Bloating...

I have started to eat healthily and exercise. I've been doing this for nearly a month and feel great!

The only thing is, my stomach gets terribly bloated. It did before the healthy foods too, so I think it's just my system more than the food I put in it. Sometimes my stomach can be flat (ish!) and at other times, it's hard and I look 5 months pg.

I wonder whether anyone else has the same problem? I'm looking for something Holland and Barrettish to banish the bloat, any tips?

I don't drink fizz, only water and the occasional coffee, and food is mainly veg with a bit of meat or fish.

Try changing any refined carbs for wholegrains. If I eat white rice, pasta or bread I bloat terribly, but I'm fine with wholemeal or brown versions.

Thanks biggerthanmyhead. I'm currently off carbs almost completely, and it annoys me that I'm still bloating...

Good article about this in this months health and fitness magazine. It said to avoid fruit after a meal, avoid cabbage/similar vegetables, fizzy drinks, chewing gum. Worth having a look at the article.

Oh thanks foreveronadiet. I eat tons of cabbage- Love it- So shall have a look.

Could it be IBS? I had terrible bloating and doctor thought it was probably IBS, I found that it was wheat that was causing me problems, I now aviod it and am a lot better ,though I think there is something else that I react to as I still have some problems. Its so anoying when I look thin in the morning then a few hours later I look huge.

ConstanceFelicity · 02/04/2011 21:32

I'm exactly like that, whiteelefant! Only it can't be wheat or dairy... Am eating only vegetables and meat/fish now on this healthy eating kick...

I thought mine was IBS but this article in H&F was about bloating.... and I found that all the triggers (listed in the magazine) where things that made me bloated - so maybe its not IBS just I'm very susceptible to bloating.... I have looked online but its not there you'll have to look at the actual magazine.
