Dukan -low fat, low carb and high protein.

Allowed every day: meat, fish, eggs (2 only), poultry, fat free dairy (up to 500g), tofu, quorn. Coffee, tea and diet drinks are allowed.

Allowed every second day: all types of vegetables.

Not allowed until weight loss achieved: fruit, limited amounts "brown" carbs.

I used it for the last stone of baby weight, the first 2 stone shifted on low calorie diet, dukan gave me second wind once I reached plateau.

Also going to say 9 stone sounds quite light for 5 foot 6, if you go to dukan website he gives your recommended target weight. Mine is 9 stone 6 and I am 5 foot 4. It depends on what weight in past you have been easily able to maintain.

I did go on the website and it sai 8st 10 lb which I though was too low for me.
I think if I aim for 9stone I can stop if when I fit into my clothes.

Much better than Atkins. Really effective. Weight loss happens quickly. Best diet I've ever done. Mostly not hungry. Easy to follow. Would highly recommend it!

no way! it just told me i should be 8st 8! i have never weighed that little, even when i was coxing rowing crews...

I did once get under 9 stone but I was training for a triathlon and eating really well.

Mari what books did you buy - what's essential ?

You don't need to buy any books. Here is an Example Menu you could follow for 5-10 days:

www.mydukandiet.com/dieting/example-menu-for-the-dukan-diet-attack-phase.html

And here's the recipes:

You don't need to buy the book, but if you are going to follow for any length of think its a good idea particularly if you want to devise your own recipies.

I think my true weight is higher because I was 12 5 after DS2. He has a theory that your body remembers its highest ever weight....

Dilligaf81 · 11/04/2011 20:37

foreverondiet I bloody hope not. Ive got 4 DC and the max I put on was over 5 stone Shock.

Thanks MN I knew youd be able to help me. Ill start it on Monday.

Was depressing bit in the book, he reckons that if your BMI ever goes over 28 even very temporarily (other than during pregnancy) (mine did while BFing DS2 (DC3) then your fat cells divide so you have twice as many and hence weight loss and maintaining weight loss is always harder after that point.

Do not pay for the coaching on the dukan website as its a con...

Dilligaf81 · 11/04/2011 21:36

SHIT SHIT SHIT !

Surely there must be a time limit if he doesnt include preg weight no one loses the weight with the baby (if you did dont tell me it was be very depressing)

Its just his theory. I was so stressed about but it that I googled everything on making fat cells disappear and I have been taking green tea supplements as someone else thought they helped kill off the fat cells. Oh I am so mad!

I put on a stone whilst BFing so I has BMI over 28 for around 2-3 months. He does say in the book, even for a day or something. Meanwhile I have lost the weight and am pretty much the lightest I have ever been as an adult. Will have to see if I can maintain.
