low(er) cal drinks with alcohol in 'em?

So I am on a diet.

But I don't want to stop drinking alcohol (even though I know it's fattening!).

I have been drinking my other half's lager from the fridge tonight, which is no good at all.

So what do other people drink at home? Vodka and diet tonic?

Or what else?

Your helpful low calorie hints appreciated.

Vodka and diet coke or fizzy water.

Try gin/vodka with soda and a squeeze of fresh lime juice. I can't bear artificial sweetener, so that works for me.

Basically, avoid anything sweet, sugary or creamy. Dry wine is better than sweet wine; stuff like Bacardi Breezers is a no-no. Lager isn't bad, actually.

Vodka with any low calorie mixer is good - asda do a bitter cranberry and bitter lemon (near the tonic) which are very tasty. Also like Ginger ale, which is also good with whisky if you like that.

I'm a fan of vodka with lemon juice, lime juice and soda water.

Actually, I should add that I used to love lime cordial but for some reason my local asda don't sell it, then I got tesco lime cordial and it's disgusting (really saccharine tasting) so I ended up just using lime juice with a bit of lemon and it's far nicer with no nasty additives.

Right - thanks for all these suggestions!

This morning I have been to the shops to fill up on soda water, diet tonic and QueenStromba I have bought 2 bags of limes. I already have a dusty looking bottle of vodka.

I will try it all out tonight. If I am back on here at midnight typing crap you will know I have been caning the diet mixers a bit too hard.
