Any aspect of this is the best choice you could make, somebodynew!

SilveryMoon · 17/05/2011 08:06

Morning.
PA Remember, if necessary tell your friend that you would love to eat more but Paul Mckenna has done something to your brain and you can't eat anymore. Wink
SomebodyNew Welcome. Yes, that is a good choice. It's the one I've got and is great.

A teeny little problem I am finding with eating what I want, is that because i am a big fat bloater, I try to keep a minimal amount of food in the house at any one time.
I do the supermarket run every day, and only buy enough food for that one day just to cover lunch and dinner.
So then, when it comes to evening and after I have had a tiny dinner with the dc's as I've not been hungry, there's not much around to have, which is why I eat lots of bread.
I'm gonna have to change the way I shop aren't I?

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 17/05/2011 08:15

In a word Silvery, yes :) Buy a few snacks/foods that you thoroughly enjoy - for me that was cheese/pate/crackers/chutney.

OP posts:
SilveryMoon · 17/05/2011 08:18

Will do. Thanks howto Not exactly sure what snacky things I really enjoy. I love chocolate, but I cannot keep control over that, so think that's got to be off the menu for a while. Gonna start doing the permanent buster on that today.

What's everyone else got for snacks? Inspire me Smile

ppeatfruit · 17/05/2011 08:21

Could you cook e.g. whole rice and a stew or whatever on a day when you've time and freeze it in meal sizes so ready when you feel hungry. But remember it's not WHAT you eat it's if you're really hungry.

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 17/05/2011 08:23

Sweet or savoury? I also enjoy bagels with philly, hummus & breadsticks, nice deli ham just eaten on its own - though tbh I get different notions every day, so I enjoy a wee walk to the shop to choose something that I really want! Yesterday I was hankering for some nuts, so bought a bag of brazils/walnuts/almonds/cashews. It took surprisingly few to satisfy my hunger!

OP posts:
SilveryMoon · 17/05/2011 08:24

Yeah, I could do, but I reaaly don't like heating food from frozen.............but I suppose it's that or nothing. Anything that needs to be in the fridge, gets bought, forgotten about and then thrown away

SilveryMoon · 17/05/2011 08:26

Yes, maybe I could start taking a walk to the shops in the evening on my own, that would be nice. I love supermarkets Blush
I especially love stationery sections, not for anything to eat obviously, am just saying.......Hmm

ppeatfruit · 17/05/2011 08:28

silvery and knave as a nanny, teacher and mum of 3. IMO 3 yr olds are needing to feel they have some control of their little lives so humour them and allow them freedom to choose etc.I know it's not easy when you're in a rush!

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 17/05/2011 08:30

I also have a threenager! He is saint compared to my 11 yo though - she is the whole making me pull my hair out!

onesandwichshort · 17/05/2011 08:44

I'm with you on the nuts too, for some reason I've really started wanting them as well.

ppfruit - if you've got any tips on dawdling (I have a 4 year old who can take half an hour to get from one side of a room to the other) I'd love to hear those!

SilveryMoon · 17/05/2011 09:01

Oh, I always give him a choice......."walk on your own sensibly, or I'll drag you" Wink

SoloIsAHotCougar · 17/05/2011 09:51

Just wanted to say this:

The words 'big, fat bloater' are just not allowed! Attitude to ones body needs to change. I started to glance look in the mirror each morning and managed to go from ugh, yuk, fat, euw and hate myself to 'looking goood! getting there, wow! I've changed and look better ' and that's when the weight started to go. Try it those of you that are self loathers. Change the way you think of yourselves. Please.

Niecie · 17/05/2011 10:10

Morning ladies.

Top appetite suppressant tip of the day - whilst walking your youngest child to school, trip over your own feet and body surf across a road. Be sure to take a good chunk of skin off your hands so that they sting nicely. Have somebody come to see if you are OK who, when they heard the sound flab hitting tarmac, thought it was your DS that tripped over because 44 yr olds don't fall over their own feet, do they? (Oh yes they do!Hmm)

Drop your youngest DS at school and then go to the elder ones school to drop off some photo money (being as you are so disorganised today is the last day to hand it in) and end up having the school secretary putting a dressing on your wounds like you were once again at the Juniors. Oh and when you get home be sure to notice the adornment of road grit you have been walking around with all over your jumper.

Strangely, although I was feeling peckish before taking DS2 to school, I am not now. Lets hope shock doesn't set in and end up with me have some medicinal chocolate later this morning. Smile

To those of you who have lost some weight that amounts to more than a chunk of skin off your hands, well done. If I don't get a move on, losing serious amounts of weight myself, I shall be the only one left on this thread!

And hello to the newbies. Nice to see you. Smile

Niecie · 17/05/2011 10:12

Silvery - I love supermarkets too - you aren't alone. The magazine section is very bad but I also love the books and stationary too.

SilveryMoon · 17/05/2011 10:25

Sorry solo You are right though, we do need to be nice to ourselves.
Niecie Hope you're ok.
I have a sneaky feeling I might be here for a while yet!! I don't even know how much I'm supposed to weigh for my height.............gonna google it now and see if I can find out.

SilveryMoon · 17/05/2011 10:29

Ok, apparently, for my height I should be between 10 and 12 stone. So if I aim for 12 stone, I have about 4 to lose. well, 1 lb at a time hey?

Niecie · 17/05/2011 10:41

Crikey - Following Silvery's example, I just googled my ideal weight and found something that got you to measure your frame size too. Apparently I am large framed and I shouldn't be less than 10st 3lbs. That probably explains why, when I got to 9st 7lb around the time I got married, instead of looking fab, I actually looked gaunt! I think I felt my best at 10st 4lb which I was for a good while. I would be pleased with 11st now I think.

I have nearly 6st to lose. Sad

SilveryMoon · 17/05/2011 10:58

It sounds like alot doesn't it?
Maybe we shouldn't have googled the ideal weight and just gone to how we felt.
Am sure it'll be easy enough once we really get the hang of this and cut down on the slip ups Wink

SoloIsAHotCougar · 17/05/2011 11:06

Gee up ladies! don't get disheartened! I kept doing that and it really doesn't help you lose weight. 1lb at a time is the way to do it and you will get there! be positive!

Niecie! you daft woman! sort of thing I'd do too Grin hope you are Ok though...blame it on hormones like I do! it's the embarrassment more than the pain isn't it?

SoloIsAHotCougar · 17/05/2011 11:13

10st 3lbs Hmm I wish I hadn't bothered with that. I now need to lose over another 3st...that made me a lb short of 5st overweight! yowser! Shouldn't have looked. Should've just kept going blind fashion.

BsshBossh · 17/05/2011 11:37
DottyDot · 17/05/2011 11:54

DON'T LOOK!!! We are where we are and the only way is forward! Grin Fairly positive today and might finally get the chance to listen to the CD at some point!

TheOriginalFAB · 17/05/2011 11:59

Hello everyone Smile.

I will read the new posts in a bit. I have to confess I did have a small amount of ice cream last night but don't feel bad. Does the not feeding guilty about eating also mean no justifying as well? Confused.

shrinkingnora · 17/05/2011 12:17

STOP WITH THE GOOGLING YOU BUNCH OF MAD WOMEN!!!!

Eat nice food, don't overeat, do a bit of exercise and feel happy with your body . Everyone is so different. I looked better at my current weight when I was fit than I did when I was a stone lighter and not so fit. One size does not fit all.

Fab - I think just accept and move on if you know you weren't hungry when you had the icecream. It sounds like you were in control of the food if it was a small amount. And I'm glad you don't feel bad.

I am due my fortnightly weigh in this afternoon but think I may not bother. I like not knowing!
