2011 Paul McKenna P3 - the march towards skinny jeans continues

Well the old thread was getting mordibly obese wasn't it? Grin

Welcome new people and people who've been here for a while, this is the definitive Paul McKenna support thread.

Whether you are dribbling over his Paulness or wibbling over pudding, we're here to listen, slightly mock you and tell you to step away from the scales.

The Paul Mckenna plan is not a diet but a way of teaching yourself to eat slowly and consciously and achieve the body you've always dreamed of.

There will be no diet foods on this thread, no starvation and no beating ourselves up because ^lifes' too bloody short to weigh a carrot and we'd far rather be doing something incredible instead!

JuicyOlive you are the new WMMC Grin. Welcome TheChewyToffeeMum. I ditto everything Juicy just said in her last post. GO OPTION 2, girl! You know you want to fit into some lovely clothes this Summer. And we're all here to support you. So start now.

GGGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...

Chewytoffeemum - you commit to being the size you want to be. At the minute you are committing to being larger by saying 'I can't do it because....'

  • What would happen if the food you really wanted had been eaten?
  • Would you not be able to buy more next week to make sure you had some next time?
  • What is being overweight doing for you that you will miss? Is it worth it?

On the positive side you are exercising so if you do get with the programme it should work quickly. :)

How about you just try to do it for a week? Can you afford to spare the time to do that? Isn't it worth investing a bit of time in you for a change? Your kids will appreciate having a healthy mum who is around for a few extra years more than missing you for twenty minutes while you listen to a CD?

Also isn't it worth teaching them how to eat properly so THEY don't go through this the way you are?

My dear, being worried is normal, you are thinking about taking control of your life and being responsible for your size and that's bloody scary. But you also know you will feel better and have a nicer life if you do this. Yes it takes effort but you are worth taking that effort.

Am very impressed with JuicyOlive's bollocking though, she has style and good hair that one Wink

Shit! I scared her off. Come back ChewyToffeeMum - we're nice and supportive really.

whomovedmychocolate · 05/04/2011 06:44

Nah don't worry JuicyOlive - it's a lot to take in that's all, it takes time to digest. :)

Perhaps she's actually gone off to listen to the CDs?

Anyway, morning all. Well I've just weighed myself and I have four pounds to go to get to my first goal (which is 9st 9lb) and then obviously another ten pounds to get to my ultimate goal - I don't know whether my ultimate goal is too low though so I'm having a think at the minute. I'll see how I feel when I get to 9,9. :)

So 11st 4lb to 9.13 in umm however long it is - six weeks? Eight weeks maybe? Confused Well here I am, thinner and happier. It has, I have to say, been bewilderingly easy and I wish I'd done it years ago. People who are about to start you have nothing to lose but your saddlebags and your thighs that rub together annoyingly at the start of winter Wink and yes, life is easier when you are thin and attractive. Feminist ideals aside, just having the energy is easier than not.

I'm cheering you all on, every last one of you. :)

Morning all sorry that I am rubbish at posting but I am more of a lurker and havent got much to say lol

I am on day 15 so had my 1st weigh in this morning and have lost 6 1/4lbs so far, Im happy with this considering I havent cut back on any yummy food but everyone knows how much we want the weight to disappear over night lol

The best part of it is that I have felt no need to binge in the 2 weeks I have been doing this and for the first time in years the cupboards are full of cakes, biscuits and crisps which I feel no desire to demolish in one sitting Grin
I can be the person who only eats 2 biscuits instead of the whole packet these days Smile

I have also noticed that I automatically chew slower and even if I feel a bit rushed at mealtime once the food is in my mouth I physically cant seem to chew it fast lol

The bad side is that DH is probably gonna gain all the weight I lose as he is finishing of any dinner I leave on top of his lol I am trying to combat this by giving him slightly smaller portions Wink

franke · 05/04/2011 08:05

Gosh, well done wmmc. I agree with everything you say - yes life is easier when you're slimmer, even just a little bit slimmer like me. I've had lots of revelations in the last 3 or 4 weeks (can't remember how long I've been doing this). One of the most striking is how I've stopped obsessing about food and how quickly that pattern was broken (in the first week). It's just so liberating, and frees up loads of head space.

franke · 05/04/2011 08:07

and well done 3ismylot - 6lb is a great result Smile

TheChewyToffeeMum · 05/04/2011 08:25

It's ok you lot didn't scare me off! I went off for a long bath last night (fell asleep - oops) after a draining day with a grumpy toddler.

I have taken on board what you have said - it all makes sense. I know this (Paul's) way of eating makes me feel happier and I really do want to get back to feeling how I did last summer.

I have not yet listened to the CD but I have just had a potato scone with butter and jam and hot chocolate with cream for breakfast. On the face of it that breakfast sounds terrible but I really enjoyed it. Previously I would have had weetabix/muesli first, then some juice, maybe a coffee, just one scone, might as well eat the rest of the scones, I feel crap now I think I will just squirty the cream straight onto a spoon......Blush

BsshBossh · 05/04/2011 08:48

TheChewyToffeeMum - that sounds like a yummy breakfast. Now just keep in tune with your hunger and remember to try and eat your next meal or snack only when your tummy physically rumbles and not when your head says that something looks yummy.

For breakfast I had a slice of homebaked seeded loaf, toasted, with a slice of ham and a smear of butter and cream cheese, also a small slice of smoked cheese, half a banana and a handfull of grapes. I find this usually fills me up until at least 2pm!

3ismylot and WMMC - great losses there Smile. WMMC, it's true that slim (or in my case slimmer as not quite there yet) feels great. So much energy - both physical and mental. I'm accomplishing much more in a day than I've been able to in a while. Franke I agree that it also frees up a lot of head space - I do think about food a lot still as I am a foodie who loves to cook and go out trying different restaurants (DH too, we read cookbooks in bed together) but I'm no longer thinking about food and immediately going to the kitchen to get a snack. I'm content to wait.

MissVerinder · 05/04/2011 09:05

Ooooh, Howtolookgood that would be excellent. Me and DP drink loads, and I have clocked my personal consumption to about 3l a day Blush. Not only is it disgustingly expensive, it can't be doing my innards/teeth any good.

Sorry about the absenteeism this weekend, been really busy, but still working with Paul- listened to the CD loads, and feeling really good about everything. Apparently I'm very susceptible to suggestion!

Hope you guys are all ok, I'm going to read the rest of the thread now.

MissVerinder · 05/04/2011 09:25

TheChewyToffeeMum
I don't know if this will help you, but as my DD gets me up at night, when I get back into bed, I listen to the CD as I am nodding off again. I try and listen to it consciously during the day, but it doesn't stress me out if I don't, because I know I'll be up in the night and will get to listen to it then (even though the first bit does make me giggle)

I feel like, if I can keep up with the CD, it doesn't give me an excuse to pack it all in. My mind knows that it's such an easy thing to do, and all Paul's asking for is for us to do four things, but it also knows how to push my buttons for a full on binge fest! I'm not listening to that bit right now....

emmie31 · 05/04/2011 11:54

Hello eveyone, you're all doing so well, well done! Was ill most of last week so didn't do too well, (tummy bug) plus the stomach pains were confusing, didn't know if it was extreme hungar or poorly pains... and last night I was ready to cook dinner as I was getting hungry, but as I was drying my sons hair I found a nit, oh my god so flipping disgusting, my very first nit !! so by the time we'd all sat around with nit stuff on our heads and finally got kids to bed I was starving so scoffed my food down (I'm itching just thinking of it)..... on the upside I did manage to play a game of squash before the nit saga ( plus felt really proud that my friend 10 years younger and 2 sizes smaller was dying and I wasn't, finally the exercise I'm doing is paying off!) I dont post very often but i'm reading your posts every day to keep me going...Smile

ppeatfruit · 05/04/2011 12:16

Emmie! Hope you're feeling better now .Everyone with clean hair gets nits sometimes just put neat Ttree behind the ears and back of neck etc. it gets rid properly. Congrats on yr energy levels!

ppeatfruit · 05/04/2011 12:19

This is such a brilliant thread SOO inspiring wouldn't it be funny if everyone on this site was on this thread!!

emmie31 · 05/04/2011 13:34

Looks like it might get to that, I have a nosey at the other threads sometimes and see them converted in approximately 2 posts! Grin

emmie31 · 05/04/2011 13:36

Thanks for the nit advice, might invest in some tee tree... dont wanna see one of those blighters again in a while!

JuicyOlive · 05/04/2011 14:23

and comb through lots of conditioner with a nitty gritty comb (about a tenner from chemists). usually works for us.

JuicyOlive · 05/04/2011 14:26

Listened to that CD yet chewytoffeemum?

I am waiting to get hungry so I can scoff some lovely coffee and walnut cake I bought earlier. It WOULD have definitely been a comfort eat - I had to go for a gynae scan earlier at the local hospital which I found fairly unpleasant (probe up your fanjo anyone?) and stopped to buy cake on the way back. Normally it would have been well and truly scoffed by now, but waiting until I'm hungry when I will have it with a nice cappuccino.

JuicyOlive · 05/04/2011 14:27

On the plus side, I forgot to take a note of which carpark I was in, so I had a good work-out hiking around the hospital trying to get out to the right place.

BsshBossh · 05/04/2011 15:20

"I am waiting to get hungry so I can scoff some lovely coffee and walnut cake" - Juicy I love this quote. Imagine being on a diet and able to eat cake Grin! And the waiting will make it taste even better.

BsshBossh · 05/04/2011 15:21

I started power-walking yesterday in the park. An hour solid. My muscles really ache today so obviously it was a good workout :-) But it didn't make me want to eat more than normal.

rookiemater · 05/04/2011 15:53

I had a bacon and brie panini today for lunch because it was what I really fancied. I ate very slowly and threw away half of it. I'm still full 4 hours later. I know that it isn't recommended dieting food, but I just realised that it is better and probably has the same calories to eat half of something I want and enjoy, rather than a bigger portion of a low cal food if you see what I mean.

Am slightly concerned that the scales may not register weight loss when I get to weigh myself on Friday - wish I could move beyond wanting to weigh myself but guess I'm not at that stage yet.

TheChewyToffeeMum · 05/04/2011 17:25

Not yet JuicyOlive Grin

I have been following the rules today though and feeling fine. I even made a batch of my favourite biscuits and have only eaten 3 (they are small!) and I was hungry at the time.

One of my favourite side -effects of the programme is that I don't feel the need to drink gallons of cola or coffee to stay awake. I just acknowledge I am feeling tired and sit down for a few minutes.

Looking forward to some yummy spaghetti with prawns, spinach, garlic, chilli and lemon.

mummyosaurus · 05/04/2011 17:38

Well done on all the weight losses, I am going to weigh next week.

Rookiemater - I agree.
