Why won't this fucking weight come off????

I have been doing Weightwatchers for over a month, I have been very careful, cheated once or twice but always got straight back onto it the next day.

I exercise rigorously 5 times a week, I walk as much as I can and STILL this fucking weight won't shift. I need to lose about 10lbs and I haven't lost a single ounce. I'm on the verge of just giving up, I mean what exactly is the point??

My clothes don't fit any better, if anything I now can't get into some trousers! What the hell is going on???

Can anyone give me inspiration? I've now tried to cut bread, pasta, potatoes and rice out of my diet as that's all I can think off. I'm so depressed that I'm just not getting anywhere. Sad

I know - it's a bit tragic. If I carry on like this I'm going to have to invent some mythical thyroid problem to cover the fact that I have the willpower of gnat. :o

Boozilla · 23/03/2011 14:47

I have cut down on the boozing as well, I think that's possibly why I'm feeling so hard done by discouraged! Grin

It just seems a bit weird to me, I mean let's just say that I'm not eating enough points and I'm exercising a lot. Where is my body getting the energy from to keep me going??

I could understand it if I wasn't eating enough and was lethargic and knackered but surely the exercise I'm doing keeps my metabolism going? So where is the energy coming from? Cause it certainly isn't coming off my arse! Grin

I haven't got much documentation about the old WW, I used to do it all online which has now changed to pro points.

Thank you all for the words of wisdom and support. I'm going to stick at it a while longer before I give up and disappear into the fridge for a week.

The threat of lemon detox looms closer....

Boozilla yes I have it on my blackberry and its great. Works out how much weight you should loose. Does seem to be quite accurate.

zippy I have an underactive thyroid (am on medication) and TBH for me the weight gain was the least of my problems (probably only around a stone at the point I was diagnosed) the extreme exhaustion was much more of a problem.

zippy539 · 25/03/2011 19:30

Sorry forever - wasn't meaning to be insensitive about thyroid problems I know they can be a nightmare.

weigheyhey · 25/03/2011 20:07

Boozilla, sorry to hear of your frustrations, it can be so annoying and it sounds like your are doing the right thing.

slimming world is ace, but may appear complicated at the start if youre used to WW. There are 3 plans to follow and you can choose which suits you best or chop and change them around roughly this is how it works:

Original (known as red days) where almost all lean meat and fish, fruit and veg are free foods but carbs (pasta, rice, spuds) are limited to 2 small portions a day and you can choose your dairy and cereal/bread as whats called a "healthy extra"

Green days almost all carbs, pasta, spuds, rice, noodles etc are free along with your fruit and veg but lean meat or fish are limited to 2 portions a day and you choose your healthy extras again

Extra easy days. (i have been doing extra easy for a week and i have lost 5lb and i have had 2 big nights out.)
All lean meat, fish and carbs are free but you are limited to one portion of milk or cheese and cereal/bread a day.

on top of each of these days you get between 5-15 syns which are your treats and booze.

as long as you decide on the day what sort of day youre having and stick to it throughout the day, you should see success.

The best way to have a sneaky peek at it without joining a group is to buy a copy of the magazine and follow the 7 day eating plan they have on there.

Boozilla I started a thread about a week ago asking why I hadn't lost any weight and some posters linked me to a site which calculates how many calories a person needs to maintain their current weight. It might be useful for you to add up the calorie content of what you have been eating, to see if it comes in at less that that.

I don't know how to do links Blush, but I think the thread would come up in a search.

Zippy am not offended at all, my condition really doesn't affect my life at all, was just pointing out that when I was diagnosed the weight wasn't really a problem, more that I couldn't stay awake!

dontdillydally · 26/03/2011 21:41

me too!

1st week lost 4llbs, 2nd week after sticking to it, hardly using my extra points AND walking everywhere, feeling veyr smug went for weight in and stayed the same I was gobsmacked!!!

Chandon · 27/03/2011 10:18

maybe you are already a good weight for your height, 10lb isn't much.

Are you 10 lb overweight? (ie are you 10 lb over aBMI of 25) or is it just you setting yourself an unrealistic goal?(ie your BMI is 22 and you'd like to just be more "model-like")

ChippingInMistressSteamMop · 27/03/2011 10:30

Lots of good suggestion for you on here. Sadly I don't have any others... but I just wanted to say... please don't let 10lb spoil your holiday!!
