Hi

I have had the mirena coil for just over a year now and have put on massive amounts of weight!! I have put on around 1 1/2 stone!!!!!! I go to the gym at least 3 times a week but try to go 4. i do a hard work out for an hour and am actually quite fit for a fatty!! But what is really annoying is the fact that despite all this I never seem to lose weight. Infact it is the oppposite the pounds just seem to creep on. It is really getting me down now. Has anyone else had the same problems with the mirena coil? I am going to get an appointment with the doctors hopefully next week but just wanted to hear from anyone else who may of had the same problems!

I have had a myrena coil for 2 months and I have to say that it has been the worst time of my life. Bleeding was the reason for having it inserted as I suffer from heavy periods. Bleeding wise it has been a miracle, none at all. BUT awful thoughts, even suicidal ones! Depression, anxiaty, nervoussness, panic attacks, every day, all day. I even went to A&E last week because of it. You can think I am mental, but the coil was driving me insane! Guess what? The doctor at the hospital told me that is very common to have these secondary effects!!! Please don't wait to have it removed if you feel low. Better to be weak or aneamic than Depressed! And last tip: the nurse didn't want to remove it asshe said it was not a good reason!!! Even if thedictor said so. At the end sherecognised me that it is because it costs NHS 300£. Excuse me dear nurse, my life is more valuable than that! And secondly I pay my taxes. Shame on this nurse! Amazing that she is a woman!
I will NEVER again be under a hormonal treatment.

I have mine put in 2 years ago, I have gained 2 stones. I am not eating a lot and i exercise regularly. It helped my bleeding problems as I don't seem to have periods any more, but I am heavier than ever.
