Its so small.

am not hungry.. just wanting to eat something that isnt salad or plain vegetables.

but after breakfast and lunch there doesnt appear to be many cals left for any kind of half decent, and still non cheating dinner.

clearly this is why im over weight.....

tookoolforskool - i go to the gym 3x a week and that generates extra calories - I only maybe eat 100 of them on the day on exercise and then use the rest for occasions like going out for a meal. Seems to be working.

Im doing myfitnesspal and on 1200 cals too. I also think it is a small amount. I do some exercise most days so I can eat more. 30 day shred 167 cals, walking everywhere with baby/buggy often an hour (or two) per day), 20/30 min run once a week.

Doing exercise is the only way I can stick to my calorie goal. It is working really well.

MFP is great for learning how much to eat, how many calories are in things and what works for your body.

Hello ladies, I started using myfitnesspal yesterday and am also on ~1200 cals (love the android app!). I just had a question about the exercise, at the gym I do about 30 min cardio and 20 min weights/resistance excerises. I can enter in the 'strength' exercises but it doesn't give me any extra calories for this. I know it won't burn much I do get sweaty/raised heart rate doing them and that extra 30-or whatever allowance makes a difference now, am I filling it in wrong?

I would have counted this time as at least gentle exercise under the WW system, now I'm confused Confused Thanks.

foreverondiet · 29/03/2011 18:54

Spangers if you enter weight training under cardio it does give you some credit for it!

Spangers · 29/03/2011 19:27

Aha! Thanks, I was entering it in the wrong place Smile

am saving exercising for when i hit a weight loss plateau.

i was doing the shred before xmas and i loved it, but i know, and i dont quite know why.. but it slowed down my weight loss. seeing as i am over weight, i want to get a bit off first.. then when it slows i shall start and use it as a boost.

i already do about 45 mins walking a day as well. which im not logging.

anyway - today i was not hungry at all and ive still got cals left so have had a square of chocolate :)

i think i was just stuck in a salad rut. which was pissing me off. ive had two hot meals today, omlett and cod, so am feeling a lot better. i think it was the lack of hot 'meal' that was making me feel so crap.

ive been doing this calorie limit too, have lost two stone now. I cant eat bread or salad as it makes me bloat but i do have a really sweet tooth and eat lots of fruit.
breakfast is weetabix and milk with a coffee, coffee at breaktime, for lunch i have a muller light yogurt with oatbran mixed in, to bulk it out a bit and then something like, 36g grapes, 36g of bluberries, a necatrine or plum or something. mid afternoon i have a bag of snackajacks and tea is usually jacket potato, cucumber and cheese or beans or tuna etc, my boys prefer jacket pots to chips or mash so is really good. i drink lots of water all day too, i find if i dont drink much water, it slows down my weight loss

tookoolforskool · 29/03/2011 20:00

well done pinkheart. how long has it taken you?

Hmmm after reading this, I'm not overly convinced My Fitness Pal. I also have this app and it gave me a limit of 1200 cals. Everyone I've read here has the same limit of 1200 but calories needed should surely be based on size, weight etc. and I can't believe we are all the same size and weight.

I'm using calorie counter app and it tells me my limit should be 1700 calories a day to lose weight. Okay I am a porky porker so my BMR is quite high but 1700 gives me a good 500 calorie deficit a day, before I add in exercise. I also checked Jillian Michaels website, MaxiMuscle, some other BMR calculator and they all said 1700 calories. I have started losing weight - lost 5 pounds in the first week.

I just think 1200 is too low a starting point but like I say, I may just be sizeably larger than all you other lovely ladies Smile

tookoolforskool - its took me since last sept, i have always struggled to lose weight and this calorie counting seems to be the only thing thats worked. i had a break over the christmas holiday and went up a dress size again, so started back on it again in february. but its took till this week for people to actually notice and have had lots of comments this week, i was a size 20, not down to a 14 so ver happy!
