Starvation mode when low carbing - a myth or true?

I'm 6 days into a low carb diet - No bread/pasta/rice. Eating lots of lean meat/eggs/salad/veg and limited fruit. My diet 'before' was shocking - far too much stodge and grease and mayo on everything.

I've been using MyFitnessPlanner to count my daily calories and I seem to be averaging around 1000 a day. Typical day's food is

Breakfast - 2 poached eggs + 2 chipolatas. Bowl of blueberries with low fat yogurt.

Lunch - Rocket/Watercress/Tomato/Onion salad with low fat vinagrette and small tin of tuna.

Dinner - Chicken breast pizzaiola with loads of veg and salad.

Snacks - v small quantities of walnuts/cheese/ham or turkey.

Drinking loads of water and still having a sneaky glass of vino at the weekend.

I genuinely feel satisfied and full. I don't want to eat more just for the sake of it.

Will my body really not lose fat eating like this? I find it confusing!

Think that looks fine, of course you'll loose eating that... and you can save your spare calories a day for the weekend. I eat similar but generally having 1200 calories (and no chipolatas) so your protein portions must be small.

It's a myth, thanks DuplicitousBitch (great name), that's a great link. If you're satisfied, definitely don't eat more. You might even find you could eat a bit less.

I just googled pizzaiola and it sounds awesome. What's your recipe?

Great link - thanks DuplicitousBitch. And you too foreveronadiet Smile.

Feel much more reassured now.

Jumpty - I just make a basic tomato sauce using onion, garlic, tinned tomatoes and reduce it down, add fresh herbs, a few black olives. Whack it on top of the grilled chicken and add wee bit of mozzarella then place under grill. It's gorgeous!
