3 stone a dress size?

I lost a stone last year and I've lost another 2 stone since Jan this year.

I've gone from being a size 16/18 to being...well, a size 16/18! This is irritating. I'm in all the same clothes despite being 3 stone lighter! I was this weight 2 years ago (actually 4 lbs heavier to be exact.) before getting pregnant with DS2 and I was a size 14. My body is a flabby mess and I feel there's little point in losing the last stone I need to to get to my target.

I'm really annoyed! Does anyone else take 3 stone per dress size?

Are you doing exercises to tone up as well? As we get older we are less 'compact' and you can weigh less than younger girls in the same size clothes... and they look better at the heavier weight too... Confused

I do alot of walking (I have 2 dogs) and I also ride too about 6 to 8 times a week.

After DS1 I went to the gym but they stopped the creche. After DD1 I started at curves but could only go twice a week and was there for just a few months before getting pg again!

I have actually got the Shred DVD. I did it last year for about a month, lost nothing and gave up. I'm not massively ancient I'm 32! Why is my body being so difficult?

I lost 3 stone, went from a 16 to a 10/12. I am 36, and 5 foot 4 inches.

Doing lots of exercise though so quite toned.

I was 12 stone 5 (BMI 30, body fat 40%)
Now I am 9 stone 5 (BMI 22.5, body fat 25%)

Perhaps you weren't really a 16/18 before - because before I lost the weight I could wear 12 clothes if elasticated and stretchy, so kidding myself that I was a large 12. I wasn't.

Also where have you lost the weight from? I loose from stomach first (which has less of an impact on clothes) and then on hips/thighs (much bigger impact), I would say that the last stone has the biggest impact. Because of that I have decided to loose another 5lbs so all size 10 clothes fit.

But don't be so disheartened, loosing 3 stone is a massive amount. I looked like a flabby mess so when I had a stone to go.

I'm honestly wearing the exact same clothes! I guess my boobs are a cup size smaller because my bra gapes a bit now. Otherwise I think I must have just lost it from My head and hands only!!!

It's most odd. I was so pleased with myslef when I did this before and now I feel absolutely nothing. I feel the same disappointment when I look in the mirror now as I did when I looked in the morror 3 stone ago! Muffin muffin muffin top. BLEUGH.

turkeyburgerthing I did monthly measurements of the following:

bust, waist, hips, thigh, calf, upper arm - so could see minor movements in each. I suggest you start tracking these things, monthly enough.

I also have scales that measure body fat, again they aren't that expensive (£30 or so) so probably worth the investment.

Keep on going.... what is your BMI now?

TurkeyBurgerThing · 21/03/2011 19:06

BMI is 26.5.

I might just get some of the body fat scales. I've not had a reading since I was last using the gym about 2 years ago.

I liked the scales as I can see the body fat going down, sometimes even when the weight doesn't move. I multiply my weight x body fat % so can see how many pounds of fat I have LOL, very satisfying to see it move.

Just extra motivation if the weight doesn't move ALTHOUGH body fat does vary over course of the day, its lower in the evening (due to hydration levels) so have to test at same time of day (I record my waking weight and body fat).

Also do the tape measurements, just log them in notebook. Again satisfying to see them move. 3 stone is a huge amount of weight my almost 5 year old weighs less than that 2.5) and he's heavy to lift. My 7 year old weighs 3.5 stone and I can hardly lift her.
