Weight watchers referral from NHS

Does anyone know what the criteria is for Weight Watchers referral from NHS. I have a BMI of over 35 and am 26 years old. I have friends a simular age and lower BMI who have been reffered, however when I went to the doctors they refused on the basis of my age? Very confused!

I've not heard of that - I asked my doctor for a referral to a dietician and got knocked back as my BMI is under 40! I didn't know about WW referral or would have asked him...

I asked about this a couple of months ago and was told it has been discontinued. Part of cost cutting it seems. Shame because a friend has done really well after being referred.
