Hypnoband - anyone done it?

Looking into hypnoband, basically you are hypnotised into believing you've had a gastric band fitted. Takes a few sessions and testimonials online look good - anyone have any experience? Need to lose 15kgs and failed miserably at WW, SW, Dukan, Atkins etc etc, been on a diet since I was 13 and hoping for a solution.

I am really interested in this too.

When it was first available it was only through a couple of Spain and I don't fly so now it's hit the UK, I'm going to save up I think and do it before I'm 40 (only 7 years to go!!!).

The only place I've read about in the UK is in Harley Street.
Will await with interest.

Vingate there are loads of practitioners through the official website here - should be able to find someone near you.

Just waiting for a load of MN success stories now Wink

I'm having a virtual gastric band next month . It's not through a Hypnoband practitioner so more of a lottery but it was £50 through Groupon and I thought it was worth a go. Did think about doing Hypnoband and have been keeping it as an option if WW stopped working for me. Weightloss has been slowing a bit for me and I'm looking at the hypnotherapy to give me a boost rather than be the main cause of weightloss.

Have a friend who is a practice nurse and she knows a lady who has had what I think is probably Hypnoband done and she is losing weight at the same rate as a lady with a real gastric band.

Let us know how you get on WBN. Official hypnoband is more expensive (and you can double the prices for where I live) but would be interested to hear how you do. Good luck!

WBN - I cannot wait to hear about your results.

Have tried to speak to my DH today about the idea and he's so anti-anything-hypno, he won't even discuss it.

He doesn't only think it's a waste of money but something that takes over your mind in a dangerous way!

I truly believe that hypno weightloss may be the last option and having seen so much overwhelming evidence of how great it is, I need to prove to him that it can work.

I'll report in when I've had it, though I'm probably not the best test subject as I intend to carry on sticking to WW which is working well for me at the moment. I felt I was getting a bit stuck when I saw it on Groupon but have started lowing again and am looking at it as a way to keep the momentum up as still have 48lbs to lose, having lost 55lbs so far.

Wow, WBN, that weight loss rocks!!! Well done.

Hi, I had a hypno band last year, I did lose weight with it, around 30lbs but my body does not think I have had a gastric band. I would recommend it as my hypnotherapist has only had 2 people who it has not worked for. For me the sessions before the band was fitted were more beneficial and it helped my motivation and willpower to lose weight, my mindset changed as in I could physically eat a larger portion but as I wanted to lose weight I didnt. Hope this helps xx

vintageteacups · 15/04/2011 18:55

misstilly- how does your body know when to stop thinking you need to eat less and you can level off and remain the same without gaining again?

misstilly · 23/04/2011 00:09

Your body is never meant to be able to eat more, the virtual band is meant to be permanent the same as an actual band. It just didnt work for me. I do find the cds helpful in motivating me and eat less as a result.
