low carb diet, if i drink protien shake will i still loose weight?

Im guessing that it would be ok to have a protien shake, but wondering if i will still be loosing weight instead of bulking up? As I know alot of people use protien shakes to bulk up.

Also thinking there may be some sugar and other things in protien shakes.

I would love to hear recommandations for a good protien shake that will not make me bulk up or have any carbs and prefer chocolate one if possible. Also hopefully not too expensive... Not asking too much Grin

Also would it be ok to have a protien shake everyday, instead of breakfast if i'm in a rush? Smile

I used to drink a chocolate whey protein shake for breakfast and still lost weight, I also found my muscles started looking more toned but tbf I was exercising too.

Just beware though that you can't really make them up with normal cows milk as the carb content in milk is suprisingly high. If you make it up with water it tastes disgusting!!

I used to do this:

Protein powder, half glass of soya milk, half glass of double cream, a teaspoon of sweetener and blend it all together. This way it tastes almost nice Wink You can also top it with whipped cream which is low in carbs.

I sometimes used to do this when I had a sweet tooth instead of eating/drinking something carby. (chocolate fix Grin )

For some reason they recommend you don't use protein shake after 6pm. Not sure why.

i am going to try atkins shakes they are on offer at boots online- i ll have a low car breakfast, shake and low carb high protein evening meal- am hoping it works as i have cut out most carbs now and not losing much. i am going to give it a try- i weigh my self lots obsessed with it so if it starts to go up i ll stop.

ive gradually done it since january- first cut out bread, then most pasta, and most carb veg- but i have only lost ten pounds. am going to give the shakes a try and see if they kick start me-then if no luck i am going to the doctors. i am 4 stone over weight and think it mainly due to my anti depressant. depressing isnt it!i looked at atkins on boots website and it looks good- they now say you can have i think 12 g carbs a day and green veg (i think) need to look at it a bit closer!
