I neeeed to start a diet tomorrow. I'm beyond disgusting. I have no will power what so ever... HELP!!!

I think food diaries, weight loss, etc would help.

I am lacking will power too! Watching my weight creep up and not doing anything about it.

Need to get motivated and start taking the time to look after myself.

TotallyandUtterly · 27/02/2011 10:44

Snap. How much do you want to loose? I need to get 6 stone off which sounds bloody awful!! I'm hungover to hell today so I'm starting the day eating everything in sight and the diet will have to start tomorrow- it'll be Monday too and Monday is the start of all diets.

Tomorrow I'm going to eat:

An innocent smoothie for breakfast.
A rice cake with humous for a mid morning snack.
A salad for lunch.
A piece of fruit and a soya yogurt for mid afternoon snack.
Chicken, veg and a jacket for tea.

If I plan it I'm more likely to do it!

My initial target is loose 7lbs in 3 weeks. What's yours?

tibni · 27/02/2011 13:38

I'm not good at setting myself targets but between half a stone and a stone to begin with.

My main issue is I have lost my tone and definition. I started a new job (my 3rd part-time job) and I have let everything slip.

Off to the gym this afternoon to try and start a metabolism booster workout. Food been ok today (so far) but Sunday is pizza night and tomorrow I am out with some girl friends! But its all about balance (something I am not good at).

Food shopping tomorrow, with the children back at school, so will pick up some healthy choices.

foreverondiet · 27/02/2011 13:54

TotallyandUtterly an innocent smoothie is not a great breakfast - its high GI and it will set you up to feel hungry all morning & all day. I have been dieting (1200 calories a day) since October (have lost almost 3 stone now just a few pounds from target) and honestly even though I have fantastic willpower, I wouldn't make it through the day on that. Not sure what is in the salad at lunch but if just veggies not enough for lunch either - add some protein eg tuna to it.

I have been doing a food diary, write down everything. I find that my diet goes best with a really filling low GI breakfast, eg porrige oats made with skimmed milk, or shreddies with skimmed milk or wholemeal toast and an egg.

Here is an average day for me:
40g bitesized shredded wheat & skimmed milk
midmorning: activia FF yoghurt
lunch: smoked salmon sandwich on wholemeal bread, made with low fat cream cheese, another yoghurt & apple.
mid afternoon: prunes & few nuts
tea: salad, chicken (120g), 40g uncooked weight basmati rice (ie v small portion) and lots of steamed veggies.
10pm 1 ryvita and 40g cottage cheese.

Good luck!

lubeybooby · 27/02/2011 13:56

I reccomend foodfocus.co.uk for working out your BMR, cool graphs, food log/diary and excersise log too.

I've lost 20lb in 7 weeks just keeping track with it, it's fab!

TotallyandUtterly · 27/02/2011 21:31

I'll check it out.

I'm going to go for the whole meal bread and egg plan tomorrow. I'm not actually good with wheat. I previously cut it out and lost 5 stone but I LOVE bread so could do with finding like a non-wheat bread really.

Dosey · 27/02/2011 21:43

hi there, I am planning on starting a fresh tomorrow. I have done my pack up and for tomorrow I will be having

breakfast - readybrek with semi skimmed milk with a glass of hot water & lemon
midmorning snack - green tea with apple and cherry toms
lunch - 4 ryvita with low fat spread and homemade butternutsquash and red onion soup
afternoon snack - green tea with banana and grapes.
tea - pasta and bolognaise. All homemade with a small portion and pasta.

I will bike to work, use the stairs and have a walk at lunchtime. For me its all about cutting out chocolate, sweets and crisps because once I start eating these I cant stop!!

foreverondiet · 27/02/2011 22:06

totally&utterly i think kingmill just launched an oatbread, haven't tried it: but here:

link

Another option might be low carb, eg pig to twig as no carbs (including wheat) on that diet?

Meggles76 · 27/02/2011 22:35

Was horrified when shopping and trying on clothes today. Kid myself that I am still an 8 - 10 (am only 5ft). Couldn't get the size 10 dress I wanted for a wedding fastened Sad. No way am buying a 12.
So new regine starts tomorrow

Cereal and fruit juice for breakfast
apple mid morning
pitta, carrot sticks and hummous for lunch
rice cakes mid afternoon
and chicken salad for supper

thinspiration Please!!!

thenewmestarts · 27/02/2011 23:45

I need to lose 3 stone but a shorter term goal is to lose 10pound for 8 April when im going to a family wedding. I started zumba a few weeks ago which is fun and im going to aqua arobics tommorow night but i need to do something about the amount i eat. I tend to eat for energy but im know im eating the wrong things and too much of it.

Im doing a shop tommorrow and plan on getting only heathly food. My DH lost some weight recently eating 6 small meals a day so aim to try that. Will post a food plan after i have done the shop.

Hopefuly posting here will help me stay on track, any advice aprreciated, im vegi so my DH's food plan will not be any good for me.

thenewmestarts · 27/02/2011 23:57

Just looked at foodfocus.co.uk looks good

Dosey · 28/02/2011 11:19

cant believe it, started off so so well, got to work and there is a massive tin of chocs and cookies at the end of my row of desks. So far I have had 5 chocs and a cookie. Is this really bad. Please send some inspiration for me so i dont have a handful one every time I walk by!!!

foreverondiet · 28/02/2011 14:06

dosey because i weight everything and logg and don't have scales at work its another reason not to eat at work, and also all my colleagues know about diet so if I reached for the cake they'll comment in some way.

tibni · 28/02/2011 15:00

Stop away from the chocolates Dosey - after the first couple they don't taste as good anyway, honest!

I have the same at work - there is a culture of taking biscuits in on each shift. I didn't eat many biscuits before I took on this latest post.

Went to the gym and faced the scales - not as bad as I was expecting. Over the weekend I cut out the extra snacks and thought about my portion size.

I am vegetarian and tend to eat too many carbs (and lazy carbs at that - grabbing white toast for quickness between jobs etc). I need to get back into a good routine with food and then I know I can get my tone back.

Dosey · 01/03/2011 09:39

Hi, well I managed to eat ten chocolates yesterday Blush but I am going to have a good day today. I have got my food planned for the day and its all good. The chocolate tin at work has gone down loads and only the rubbish ones are left so I wont be so tempted today. I have had my ready brek sprinkled with sunflower and pumpkin seeds and a glass of hot water and ginger for my breakfast. I am on my fourth cup of green tea. So far so good. The sun is out too which is always a positive sign for a good day.

tibni · 01/03/2011 11:48

Good will power Dosey.

I did really well yesterday, just 1 blip when my ds (severe ASD) decided the family all needed supper. He sent the table and made the food for everyone - amazing empathy and sharing - so I could not resist the fresh bread Blush

Good day so far!

TotallyandUtterly · 02/03/2011 18:48

Hi all. I've actually done well today so far. Although evening is the real test. My shopping will be delivered tomorrow and then it might all be a little easier!

Dosey- I totally agree, when the sun shines, dieting is soooooo much easier!!

OP posts:
TotallyandUtterly · 05/03/2011 09:09

Ok so how's everyone doing?

I got our big shop yesterday so plenty of healthy things in to eat but REALLy cannot face breakfast... d'ya reckon it's ok to skip it?

OP posts:
smellmycheese · 05/03/2011 09:32

Hi, can I join you?

I've managed to lose 1 stone 11pound so far, but still have 3 stone to go! Getting to that stage where weight loss has started slowing down and my motivation is waning.

Was following WW for a long time, which was great, but for Christmas I asked for some personal training sessions. My parents, DP and DB put together and bought me 12 sessions with a trainer! Honestly, It's been the best present I have ever had! Over a stone of my weight loss has been since new year when I started with her. I know it's quite expensive and so not for everyone, but if you are in a position to give it a try I def would!

Food wise I still do struggle to be honest. I still follow WW, but dont go to the meetings anymore as can't afford both those and the PT. I would have lost a lot more by now if I had a bit more will power! I'm OK till the weekend and then puddings and alcohol get the better of me! Am trying to make up for this flaw by cutting back a little more during the week and excersising every day.

Got weigh in today before my training session so I'll let you know how I get on this week. Got spinning, followed by gym session...wish me luck!

Have a good, healthy day everyone!

TotallyandUtterly · 06/03/2011 07:23

Of course you can. Well done on the 1stone 11. I'm doing a mix od WW, slimfast and good old healthy diet. I had a good day yesterday- ate breakfast, dinner, snack, tea, snack all low cal and my tummy looks less bloated today so the inspiration has begun.

I usually find I eat:

dinner, tea, snack snack snack... and my portions are too big.

How's everyone managing? Any weight loss yet?

OP posts:
smellmycheese · 07/03/2011 12:59

Hi, i lost a pound, which I was a bit disappointed with as been working so hard! Still, going to keep going strong and hope I see more results next week.

Saturday was not such a good day. I went out with a friends and got v drunk on cocktails! poss the worst drinks for weight loss! Still, I did at least manage not to have a curry at 3 am like I normally do.

Hope you're all doing ok.

TotallyandUtterly · 08/03/2011 10:32

Well done :) I daren't weigh myself... suppose I should :(

I've stopped eating bread and the bloating in my tummy has gone down loads! Really pleased.

Really wanting to lose 1.5 stone by 23rd April for a Wedding. Is that even possible??
