I didn't know where to put this , a relative has severe Autism
has always been a grazer and has gotten heavy recently (size 18+)

us + helpers have tried cutting down etc but she just raids seconds, thirds etc
and has no willpower no really comprehension of what dieting cutting down would mean, I'm at a loss what to do
any advice would really be appreciated?

Depends on health/ living situation I think.

Perhaps in these circumstances its about quality and access to food.

ie no access to unhealthy food - and access only to foods which will will encourage weight loss.

Probably need to sit down with a dietitican with specialist knowledge in this area.

You could try SN board for children, I know she's not child but there could be some parents over there with some experience of this and they are very knowledgable. They've helped me loads. Good luck.

It might be worth getting in touch with Mencap, they may be able to provide some easy-read information about why it's important to have a healthy diet and how to go about it.

I used to work there, and IIRC they had some leaflets which were designed to help people with learning disabilities and their supporters. They have a freephone learning disability helpline which may be able to advise.

Also, the National Autistic Society may have information and advice? Just a thought.

Best of luck.
