androbbob sorry about the gain, but good you've managed to find a class to keep you on track.
blondes sorry about the gain but as noway said it is probably alot of water retention and it shouldn't take too long to get it off again.

noway with regards to the fish, when i did SW, they used to say that fish from the chippy had syns if it was in batter but if you took the batter off it was free, so to me that says that the batter must soak up the oil. I think you are wise to be cautious though and slightly overpoint. hope you have a good time.

I am off to a country house today with the kids. It has a massive adventure playground so the kids can run off some steam and the weather is glorious. we are having a picnic so i am having some tesco sushi 6pp and some fruit with Total 0% 2pp.

NoWayNoHow · 03/06/2011 11:19

vnmum send some of that sunshine to Kent! It's miserable here, especially considering yesterday we were at the outdoor pool in the blazing sun!

HaughtyChuckle · 03/06/2011 11:30

How is all this sunny day?

Aah been bad has 8pp for brek but a carb fest weetabix a WW Ipp slice of toast and a normal slice which I calculated a 3 pp yesterday aaaggh

I have soem questions I'm really stuck
How many points is bread & butter Toast do you add on marg even if its like activia and thinly spread ?

Does anyone use Flora Cuisine?

NoWayNoHow · 03/06/2011 11:39

haughty you just have to look at the specific bread you eat as they are all different. For example, WW pocket guide say that a generic slice of bread is 2pp, but I've worked out both Hovis Seed Sensations and Hovis Hearty Oats (I like my bread to have a little something going for it) and it comes out as 3pp. I do'nt use butter, but with Flora Light it's 1pp for 1tsp, 1pp for 2tsp and 2pp for a tbsp.

Don't use Flora Cuisine, sorry...

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/06/2011 12:11

we all KNOW wine is bad on ww

Just a quick one (or not) - has anyone seen or read anything relating to the psychology of weightloss - why does it work for some people and why do others always struggle? It cant be a simple as having or not having willpower. How do you switch your brain / mind / body for weightloss to work? I permanently struggle with weightloss - it is not for the want of trying, I know what to do, but seem to sabotage myself. I need to defeat / overcome this for the long term, but how?

Some of you have taken a while to lose and get to goal, others have skipped there - I need to change something and I am not talking about portion sizes or no chocolate, etc! I need to get rid of the excuses and shake off the mounting doom as I get to the same point / weight yet again and fail to progress beyond this mountainous plateau.

I know I have to do it for myself, I know how to do it, I know I need to write down everything, I know I need to exercise, I know I need self control, but there is something missing from the puzzle or a link is broken and I need to fix it.

I dont sleep well but I am not a worrier. I am fed up of buying big clothes. I want to lose weight for myself not anyone else (apart from the DC needing to have parents around for ever). I am not unhappy per se but need to get back to a comfortable weight.

Help me please someone! I have definately lost the plot, but need to finish the book. I have been struggling with this for most of my adult life and I hate to think what damage I may have done to my body.

I need fixing! Grin

Daclaireh · 04/06/2011 07:28

Androd I googled it for you, as I am the same, this is what I found-
-Many people who struggle with motivation lose sight of the benefits of losing weight, so start by writing a list of how you would feel if you shifted that extra 2½ stone.
-?People who have struggled with their weight are more prone to the dangers of 'all or nothing' thinking. This means that if they eat a 'bad' food, or miss the gym a few times, they start to tell themselves that they've failed, and may as well give up. Changing this thinking is the key to success.
?If you follow a rigid weight-loss programme, the risk of 'all or nothing thinking' is greatly increased. That's why fad diets usually fail.
?When the diet is broken, the dieter feels like a failure and gives up. Really it was the fad diet that was the failure.?
-Have you ever felt like trying to lose extra pounds or keep them off is just more difficult for you than for other people? Recent research suggests you might not be imagining this. For some people, thanks to a combination of genetics and physiological differences, it really is easier to put on weight and harder to take it off.
Most of these people are women, who have a different genetic blueprint than men. Up until maybe 100 years ago, it was favorable for women to have extra fat stores and efficient metabolisms. This helped to ensure women's survival during times of famine and illness, and women's ability to nourish babies while pregnant and breastfeeding.

These are just afew things I found, (I googled Why some people find it easy to lose weight and others struggle) there was some interesting reads on there.

Daclaireh · 04/06/2011 07:39

I started WW back in Feb and lost 12lbs and then something happened and I lost the motivation, completely, stopped going to the gym, stopped buying the healthy foods. I still feel kinda the same way, like I can't be bothered to bother as it makes me feel depressed by thinking about my weight all the time, but yesterday it was a glorious day so i put on a dress, a dress that i wore while pregnant, I had to wear leggings so my legs didn't rub together, and when I caught myself in a shop window I had to look away quickly as I was horrified by what I saw :(
I have to do it this time, I have to lose weight!!

androbbob · 04/06/2011 08:53

Thanks for that DClaireh - I had a quick google around and one suggests making a list of all the negatives and then make a separate list of positives. This list has to be longer than the negatives one. I guess that would take some time! You then have to try to wipe out the negative ones with the positive ones and then throw away the negative list - gone for ever. The positive list needs to be kept to hand - in a cupboard, in a frame on your desk (!) or on the fridge.

I can lose weight but can put it on very easily. I dont drink so cant give that up! I do wonder if processed food and carbs are the key for me so will be trying to eat clean fresh food this week. It is not good when the weather is warm like this and you feel yuk! Probably not helped by being TOTM so I feel even more bloaty than usual!

Well - melon, nectarine and yoghurt for breakfast for me - off to go and chop this melon up and put in fridge to pick at.

Onwards and upwards! (Or downwards on the scales!)

My new (latest) goal is to remove this 7lbs by the end of June. I will do this by tracking properly and going to class on Monday.

herdingcats · 04/06/2011 09:01

hello everyone. Back from a lovely week in the Isle of Wight, the weather turned out to be fabSmile. I went to a WI and lost 1lb ,to say I was surprised is an understatement.
Also my friends DH is officially stableGrin Grin
Sorry I did not try to catch up with the thread as my washing mountain is beckoning ,and the cupboards are like Mother Hubbards!
Off to meal plan for the week ahead and then start ironing.
Will read through again this evening ,when I can chill out a bit.

SpringFollows · 04/06/2011 10:15

Morning all,

I am back to tracking hard today. Last night had a vegtetable pizza no cheese but packed with tomatoes, peppers, onions. Mmm. And a subway veggie delite for 5 points for lunch.

Where were you on the IoW herding? We are heading there ourselves in a few weeks time- DH is going to do a sailing weekend.

herdingcats · 04/06/2011 13:15

We were in Newbridge, on the Orchards campsite. Hired a car though and went all over the place. Found a fab restaurant in Newport called Olivo, their seafood marinara pasta was fabulous. Also the Blue crab in Yarmouth(need to book) where you can have loads of food for very little points, the fishermans platter is to die for. Where are you staying?

OnlyWantsOne · 04/06/2011 14:39

How do I find out the PP value of some thing I just had at costa - it's not listed on my WW app

herdingcats · 04/06/2011 15:26

What did you have ? I have the eat out book

OnlyWantsOne · 04/06/2011 16:02

I had a medium fruit crush (red berries)

It was made with fruit juice syrup and lots of ice :) was yummy!!!

vnmum · 04/06/2011 16:37

androbbob sorry to hear you are feeling a little disheartened. I too seem to put the weight back on very easily and quickly if i go off plan. I also agree that processed foods and carbs could be an area that you can look at. I have used a weight loss hypnosis cd before which i did find made a difference to how i thought, it was by Glenn Harold. I'm sure there are reasons some people lose weight easily and others don't and i do think it is to do with how your body deals with different foods but not quite sure how you find out

Daclaireh · 04/06/2011 18:24

Anyone know the pp of a bottle of Stella? I thought 4?

herdingcats · 04/06/2011 19:17

OnlyWantsOne- Primo -6PP Medio -8PP Massimo -10PP
daclaireh - 5% french lager 250ml 3PP
Had a lovely tea tonight Prawn and feta salad 8PP followed by strawberry creme brulee 2PP. I'm so full ,and 6PP to spare for a nice glass of vino , result Grin

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/06/2011 19:24
