Only advice I would give is buy a decent one. I bought mine about 10 years ago, paid a lot of money for it (it's of gym standard and big). I no longer have it (gave up and have now joined a gym) but my father still has it and it's going strong.

I would get the best you can afford and one with a motorised belt.

Thank you, that is very helpful.

Don't bother, it will be gathering dust in your garage before you know it, you'd be better off just walking quickly outside as much as you can, not taking the car or bus if possible.

Can I ask why you need one? (I noticed on another thread that things were a bit tight). Most people who have then hardly use them, me included, Grin and as Spring is round the corner, why not get out and walk. It's better for you and will save you £500, which is the minimum it will cost for a decent one.

Yes, it will be paid for out of other money.

The hospital doctor has recommended I get one.

DH also wants one.

What do you need it for? DH has a cross trainer, which he uses. It's much more gentle on the joints and can exercise the arms too.
Cross trainer is by Kettler, bought from John Lewis. Used by big husband 5 days a week for 4 years. Have needed a new control panel which JL sorted out for free.

I will also look at cross trainers too, thank you for that information.
