Ive done low carb before but never low GI.

Which one do you think will work quicker?

Do you think you could do low carb to loose weight then move onto low gi after??

Low carb quicker I think (particularly if you do something hard core like Dukan attack.) Low GI more sustainable though- your idea could work.

There is a website if you google. You can probably get the book got peanuts from Amazon.

I did low carb and moved on to low gi. Low carb is great for a quick loss, I shifted 6lbs in a week and then I stalled for ages.

Low gi is more steady weight loss, and far, far easier day to day. I love it!

thanks for the replies...

so how does low gi work? is it just wholemeal bread/pasta instead of white?

do you have to limit the amount of food or fat you eat?

Low Gi is limited amount of complex carbs i.e 1/2 new pots rather than heap of mashed. One slice of wholemeal bread rather than sandwich....v small portion of wholemeal pasta. V limited amount of high fat foods (they may be banned completely at first - can't quite remember.) No sweets apart from tiny amount of dark choc.

This is the book I have. I first used it 7/8 years ago and have incorporated most of the ideas into my everyday living - wouldn't say I am on 'a diet' IFYSWIM...I still splurge occasionally, but am a healthy weight, a size 10 and mostly never feel deprived.

Depends, low GI will only work for weight loss if it is calorie controlled too - ie bowl of wholemeal pasta, bolognaise sauce and cheese is low GI but will not result in weight loss.

There is a dukan support thread, if you want support/advice on dukan.

Ditto what curlywurly said. I lost the first 9lb or so on Dukan but it was HARD! Moved to GI & I've now lost a total of 2 stone & am at my target weight. The GI part took 2 - 3 months but was pretty easy to follow. Steady loss of just 1 - 2 lb per week. Def. a GI convert here :)
