Help - new body fat scales not working

Went to John Lewis this morning and got their £40 analyser scales which give body fat etc as well as weight. Have put the batteries in, set them all up with my height, age etc all fine but they will not give me a body fat reading - just says error2, which the handbook says means "out of range" or "operator error". Its definitely not operator error - have followed the instructions exactly. Am 5'4", weigh 12.5 stone & think body fat is about 40% last time I checked at gym with one of those hand held thingies. So yes, am fat but surely am not out of range?! Whaddyathink?

I think you should take them back and get some that work

Does it work for anyone else? John Lewis have very good customer service.

One thing though, with mine (tanita) you need to press the button that's for me, then wait for a few seconds before standing on.

40% sounds about right and that wouldn't be out of range, I am also 5 4 and was 40% at start of diet at 12 5.
