what about a warm up? or is that why people ache??

Very brief warm-up and cool-down - probably is some of why people ache, though personally I've found that I only really ached after the first few work-outs, and have been fine ever since.

In total I think it's about 25 minutes (plus in my case, about ten minutes beforehand to find sports kit, remove cat from sports kit, don sports kit, roll out exercise mat, retrieve weights from where DD has stashed them ...)

I think it's 3 cycles of 3 mins strength, 2 mins cardio and 1 mins abs with a couple of mins warm up and cool down.
I do a few extra mins of stretching to try and minimise the achey legs.
I have found a brisk 15 min walk same day helps too, have seen a run after Shred recommended on here but I'm not fit enough for that (yet)

So Shred is 20 mins but it takes me more like 45 mins by the time I've got changed, done exercise and showered / changed afterwards.

I found it took about 35mins watching all the way through Level 1 - I could have ffwd'd the chat at the beginning, I guess but my DVD player is a touch temperamental.

I've been doing it since the start of January, I'm halfway through Level 3 cos I don't do it every day (I swim, run and do zumba the other days, usually one day off a week). I've only lost about 8lb in that time, having lost 18lb or so in the previous four months, but then I've slacked off with my diet quite a lot. I'm definitely in better shape, but the only thing I can attribute solely to the Shred (cos nothing else touches it) is my middle - I lost a lot of inches very quickly with dieting, but now there's a really solid core of muscle under there as well. Which is my main reason for being sore, the amount of time I spend poking myself and going 'ooh, muscle!' :o

I think level one is about 25 mins.

Joby1970 · 28/02/2011 12:59

it IS 20 mins plus 5 warm up/cool down. it is the quickest & most effective work out you will ever do.

i think people ache because they are using muscles that haven't been used in years!!
