I am seriously fed up. I put 3lbs on over Xmas and also had a week's holiday where I put 4lbs on. So I have lost the majority of that, but I'd expect to anyway once I go back to normal eating.

I'm being so good. Last week all I ate was weetabix for breakfast, either ham salad or tomato soup for lunch, vegi stirfry or ham salad for dinner. I have a hifi bar for a snack (6syns), lots of fruit and carrot sticks. I have a Nescafe cappacinno most days which I know is about 6syns.

I have balsamic vinegar on my salad which is free. I suppose there are a few syns in the stirfry sauce which I'm not counting.

I walk the dog for an hour most days but have had to stop doing aerobics at the minute due to whiplash.

One of my mates who's a nurse reckons that as I'm being investigated for very heavy periods at the minute that my hormones got be stuffed up and thats why I'm not losing weight. Could she be right or am I kidding myself?

And I have done SW in the past and lost a stone, I'm sticking to it more this time and still not losing. Weighed myself this morning and don't think I've lost all week. Proper weigh in tomorrow.

I think it depends how much you weigh. If you are very overweigh you should loose on that so might be a hormonal issue, however if you are just a few pounds over then you are eating a high carb breakfast and lots of fruit, so not surprising you aren't loosing. I wouldn't loose weight on that..

Heavy periods though can be underactive thyroid so make sure you get a thyroid test.

My BMI is 30, so edging into the obese catagory.

I know weetabix is carbs but it is very low calorie. I don't have sugar and minimal milk with it.

I've tried cutting out carbs before (Atkins) and it didn't work at all. I do wonder if I'm eating too much fruit, I ate a whole punnet of grapes yesterday.

I agree weetabix is ok for breakfast. Try limiting to 2 pieces of fruit a day where one piece = 1 apple or 2 plums or 100g grapes or small banana etc. Snack on vegetables?

My BMI was 30 when I started my diet. I stuck to 1300 calories initially (lowered to 1200 at 11 stone) - and lost 2lbs a week consistently.

Roughly how many calories are you eating a day?

VivaLeBeaver · 21/03/2011 10:49

I don't know I'm not calorie counting 'cos SW woman keeps saying its not a calorie counting diet.

Yesterday I ate - 2 weetabix with minimal milk

I had a 600 calorie flatbread and salad meal in Prezzo. I don't think I had all the 600 calories either as I didn't put the dressing on my salad. I know thats not very good but its the first time I've been out for a meal in months.

I had a cereal bar. 100 calories

Dinenr was going to be chicken and salad but I had no salad i nthe fridge so had chicken breast and a punnet of grapes instead.

Just looked grapes up and about 300cals for the punnet. So I reckon 500cal max for that meal.

So 1300 for the day?

hello!
I'm doing slimming workd too. my consultant says sometimes you don't lose weight because you're not eating enough! and sometimes you don't lose weight if you always eat the same things...

you could try fruit and fat free yoghurt for breakfast, and then have two alpen light bars as snacks instead of the hifi bar/weetabix for breakfast - the alpen lights count as a healthy extra b.

i would also double check the tomato soup and ham are both counted as free food - in my experience only some of these things are 'ok' - the SW food directory is great, as it says what's free, and what has syns for all branded food.

i have lost 1.5 stones since jan, have another 2.5 to lose, and generally lose 1.5lb a week - sometimes more if i'm lucky. some examples of what i eat in a day:
breakfast - fruit and fat free yog - today was a banana, a plum & a pear
lunch - baked potato with baked beans or fat free cottage cheese & salad; or batchelors pasta & sauce & salad; or savoury rice and salad with some grated low fat cheese
dinner - chicken curry, rice & salad; vegi stir fry & rice; roast turkey breast, roast potatoes (with fry light) and loads of steamed veg; homemade spaghetti bolognese and steamed veg
snacks - 2 alpen light bars, muller light yoghurts (put them in the freezer for a while so they go a bit like ice cream)
syns - some dark chocolate & sponge finger biscuits (1 syn each)
drinks - black coffee, water, diet coke

I eat alot of veg with meals - half of my plate, and I cook most things from scratch so I know its free. but I also go out and eat once a week probably, just make sure it's salad and a jacket potato or pasta and a tomato sauce...

I hope this helps, and that you can get back to where you want to be x

I guess its different for different people... rule out thyroid probs, rule out TOTM (need to look at weigh loss over whole month), and then look at what you are eating.

Lollybrolly · 21/03/2011 22:02

What plan are you following? Red? Green? or Extra Easy?

I know that with EE its very very easy to come unstuck. Don't forget that on EE at least 1/3 of your plate MUST be SUPERFREE and not just Free.

I have had fab weightlosses on EE but after a while on it I do get a bit complacent with the amount of superfree, and thats when I notice a slow down in weightloss. I also know a few peeps in class have been have 1/3 of veg/fruit/salad but its turned out to be stuff like peas or bananas - so not Superfree.

could this be it?

Also was it PMT week last week? I can put on 2lbs some months the week before my period. Its fluid retention. The following week I usually have a fab weightloss.

Alos, try writing absolutely everything that passes your lips down. Look up syn values - dont assume. As a general rule if I cannot find my exact product syn value - I take the nearest similar item and add at least 1 1/2 the syn value on - better to over estimate your syn intake than under estimate it imo.

VivaLeBeaver · 21/03/2011 22:11

Ah - I didn't know about 1/3 of the plate needingto be superfree. I am doing EE, last time I did Green. Think I'm going to have to go back to green. That could well be it.
