2011 Paul McKenna P3 - the march towards skinny jeans continues

Well the old thread was getting mordibly obese wasn't it? Grin

Welcome new people and people who've been here for a while, this is the definitive Paul McKenna support thread.

Whether you are dribbling over his Paulness or wibbling over pudding, we're here to listen, slightly mock you and tell you to step away from the scales.

The Paul Mckenna plan is not a diet but a way of teaching yourself to eat slowly and consciously and achieve the body you've always dreamed of.

There will be no diet foods on this thread, no starvation and no beating ourselves up because ^lifes' too bloody short to weigh a carrot and we'd far rather be doing something incredible instead!

That's really fantastic, BsshBossh. How are you feeling?

BsshBossh · 23/04/2011 07:52

I feel great because I'm able to wear alot of my old summer clothes again but still feel I have a long way to go to get to goal so I need to keep going! It does feel great not being conscious about having to cover my bum Smile.

whomovedmychocolate · 23/04/2011 08:08

Hurrah BsshBossh! That's brilliant.

I have woken up with very swollen eyes (hayfever) and am mainly scoffing Piriton today!

I think I know why it's not working for me (well one of the several reasons). I'm not eating what I want because I'm basically so bloody broke that I can't have what I want :( and I don't see that changing anytime soon; certainly not in the next several years. What can I do?!

SolosEggSpoonentiallyShrinking · 23/04/2011 11:36

Well done Bssh btw, that's brilliant, you'll be leaving to join the skinnies soon with WMMC Wink

whomovedmychocolate · 23/04/2011 12:16

Who are you calling skinny Solo Hmm Grin

Ah but my dear, the best foods are cheaper. You can make amazing lamb koftas for very little money and yes you have to make an effort but start from more basic food and learn to love creating lovely food you make from scratch.

What is it you really want and can't have my dear? :)

Is a real fatty allowed to join you? Grin

I have been looking into this Paul McKenna and reading through all your successes and I think I might give it a go. I posted on the thread about constant eating and was pointed in your direction. I have been trying to eat better this last week, and feel so much better already, but I think the rules of Paul make sense and I would like to give it a go.

Do I need to buy the book/DVD etc, or is it not really worth it? I have skimmed through this thread, but its rather long, so I will now go back and read some more, just wanted to pop my head in and say hi......hope that's ok. Smile

chipstick10 · 23/04/2011 13:49

Do you guys eat whatever you want or do you try and eat diet food iykwim? Have been lurking and am interested.

shrinkingnora · 23/04/2011 14:07

I find I eat so much less that it is cheaper by far. If I do slimming world I eat loads of cheap crap but don't enjoy it so much. When this is going well I probably eat a 1/4 of what I used to.

shrinkingnora · 23/04/2011 14:16

Hi Positiveattitude and chipstick. The book and CD is only about £6 on amazon and I would recommend it. And yes, we eat whatever we want - no diet food here. I eat toast and peanut butter..... and steak and chips.... and chocolate... and cake and biscuits.... and anything I fancy!

franke · 23/04/2011 14:33

You can get the 2007 edition of the book on Amazon marketplace for 1p + postage - used but usually usable. I think it's important to have the book. I'm not a great fan of PM but I was pleasantly surprised by how kind he was in the book and I think that's why I've stuck with it. I'm still astonished at how much less I'm eating now.

shrinkingnora · 23/04/2011 15:19

Definitely worth 1p! Kind is an excellent description of it.

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 23/04/2011 16:05

Welcome to the new people! Id definitely get the book & CD - I couldnt have done it without them! They are si cheap to buy, and worth every single penny.

I dont ever eat "diet" food, as I never crave "diet" food. I do crave food that is god for my body though, such as veg, meat etc. I also still crave the not-so-good-for-my-body food such as KFC :) I often have crumble 7 custrad for dinner, as I cant have both a main meal & pudding (too full!) so I skip the main meal Grin

PositiveAttitude · 23/04/2011 16:32

Thank you for the welcome. Smile

Book and DVD ordered as well as the journal too. Grin

Is there anyone else on here that is really big? Or are you all just trying to stay a size 12ish? I don't mean to be nosy, just wondered if I was alone? I need to lose a LOT of weight, but I am hoping that this will be a life change rather than a diet that I would probably fail at.

Quick introduction - ignore if its not the done thing- I have 5 DC and joined mumsnet in 2008 when DD3 was very ill and was needing 24 hour nursing care for a year. I was told about a thread on here with mums going through the same and it was a life-saver!! DD is now recovering slowly, with still a long road ahead of her. DCs ages range from 13 to 19. One boy, four girls. Masses of hormones in the house, which sometimes get me questioning my sanity!! Hmm Sometimes I feel really sorry for DH and DS. Wink
Well, that's me! Smile

chipstick10 · 23/04/2011 16:53

I need to loose a stone.

BsshBossh · 23/04/2011 17:24

Hello new people! Yes, I definitely eat what I want, including (most days) chocolate or (sometimes "and") ice cream but I've found just a little satisfies me - so, for example, a square or two of really good quality chocolate or a mini muffin rather than a fullsize one or a small scoop of good quality ice cream. No diet foods - they taste awful when eaten slowly, so no Mueller Lites and no low- or non-fat puds and I always eat full-fat crisps Grin but only a handful as that's all I need.

Solo, we tend to always cook from scratch but have found that freshly cooked meals now last three nights and/or lunches so our food bills have gone down. Packets of crisps and bars of chocolate now last a week or more. So = lower food costs. I hardly ever snack now so that's a big cost cut and also since I have loads of leftovers lunch costs have gone down.

BsshBossh · 23/04/2011 17:28

PositiveAttitude - I started as size 18 (8 weeks ago), am now a size 16. I looked really really good (and felt terrific) as a size 14 so that's my goal but size 12 is my ultimate aim in terms of health and being classified as "normal weight" for my height. So yes, I had/have "alot" of weight to lose (and I'm losing it)!

shrinkingnora · 23/04/2011 17:28

I haven't been a size 12 since I was about ten! I am currently 12 stone 8 lb and feeling a bit unfit (about a 16-18). I think I want to lose about 2 more stone but would be happy with less if I was fit and toned. I was a size 14 when I was a teenager and I've always been busty curvy. I think I weighed about 10 stone 7 lb then. I felt better at 12 stone 5 lb fit and toned than I ever have before. I am trying not to think too much about goals, but more about repairing my relationship with food. I have good days and bad days but it's all better than on a conventional diet.

shrinkingnora · 23/04/2011 17:31

And actually I looked better at 12 stone 5 lb and fit than I did at 11 stone 9 lb and unfit. Just looked at a photo and it is quite surprising. And I always look better when I am happy, so this suits me on many levels.

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 23/04/2011 17:32

PA - I have just started this and I need to lose 4 stone I am 25lbs lighter than I was this time last year though, despite the fact that I had DS2 4 weeks ago, so it seems like the right time to make some more progress downwards from where I am. What I do NOT want to happen is that a pile those 25lbs back on in a postnatal haze of biscuit eating which is what happened after I had DS1.
It's why I'm giving this a go - I wouldn't go on a traditional diet at this point, I am BFing and therefore starving so I need to be able to eat, but I need to learn to listen to my body.

I listened to the CD for the first time last night - and fell asleep! I know he says in the book not to worry if that happens, but I am quite interested to know what he actually says so I am going to try and stay awake for today's listen Grin
I have tried to stick to the rules, very hard to focus on each mouthful while juggling a yelling baby, but I shall persevere!

CheerfulYank · 23/04/2011 17:35

I agree, Nora . When I was 10 stone I always wanted to be lighter. But whenever I did get lighter, I looked a bit drawn. 10 stone was a fantastic weight for me, I looked so strong and healthy.

CheerfulYank · 23/04/2011 17:36

Ali I fall asleep while listening sometimes too :)

shrinkingnora · 23/04/2011 17:43

Strong and healthier is pretty sexy too

I fall asleep while listening too. But I generally prefer to listen in the morning so I can really enjoy the bright delightful alertness Grin

After I had DS1, I used to listen to it to get back to sleep after the night feeds - I am convinced that is why it went so well then, I must have been listening about 6 times a night....

CheerfulYank · 23/04/2011 17:49

:)

I would like to listen in the morning but I just can't make the time. :( I have to be out of the house by 7:45 every morning and so far I haven't been able to wake up early enough to listen and get all my stuff done.

PositiveAttitude · 23/04/2011 18:41

Thanks again, I would like to lose at least 4 stone, too, Ali. I know where I feel comfortable. I know this sounds stupid, but I have been inadvertently doing the "rules" of PM for a week and i already feel so much more confident, just because I am doing something, I suppose.
CAn't wait for my books and DVD/CD to arrive, sounds intriguing.

How quickly are you losing it? I am going on holiday at the end of July and I am just wondering how far I may have got by then, realistically? I see you have lost 22lb in 8 weeks, BsshBossh, well done. That's really encouraging.
