I need to lose weight and 8lbs in four weeks is doable (I've done it before) but not crazy starvation-diet reckless. Anyone want to join me?

Hello all, how's today?

I'm feeling very buoyed because I've lost almost 3lbs since Monday - all water weight I reckon. OK, Custard, I take you're point about the fluctuating daily amount and it probably does only count over time but, oh boy, oh boy, is it exciting to see the weight coming down!!! Weehheeeee. I am expecting something of a slow from now on though, obviously.

Pretty much managing to stay inside 1200 calories a day, and tonnes of water. Haven't really been put to the test though as I'm having a quiet week. Next week I've got things on with friends and the following week is Edinburgh Festival stuff which will involve cafes with brownies...

Edinburgh involves chips and sauce for me hehe

custardismyhamster · 04/08/2011 15:07

Lemon-I agree it's brilliant to see it coming down and if you're less each day then fab, but do only write down your weight once a week so you can say I've lose x amount this week.

I am proud of myself because I've found my motivation. I've not done ANY exercise this week but have a lot on at work and very stressed, but happy that I've stuck to the plan (apart from a scoop of ice cream tues night and a flake last night which took me over my syns by about 2, d'oh) but I am still losing so trying not to be TOO hard on myself, it is week 1 of my new plan

OohThatsMyTractor · 04/08/2011 15:17

Can I join please? I would like to lose 8lb to take me to my target weight, I have lost 7lb over the last few months but seem to have plateaued (sp?) lately possibly due to eating far too many crisps and Rachels Rice Pudding, yum I would really appreciate any lunch/day time snack suggestions that anyone has, I think popping into the Co-op to pick up something for lunch may be my downfall!

CherryDrops · 04/08/2011 15:26

I'm also 8lbs from my target weight so I'll join you.

Currently 10st, would like to be 9st 6 again. I'm doing 1200 cals a day and loosely following Dukan (eating some lower carb veg but trying not to eat too much dairy). I've lost 2lbs on this so far, 8lbs to go.

Picturing me in a bikini in two weeks time is my main motivation - I won't be 8lbs down by then but hopefully I'll lose 4 more by then. It's always the last half a stone that's a proper bugger to shift!

butterflyexperience · 04/08/2011 16:18

Hey bananaman Smile
Cyclying 5 k is great! It will definitely help you :)

Today I lost another 1lb! 7 more to go ...

TaffyandTeenyTaffy · 04/08/2011 16:40

I am trying to be a 100% good for August ready for my September holiday so would love to join you guys. I have lost 2 stone doing SW and have just signed up to food focus and need to stick to around 1300 cals a day to shift this next half a stone before my hols. Have been toying with the idea of switching to the Dukan diet so am gonna do mostly red days this week and up the meat and fish and cut the carbs to see whether I could really hack it.

bananamam · 04/08/2011 17:37

I have been drinking lots of water. Weird how you do get used to it and wee less than when you first started Blush

LemonDifficult · 04/08/2011 19:20

OTMT - for diet lunch suggestion can I recommend those Tilda packs of microwaveable rice? There's a brown rice with butternut squash which is particularly tasty, fills me up for ages and is only about 200 caloires (can't remember exactly, but low). If you're restrained with the parmesan you can even put some on top and that's divine.

I'm not timetabling any proper exercise while I'm dieting, just housework stuff, otherwise I get utterly ravenous after working up a sweat and the diet goes out the window...

Rice cakes or Ryvita with reduced fat hummous. Filling and yummy for lunch.

Moderate day today. Must Stay Away From Toast.

CherryDrops · 05/08/2011 09:41

Weighed myself this morning and am half a pound down. 7.5lbs left. Trying not to spend money is helping - means I'm socialising less and so have more control over what I'm eating and less temptation/pressure to eat badly or drink alcohol.

LemonDifficult · 05/08/2011 17:56

Doing OK ish today, I think. Ham and potatoes - no mayo for lunch. I was undone by a couple of pink wafers this afternoon, but I'll take that. No alcohol all week so far.

Same weight today as yesterday.

Can I join? I have put on about 6lbs over past few months due to night time chocolate habit.

I'm doing low cal, made huge batch of vegetable soup today and been drinking loads of water...however think I should of waited till Monday, don't know if i'll cope with weekend of soup Hmm

LemonDifficult · 05/08/2011 23:26

Does it have to be soup?! What diet are you on?

OP posts:
choccybox · 05/08/2011 23:37

I'm just trying for low cal but need something to kill my sweet tooth (i have been over indulging lately) and if I have a few days of soup it normally works.

GreenTeapot · 06/08/2011 06:46

1lb down this morning - yay!

I love the soup idea for damping down a sweet tooth, choccy. I think I'll make a batch of spicy tomato and lentil. It works out about 17p a portion or something and has next to no calories but is seriously filling. Haven't made it for ages so thanks for the inspiration :)

LemonDifficult · 06/08/2011 11:02

GT, that soup sounds scrummy - can I copy? How do you make it?

MonsterBookOfTysons · 06/08/2011 11:10

Can I join please, I have no scales so am the mercy of borrowing my sisters occassionally Grin
I weighed myself a week ago and was 11st 7lbs. Planning on drinking loads of water and low cal. Exercise dvd as I cant get away to do running due to baby and toddler.
Soup is a great idea! :)

GreenTeapot · 06/08/2011 14:17

This is the recipe. I don't bother with celery, or the garnish, but I do add extra carrots.

It tastes like much more than it is, IYSWIM, and it's amazingly easy.

bananamam · 07/08/2011 07:35

Well today was weigh in day for me and I made it to 9stone 9 pounds. So 2 pounds this wkGrin. But this is where I stick. I go between this weight and 9.11stoneAngry so the challenge is on to knock this last 6off. Soup here I come! And green teaGrinGrin

choccybox · 07/08/2011 10:36

That soup sounds nice greenteapot. May try that recipe next week.

I've been avoiding bread, potatoes and rice for the weekend, feel a bit grumpy for it but also have more energy. Managed to do 1 hour on the wii yesterday and exercise video this morning!

Good weigh loss bananaman. Oooh, think i'll have green tea too, and hot water and lemon.

GreenTeapot · 08/08/2011 19:41

Come on you svelte bunch, where are you? Grin

LemonDifficult · 08/08/2011 20:41

Five days forward, one massive christening lunch backwards...

In my defence, it was all utterly yummy and I enjoyed every mouthful so not mindless eating but, y'know, not exactly diet. Shall I tell all about the coronation chicken, greek salad, banoffee meringue...?
