Alternatives to bread please

I can take or leave potatoes and rice. Pasta is a bit harder but I can easily eat less of that. What I'm struggling to cut down on is bread. Lunch is what i find the hardest as breakfast is ok now I've swapped my morning toast for Weetabix. I'm not fond of soups and switching to salads isn't going to last once I stop on the diet. What I really need is a good alternative to bread please which is as quick to prepare for lunch as a sandwich. Is there such a thing??

well - baked potato is relatively quick to prepare if you have a microwave; rice salads can be bought easily, or you can boil up some brown rice early in the week and then add different things to it each day.

But if you're trying to cut carbs out completely then that's a bit harder. Bean salads are good - are you preparing stuff yourself or buying it for lunch?
I used to have a tin of mackerel in brine, mix it in with salad stuff and nuts.
Or hard boiled eggs - good for protein, come in their own carry-case, easy to peel.
Avocadoes are easy as well, but you do probably need more salad to go with them.

Could you make extra when making your dinner the night before and put it in a tupperware to quickly heat up the next day? Leftovers are always good.

You can get low carb tortillas, bread etc as a last resort :)

Wraps?

oatcakes are nice and not as carby as bread - also no wheat of course

Hummous and crudities (carrots, cucumber, pepper etc).

Oatcakes are really good - I have cut out all wheat from my diet and have lost weight - but am also avoiding potatoes/rice and carby root veggies.

ok....

Well weetabix also contains carbs...., and wheat so wasn't sure.

I have been having either eggs or tesco greek (low fat) yoghurt with berries and a couple desertspoons of muesli for breakfast.

Lunch at work has been having low fat fromage frais with tuna, or salad with protein (tuna or cottage cheese or turkey slices or smoked salmon etc). Also bought some oat cakes....

From what you say though low carb wraps sound like good option. My plan is to stick to protein breakfast and have 2 slices soya and linseed bread as its low GI and 2 slices of bread a day (on work days only) is ok.

The soya and linseed bread has less carbs per slice than one weetabix.... so maybe reinstate the morning toast?
