I don't think Xmas is the right time to start dieting. Why not wait til the New Year when everyone will be at it?!!

No1mum your post could be written by me!! i have 2 girls and was size 12 now just had 2nd dd and am a size 16/18 weighing 13stone, i need to lose weight but it is hard at this time of year. i have been trying to go to one exercise class a week and eating healthy and doing more running around after the kids and cleaning, am hoping the weight will come off, when im down to 11 stone i will start swimming probably twice a week.

i have to admit to having some chocolate but that is my weakness everyday is a new day and im not eating it everyday like i was when i was pregnant and will only have a few squares instead of a bar.

why dont you try taking it one day at a time and a few things that helped me when i lost weight after having dd1 (went from 11.7st to 10.6st) were:
eating cereal or fruit instead of junk
smaller portions
tried to stay away from fatty foods (though probably had chips once a week)
weighed myself once a week (even if i hadnt lost any it was better than putting it on)

Hth and maybe we could support each other? im finding it hard too just hate looking in the mirror and cant fit into any clothes and cant afford any more just looking forward to this time next year when i will be thinner!! have to stop thinking aboutt his time last year when i was thinner cause it doesnt do me any good and i now have a beautiful baby girl which i didnt have last year and i wanted to desperatly the sacrifices us mums have to make eh - never the men is it! (should be though cause most men dont care what they look like!)

I am the same and am commiting myself to lose 20lbs in the new year, wanna join me in my quest? Just 20lbs?

puffoeufnog · 28/12/2005 17:57

number1mum - you have my sympathies. I piled on 8 stone {shock] over 4 years. I've now shifted most of it - it can be done .

What's been happening with your eating - are you eating breakfast and are you eating at regular intervals?

I was forgetting breakfast, or was too upset to eat for hours (had a difficult bereavement) and then would be desperate for food about 3pm and start eating piles of all the "no no" foods through til about 9pm. The effect on my weight was disastrous.

Could you start doing a food diary? I did this and began to see how poorly I was looking after myself - I was ensuring my family had good nutritious food, but left myself out of the equation!

If you think joining a club would help, then go for it.

blondie14 · 28/12/2005 22:05

hiya. Me and my partner found doing the food diaries a good idea, we included times that we ate too so we could see if there was a pattern ie boredom etc. Also seeing it written down deteres you slightly from eating too much rubbish. You just have to remember to write EVERYTHING down. Thats the hard part. Good luck in losing weight and hope your spirits lift!

Gracesmum · 29/12/2005 03:04

no1mum good that you are so honest. so i am going to do the same, i am size 20/22 and around 16 stone which was my pre pregnancy weight. i lost all baby weight by 6 week postnatal check and i credit that to breastfeeding. hoped that i would continue loosing but just plattoed? but dd is now 20 months and still same weight.
i am big boredom eater, especially at night when watching tv eating crisps + chocolate. also dh and i have been known to have 2/3 takeaways in a week v bad i know but convienient. am making NY resolution to loose 2st by this time next year. sadeyedlady i am with you on this challenge.

Gracesmum, nice one! I think we all feel the same, horrible and fed up, but lets be positive and start doing something about it. I bought new scales today. I'm going to do it... I am going to lose the weight. I've got a suitcase of old clothes I can't fit into to motivate me!!!
