I am going to try and lose weight (yet again!) and have decided to try cutting out tea, coffee, alcohol and bread (as well as choc, cakes etc!).

Has anyone tried doing this and does it work?

Also I need you to be hard on me if I dont lose any weight! I dont want to let you down!

Will you help me? please!

Excellent lucycinco! Yep we could be diet buddys! (who said bores?!). I joined WW ages ago but felt I was wasting my money just being weighed and was not earning a lot then! I have done the points diet but get so bored on it!

I just want to have a healthy way of eating iykwim! How much do you want to lose?

kama - I was hoping someone would say that it does make a difference!

I realistically need to lose 2.5 stone - I weigh approx 12 stone (heaviest Ive ever been) and am 5ft 4. Should weigh between 9.5 and 10 stone I think for a healthy BMI!

I put on 2 stone with having kids and cant seem to shift it. I am also going to try and find an aerobics class to do. Could do a fitness video at home but the kids hyjack the tv!

Ww have got this new diet, well new to Spain anyway. You dont have to count anything, you just have a list of foods you can eat. It looks quite good. I think ill go for a few weeks and get the whole diet because they do tend to do it in stages, the money grabbers and then do it myself. I do find the whole meeting thing quite depressing.

JenumGeranium · 09/11/2005 11:04

Oh yeah we had that too - is it called no count?

I did that for a couple of weeks and did manage to lose a few pounds!

Just fell off the wagon again!

i did ww after both babies, top tips of mine are

have black tea and coffee

make sandwiches without butter or marg (i couldnt live without bread or toast!)

best sandwich is 2 slices of toast with cucumber tomato radish rocket salt and pepper - only 2 points

vegetable curries and soups

cup a soups

good luck

nailpolish · 09/11/2005 11:14

also

steer clear of pasta and rice, unless you have a really small portion

red meat was something else i cut out

dont buy any crisps or biscuits to have in the house

best breakfast is a pile of fruit like a whole melon or oranges and grapes

ww own brand stuff like yoghurts are not too bad, i would pour the yoghurt over the fruit sometimes

JenumGeranium · 09/11/2005 12:00

Thanks for the tips nailpolish!

I've been dieting a long, long time, and as far as I can make out, cutting calorie intake definitely results in weight loss, and 'yo-yo dieting' isn't a myth - I've gained a bit of extra weight every time I've been on a diet. So you have to make sure it's sustainable for you. It sounds like you're planning to cut out a lot of things be careful you don't end up trying to starve the weight off!

good luck with it all.

This has to be a record for the oldest resurrected thread. It's 20 years old! How did you even find it!?

LittlePaintBox · 06/05/2025 16:26

I don't know! It was quite late and I was very tired, but I hadn't searched for threads on weight loss or similar. I rarely look at the dates on posts I reply to!
