First off I am not hugely overweight, high end of healthy BMI that sometimes nudges into the overweight zone.

Like all of us I try to juggle work, family, social life and run and exercise and eat healthily where possible. Since I hit 40 I've found it tough to keep my waistline from expanding.

My Mum came to stay recently and has been on at me about my weight. It's actually make me eat more! She says I've stacked it on (exaggeration) and has come up with a huge list of negatives (things I am apparently doing wrong) to help me and make me improve!

I do my best but she's made me feel lousy. I was actually pretty horrible to her when she left last week as the constant list of negatives really got to me. She says I've been horrible and she felt shut out and I have a terrible off hand attitude? I have gained a few pounds - maybe 3 - since she saw me last. Was she right to say what she did? Sorry probably sounds daft. :)

My mum said when DS2 was 4 months and being EBF....

"You've put on so much weight its affecting your health you really should do something about it."

And then she says to my Dad (retired GP):

"Tell her about how her weight is affecting her health"

(Then she goes on to say wasn't it great he was still EBF, she never had enough milk Hmm.

Luckily my Dad said plenty of time to diet once baby was no longer being EBF.

The mad thing is that she is overweight herself, her BMI was probably the same (or nearly the same) as mine at the time (30). But its was different for her as she's post menopause Shock, she stayed thin in her 30s.

Anyway now I get last laugh, I am thin and she is still fat! GrinGrinGrin
