What's the Best Diet for a Gluttonous Git?

Help! Over the past 3 months I have managed to put on half a stone and am at the heaviest I've been in a very long time.
I'm 5'5'' and weigh 9st 10lb. Over the past couple of years I've hovered around the 9st 3/4 lb mark and been happy with it.
However I do seem to be turning into a greedy pig who likes to stuff her face with rubbish, tasty rubbish mind you. My self- discipline seems to have disappeared and to me, until you tell me otherwise, Everything Tastes Better than Trying to Get Slim Feels.
On the upside, I have started Zumba and bought the Davina DVD. So my hearts in the right place.....
Any ideas about the right diet to shift half a stone for someone currently on the Seafood Diet - I see it, I eat it Grin

Weight Watchers is good as you can eat TONNES as long as it's the right thing.

foreverondiet · 21/02/2011 10:46

Only buy vegetables?

Eat home made fat free soup & salad before each meal.
Drink diet sprite/coke between meals.

CDMforever · 21/02/2011 18:27

Like the home made soup idea. Have a hand blender left over from days of weaning.
Will give it a go. And try try try to abstain from creme eggs...........

If you're going down the veg soup route, better buy an airfreshener too, from personal experience!

Low GL diet? You have to have am and pm snack, so it suits me, as I like to eat all the time.

CDMforever · 21/02/2011 22:04

What does GL stand for?

Slimming World - you can eat loads - an its not ALL veg!!!

thx1138 · 24/02/2011 17:14

I would also recommend Low GL diet. It stands for Glycaemic Load and is slighty different to the low GI diet (glycaemic index). I used the Patrick Holford Low GL diet book and lost 2 stone. One year after starting the diet I have not put the weight back on. I never, ever felt hungry or deprived on this diet.

MrsPennySworth · 24/02/2011 19:34

Would second slimming world for eating as much as you want of a lot if foods, it does work and keeps you full.

LakeFlyPie · 24/02/2011 19:38

I'm a terrible glutton and Slimming World worked for me.
Was simple to follow / plan meals and was never hungry Smile

CDMforever · 25/02/2011 19:48

Thanks all, will muse on your ideas...whilst tucking into a kitkat Grin

Paul McKenna - you can eat anything you like whenever you like. And it really works.

Are you really heavy enough for a "proper" diet or is it just a few pounds?

At the moment I am at my heaviest at 11st6 and 5ft10. To be honest this sounds huge, but I'm a 10's top and 12's bottom.

I also lack will power and really just need to cut down and tone up! Especially my thighs.

What I'm trying to do at the moment is just not buy crap. I know for a fact if I have it in I will eat it, but if it's not there then hey presto - weight loss (hopefully). The money I would spend on a slimming club I can save up to get some new jeans! I also need to exercise, but am currently waiting for treatment on my back so it's impossible at the moment. I do know it makes all the diference though.

Good luck with davina. I'd be interested to know if it's any good?

dinkystinky · 25/02/2011 20:08

Get rid of the crap from your house so you have less temptation to biff out. When you want to eat something between meals, have a glass of water or herbal tea first and then assess if you're still hungry - alot of times you're thirsty rather than hungry. And keep upping the exercise, but dont reduce the food, and you'll get back to your ideal weight easily.

If you're a glutton, I'd go for Atkins. Think of all the fry-ups, fillet steak with mushroom cream sauce - get the picture?

You actually haven't got that much to lose and it could be done in a few weeks, so eat sensibly. I suggest you eat proper meals. Have a decent breakfast (scrambled eggs on toast), snack on fruit/ yoghurt and if you have to have chocolate, have mini-size ones. By increasing your exercise, you'll burn more calories.

Good luck, x

Thanx all. What Ive actually been doing for the past 3 days is not eating between meals or after 6pm and really cutting down on my portions. I've lost 4 pounds, I can't believe it but I guess that shows how much I was eating before!
