big horse available for her.

They are going to have a brilliant time! Both girls mad about horses.

Thanks again for your help!

She won't necessarily be given the biggest horse. She could easily be given a 14hh cob type. A 16hh TB may only have a 12 stone limit. The biggest ones aren't always the best weight carriers! The thing is they will see her and instantly be able to judge her better than whatever you tell them over the phone anyway.

I'd not worry. I hope they all have a great time!
