Having read the book I understand the need to have a diet buddy, do you want to join me?

I was looking at that. Do you have to spend loads of money on supplements and organic food?

theothermrsclooney · 07/05/2011 11:33

The first 2 weeks are protein and veg plus daily multi vitamin. They recommend organic but I reckon you get what you can afford! The book was about £4 on Amazon my only outlay so far as I take a multi vitamin every day already.

I will join you, have had an omelette and salad so far

fitflopqueen · 07/05/2011 16:57

Not used to typing on phone, I have the book and recipe book. Have just started sw but this would suit me better just won't go mad on fats. Need to shift 2 stone.:(

theothermrsclooney · 07/05/2011 22:44

What's sw?

Glad you're joining me! I've had wine and chocolate tonight before starting tomorrow. I want/need to loose a stone. I've lost 2 stone since having DC2 but this last stone won't go and I've lost motivation. I loose a couple of pounds then put them back on again. I'm hoping the structure of this diet and having someone else doing it will keep me on track.

Weigh in tomorrow morning?

OP posts:
fitflopqueen · 07/05/2011 23:19

sw = slimming world. going there for weekly weigh, no scales at home. have also just registered on myfitnesspal to do food diary. My weight has crept up as recently gone full time at work and had stressful few months, thats now settling down and not doing so much travelling so should be able to get out on my bike regularly now.

theothermrsclooney · 08/05/2011 08:55

Morning, just weighed myself 13 stone 5lbs. I'm 6' tall so 12 stone 5 would me to a healthy BMI. Menu for today cottage cheese omelette for breakfast, sardines and salad for lunch and roast chicken with cauliflower mask & broccoli for dinner.

I understand the impact of stress. I went back to work 10 months ago and it's been particularly full on over the past 6 months with quite a lot of travel. I do find it harder to loose weight when stressed and have been getting quite frustrated by it! I think the idea of a food diary is a good idea!

Here we go, good luck!

evening, I am 5'6" and 12 stone 2, lost 2 pounds on SW, have had a late cooked breakfast/brunch (bacon, egg, sausage, mushrooms) and asparagus with parmesan, salad and small piece of pizza this evening, drinking water, tea and coffee with s/s milk as normal. walked for about an hour today.
Tomorrow will be better, kids at school, will do shred DVD.

theothermrsclooney · 09/05/2011 09:15

I've heard about Shred but feel exhausted just reading about it. I have Davina's Power of 3 DVD and need to get it out, blow off the dust and start doing it again. This is the hardest part for me. I leave home 7.30 ish and get home at about 6. I spend some time with DCs and by the time they're asleep I can't be bothered. I did manage a half an hour walk an Sat evening and took DS for long scooter ride yesterday (he scooted, I walked/ran to catch up).

Stuck to IPD yesterday, had some cauliflower mash with roast chicken and broccoli for dinner and have to say the mash was yummy, even DH liked it.

Another cottage cheese omelette for breakfast today, I can't face eating meat first thing. In meetings today so little temptation, have left over chicken and salad for lunch.

Enjou your day!

OP posts:
WomanwiththeYellowHat · 09/05/2011 13:42

can I join? I am sort of doing IPD, although I know from the other times I have done it that I have a tendency to eat my own body weight in cheese which, as India will tell you, defeats the whole point!

I have a stone to lose before our family holiday inn 7 weeks, as I absolutely refuse to loathe looking at myself on the photos again and, of course, on last year's holiday I was absolutely certain I would be sylph like by this year's.....

Just feel I am going round the same cycle each year - daughter's birthday early May, hate the photos, lose some weight before holiday, go crazy on moules marinieres and chips, give up for rest of summer, half-arsed attempt in autumn, defeated by Christmas and then ignore the problem until daughter's birthday. DD2 is now 2 so this will be the third time through the cycle unless I break it so here goes...

1 am 5"7 and weigh 12 st now - my fighting weight is 10st 10lbs. My DH is away fro the week for work and I am convinced this is the moment to get started - we both lack discipline and are not great for each other in that sense! I am going for the classic 2lbs a week to get down to 11st by holiday time......

so far yoghurt & black coffee for b fast and a mushroom soup for lunch. Salmon steak and omlette for tea!

fitflopqueen · 09/05/2011 14:33

Hi dora, the more the better (not food obviously!)
breakfast - yogurt, tea
lunch - omlette (actually the dukan galette, made with 2 eggs, quark & oatbran, herbs, makes it less eggy Hmm). apple.
snack - yogurt again (doing low fat ones)
dinner - ratatouille and ?sausages or chicken,
trying to drink lots of water - use a sports bottle, seems easier that way and herbal teas.
am feeling less bloated since I've reduced carbs (best not tell sw leader that) and hopefully will have lost a bit of weight later in week

theothermrsclooney · 09/05/2011 16:46

Hi Dora, welcome!

I've stuck to my plan for breakfast and lunch plus a small handful of nuts. I am usually starving by this point of the day but oddly just feel thirsty (really want a cup of tea with MILK) but will continue with the water/herbal tea. I've lost a lot of weight over my time, I was a large teenager (emotional eater) but lost weight(5 stone) in my early 20s and then kept it off until pregnant with DD nearly 6 yrs ago. I had just got back to an acceptable weight when I found out I was pregnant with DS (3 years ago). I've really thought about how I loose weight and I've realised I need the discipline of a very structured diet. Rules suit me! I think I've avoided this in the past year as I've been concerned about passing on body image issues to DD. DH says I'm over sensitive and only think that way because I was a fat child. I don't want to be a fat mum so I need to deal with it!

Sorry just read some of my posts, I'm obviously struggling typing on a blackberry! Mmmmm yummy juicy blackberries...

OP posts:
WomanwiththeYellowHat · 09/05/2011 18:07

I have actually now had some brown rice, veg and prawns Hmm & yoghurt for tea and had a snack of cottage cheese and nuts. Obv that should now be it for the day.....

Early night methinks!

fitflopqueen · 10/05/2011 21:30

checking in as this is a reminder to continue to be good.
Breakfast - dukan galette
lunch - salad at work (no decent protein so had lots of mushrooms)
snack - yogurt
dinner - baked cod, ratatouille and salad, yogurt.
sadly no exercise though and now settled down for Apprentice.

theothermrsclooney · 11/05/2011 23:14

I'm finding the food part of this diet fine but am really not exercising unless you count lifting my water glass a hundred times a day! Work has been manic, I've worked until 11 the last 3 nights (just finished) and tell myself I can't spare half an hour to go for a walk. Promise to self, walk tomorrow, Davina on Friday (won't be able to walk on Saturday for different reasons!)

OP posts:
fitflopqueen · 12/05/2011 06:20

My exercise still remains sadly lacking, food wise feeling fine, not very hungry and not really missing anything. We did have a chinese take out last night though, had beef & black bean, spoonful of rice, few noodles and a glass of wine (first for a week!). will make up today by doing pure protein and drinking more water. have been logging food on myfitnesspal and am keeping pretty much to 1200 Kcal although not counting.
Will get weighed tomorrow morning, need to do some tummy exercises!

theothermrsclooney · 12/05/2011 09:19

Fingers crossed for your weighing fitflopqueen! I've weighed myself this morning and have lost 5lbs! It doesn't seem possible because I've not felt hungry.

OP posts:
MumPotNoodle · 12/05/2011 09:42

Been lurking here as I bought the book for £1 in a charity shop yesterday Grin. Mrsclooney 5lbs in less than a week EnvySmile, well done.

theothermrsclooney · 12/05/2011 14:23

Welcome mumpotnoodle. Feel free to join in! I've stuck religiously to the diet other than a cup od decaf tea with normal milk after DCs have gone to bed. I had to weigh myself on day 2 because I couldn't believe I could loose weight with what I was eating and lost 1 lb on day 1!

OP posts:
brighthair · 18/05/2011 12:55

I've dropped from a BMI of 32 to 28 on this diet, and shifted about 26lbs since January. I am slipping slightly - mainly because I am off food at the moment. I go through stages like this where I literally am hungry, but don't know what to eat/everything isn't what I want to eat!
I have cheated, a few times, but try and stick to the main principles. I haven't put any weight back on which I am really happy with, but I do have another 2 stone to lose
