2011 Paul McKenna P3 - the march towards skinny jeans continues

Well the old thread was getting mordibly obese wasn't it? Grin

Welcome new people and people who've been here for a while, this is the definitive Paul McKenna support thread.

Whether you are dribbling over his Paulness or wibbling over pudding, we're here to listen, slightly mock you and tell you to step away from the scales.

The Paul Mckenna plan is not a diet but a way of teaching yourself to eat slowly and consciously and achieve the body you've always dreamed of.

There will be no diet foods on this thread, no starvation and no beating ourselves up because ^lifes' too bloody short to weigh a carrot and we'd far rather be doing something incredible instead!

Rookiemater - I have found since doing the program 1st time around that I simply cannot manage 3 courses. I usually find I can really enjoy a starter (full plate) then enjoy about 1/2 -2/3 of my main course. I don't feel remotely as if I am missing out on pudding as I enjoy my meal so much more not being stuffed.

JuicyOlive · 06/04/2011 18:08

I've also realised that I used to be irrationally scared of getting hungry. So I'd eat loads at a meal to "stock up" until the next one just in case I ever suffered so much as a small hunger pang. This no longer seems logical. (It was most pronounced if I was staying in a hotel - I would make sure I ate loads in case I woke up in the night and was hungry as there would be no access to food - wtf?!).

I'm also experimenting with the full signals. I often find I don't really feel full until an hour or so after a meal when the food's had time to settle. Do I'm experimenting with eating different amounts and seeing how I feel an hour later.

rookiemater · 06/04/2011 18:16

I have never really been able to eat three courses. If I do I tend to be sick during the night, same if I have more than two glasses of wine. Strange then how for years I have still gallantly ploughed my way through more three course meals than I care to mention, particularly if it is a set menu and I have paid for it already.

emmie31 · 06/04/2011 19:20

Hey Juicy I used to have the hotel food panic too, Grin never actually thought about how daft it is!

Well done PP does it feel lush being a skinny jimmy? Smile

shrinkingnora · 06/04/2011 20:04

Hmm, I have had my first wobble about my weight for a long time today. Trying to find a dress to wear to my brother's wedding in 7 weeks and I think I started back down an old, familiar path.

This one here:

I have looked horrible at all major events ever in my life, including my own wedding *

I have 7 weeks to lose some weight or I will ruin their wedding photos and I will feel sad every time I look at them

If I lose a pound a week that would be good, or two pounds would be better. Or really I should lose 3 lbs a week. That will work.

I'd better give myself the rest of the day off, as 3lb a week is gonna be tough

I'll just have another krispy kreme to tidy them up (friend brought a box of twelve when she visted earlier)

I'm not actually hungry but I'd better eat supper as well because it has some veg in and I should be eating nutritious food while I recover

*except my sister's wedding when I was pauling funnily enough....

I am not fucking well doing this any more. No. No.

Help me.

JuicyOlive · 06/04/2011 20:07

nora - don't panic we're here. (quick holding message while I type some more)

shrinkingnora · 06/04/2011 20:09

I haven't cried, which is a major improvement...

JuicyOlive · 06/04/2011 20:12

OK -
firstly you are not going to ruin any wedding photos because you are a lovely looking lady who just happens to need a little confidence boost. Anyway, you felt good at your sister's wedding while you were pauling, and you're pauling now so why can't that be the same.

Secondly, you are doing so brilliantly at this (much better than me) I thought you had really "got" it. So don't chuck away over a little wibble.

Thirdly, the mentality you are describing is the typical dieting attitude which we know hasn't worked for any us in the past. How the hell is tidying up the krispy kreme going to help you feel better about yourself?

I appreciate you're recovering from a fairly major op, but hey go easy on yourself and a bit less of the "I'm going to ruin the photos" please.

JuicyOlive · 06/04/2011 20:12

nora - I'm sitting by the phone which is the advertised number on my website if you want to call me and have a chat.

jaggythistle · 06/04/2011 20:13

Hello, I'd like to join you too.

I had sucess with just the book and CD before getting pregnant, after DS was born I jammily ended up about a stone lighter than before pregnancy. I guess a combination of bfing and forgetting to eat so much while busy with a small person!

However...I have not weighed myself recently but my trousers are getting a bit tight and I can tell the weight is sneaking back on :(

I have re-read the book and made an effort to slow my eating down a bit, struggling though as a lot of time end up shoving food down while trying to keep an 18mo entertained if we've timed it badly. Grin

I have also not found much time to listen to the CD - do you ladies find it makes a lot of difference doing it regularly?

thanks.

JuicyOlive · 06/04/2011 20:15

hello jaggy, welcome to the thread.

JuicyOlive · 06/04/2011 20:16

personally I find it helps to listen to the CD as it puts me in the right mindset, but we all seem to Paul in different ways.

jaggythistle · 06/04/2011 20:19

I seem to be only remembering to slow down occasionally, thought listening more often might help :)

Thanks for teh welcome.

JuicyOlive · 06/04/2011 20:21

nora - are you ok?

I also had the photo thing with a big family event a few weeks ago. I have to say I was reeling when I saw myself and wmmc had to give me a stiff kick up the arse and I'm back on track. And by the time we have the next family event, I will be looking hot!

shrinkingnora · 06/04/2011 20:25

OK, I have a plan.

  1. Reread the book (because if I can't find the time while I am confined to bed, when can I?)
  2. Listen to Paul before sleeping
  3. Give myself a break as I am a bit fooked after the general anaesthetic still
  4. Drink more water right now
  5. Look at photos from sister's wedding and remember how good it felt
  6. Welcome jaggy to the thread
jaggythistle · 06/04/2011 20:33

thanks Grin

I am drinking a can of fizzy diet beverage that someone kindly gave to me - the water dispensing machine here at work is also dispensing brown floaters

shrinkingnora · 06/04/2011 20:33

Olive I have emailed you something Grin

shrinkingnora · 06/04/2011 20:35

jaggy, that has successfully put me off eating anything else today Grin

shrinkingnora · 06/04/2011 20:37

Ok, scrap re-reading the book, I think my boss has it. I will restart my journal tomorrow.

jaggythistle · 06/04/2011 20:40

Glad to be of service!

jaggythistle · 06/04/2011 20:41

I didn't get very far with the journal - maybe need to get teh tipp-ex out and start again :)

LizinFrance · 06/04/2011 20:50

Hi,this thread has moved fast.
Welcome jaggythistle Smile.

Finding it still hard at moment as being stressed with friends and family.Managed to not stuff my face with chocolate today though so that`s an improvement.Did have a slip up yesterday where I had a ripple but not much of the galxy bar I bought.Need to stop my emotional eating!!
Have listened to cd 3times so far it just seems to make me sleepy rather than energised. So far no difference after listening to it, although yesterday while I was listening kept thinking of what exercise I could do in the next few days.

I do notice when I drink more I definitely eat less and get fuller quicker.
So I have to remind myself to drink, drink, drink!!!!
Dp has said I definitely lost weight and look different, don`t feel different but nice to hear.
Hurrah for all those good weight loses Grin.
xxxx

Tommy · 06/04/2011 21:25

much as I don't really like listening to the CD, I do find it helps. The day after I listen (usually listen at bed time) I always notice I am much better at not nibbling throughout the day.

solo · 06/04/2011 23:22

Just marking again. How does this thread grow so fast?!
I've been walking this week as m y car is broken atm and ^guess what?* I've gained 3lbs!!! not eating any more, though I'm not Pauling right now...
I do have a wedding to go to at the beginning of July, so it'd be lovely to get into the zone and lose a bit. Shake me by the shoulders everyone someone please.
