Fit February

Titsandteeth · 30/01/2011 06:45

Hi all

I'm gonna do Fit February again this year. It basically means committing to a month (Feb so a short month) of health and sobriety in order to greet March by feeling and, of course, looking fabulous.

Can I persuade anyone to join me?

In my case it means . . .

No alcohol
No Tea
No Coffee
No Sugar
No Meat (am usually a meat eater)

Lots of Exercise
Lots of Sleep
Lots of Water
Lots of Fruit
Lots of Vegetables
Lots of Books, music, dancing, laughing, socialising, films, happiness and less telly.

I also want to shift some weight and would welcome my skin getting clearer and my eyes less baggy.

I currently weigh 60.5kg or 9st 7 1/4 lbs. Which for someone of my lack of height makes me pretty portly. I'm only 5' 2".

I want to be under 9 stone by March - preferably waayyyyyyy under 9 stone.

I also want to have more energy, be less grumpy with dh and the kiddies and generally have rediscovered my mojo.

I also want other people to do it with so it would be great if you join in!

Well, compared to me you are uber skinny! Envy but I'll still join if may.

January has been a total write off due to a severe infection, still on antibiotics. But basically I am aiming to lose a couple of stone over the next six months, as we'd like to consider TTCing again, maybe - also on a mission to get the house tidied and save money in our ISAs.

Anyway... DD is at preschool every day so that's 4 miles a day, and I downloaded a free pedometer on my iPhone :o

Also found out about exercise classes at a local gym which cost £4.50 for non members!

I don't drink or smoke and don't really have caffeine, my only vice is snacking... I'm still working on that Blush

I'm 15st btw, want to get under 13 as my first big goal. We are off on an activity-heavy holiday in April so would love to be fitter for that, and OMG my friend asked me to be her bridesmaid next year! :)

Titsandteeth · 30/01/2011 08:18

Hurrah hello FreudianSlippery. Welcome welcome welcome.

Sorry to hear about the grim January, poor you. But the walking sounds good - 4 miles a day is amazing.

We have two days left of excuses to motivate ourselves, but I'm going to try and not drink alcohol and up my fruit and veg, before going hard core on Tuesday.

I need to find out about exercise classes round here. I can walk the dog daily (if dh doesn't mind not doing it) but nothing else really.

Hello - I am going to be joining you in Feb - want to lose about 3/4 stone by end of July. We are going on holiday (the first time in a plane for my 11 year old) for the first time (and prob last too!)without my severely autistic son (he's 7) and I am so looking forward to a holiday where I can do what other mums do; reading books, chilling out by a pool (impossible if DS2 was there). I really want to get in shape for it - or at least feel a little better about myself.Smile

Titsandteeth · 30/01/2011 08:42

Brilliant, what a fantastic thing to look forward to Stillenacht. You're in the right place, 3/4 of a stone in 6 months is a doddle Grin

OP posts:
stillenacht · 30/01/2011 08:45

lol I wish it was 3/4 of a stone - its 3 to 4 stone!!!! (am around 15 and a half at mo - blaming 7 years of comfort eating since DS2 was born/diagnosed/heartbreak etc etc) Grin

Lollypolly · 30/01/2011 08:57

Fantastic idea t&t, can I join?

Stillenacht, great motivation for losing weight and such a lovely holiday to look forward to!

I lost post baby weight last year on strict diet and acupuncture - put on a couple of kilos over Xmas and need to lose them. Fighting (another) losing battle with WW - don't know why I went back because pointing has never worked for me - must have joined about 6 times in the past.

Need to get back to the acupuncture diet which is basically lots of veg, little fruit, 120g lean protein a day and low fat dairy. No wheat, sugar, fat, alcohol, grains, pulses, potatoes, pork (too fatty). Very strict, but designed by a nutritionist and effective (and I can still drink coffee!!!). Count me in!

Titsandteeth · 30/01/2011 08:57

Oh ok Grin no problem at all! You'll do it easy peasy.

What are you going to do exercise/food wise?

OP posts:
stillenacht · 30/01/2011 09:02

I am such a yo yo dieter - but last diet was when DS2 was born and when he developed epilepsy (at 9mos) I sort of lost the motivation.

I was 9st 3 when I got married (14 years ago)- but really dieted to get there - naturally I am about 11 and a half - but after pregnancy of DS1 (where I ate EVERYTHING!!!) I was 18 stone - so my poor body has seen it all!! I am going to walk a lot more, limit my calorie intake to 1500 then 1250 and then on last half stone to 1000 a day. I also intend to use the new gym at work when it is completed (very soon hopefully)!

Titsandteeth · 30/01/2011 09:04

Lollypolly, hurrah another one, ace. I lovelovelove acupuncture, am a total and utter fan after using it to conceive. The diet sounds great, you'll have lost those kilos in no time following that.

stillenacht, my dear darling nephew is autistic and almost the same age as your son. It's an absolute bloody shock and bloody hard work. You poor thing. Still onward and upward here, think how wonderful you'll feel on that beach with your skin glowing and able to read in the sunshine. bliss.

Right, as i'm in a different timezone I'm off to have dinner - steamed prawns, salmon and salad. It's been horrifically hot here all day (42 degrees) so need a long cold drink - NOT wine.

OP posts:
stillenacht · 30/01/2011 09:08

Oooo sounds lovely - enjoy TandT - ooo lovely hot weather too - its brrrrr here! Smile

Lollypolly · 30/01/2011 09:13

Where are you T&T - I'm in Singapore so cooking dinner for the kids (it's 5pm) and it's been raining for about 3 days so 25Cish. Have a great dinner and evening.

PS meant to say I have to re-lose those couple of kg and another 10 or so Grin

Chandon · 30/01/2011 09:14

This is right up my street!

After the Christmas extravaganza (too much food and drink, no exercise). I have started doing an hour exercise 4 times a day, and more sensible eating.

As I am very very tall, and sporty (ish) and have a fast metabolism, I need to somehow eat a lot, yet shift some fat

(6ft1, 12 Stone 7, I know it sounds horrific, but I wear size 12-14, would like to fit into my size 12 trousers again.

I have cut back alcohol to 1-2 glasses a week
I do exercise 4 times (would like to do 5)
I will eat more healthily

would like to lose 5 or 6 pounds, but cannot see that happening really Sad it seems that being 40 and having ahd to babies DOES take its toll...

stillenacht · 30/01/2011 09:14

12 stone 7 sounds lovely Smile

Chandon · 30/01/2011 09:15

Not 4 times a DAY (that would be bonkers), non no no, 4 times a WEEK.

This is what caffeine deprivation does to my mind Confused

Titsandteeth · 30/01/2011 09:32

Hi chandon, welcome and huzzah to being 40 with small kids. I'm 42 and have a 3 and 5 yr old. I'm definitely feeling that my metabolism is slowing down which is a bummer.

Lollypolly I'm in Australia, not in a flooded bit thankfully. V hot here at the moment so easy to eat salads but tricky to get out and exercise in 40 plus heat.

Good morning T&T and all ladies on this thread!
Would love to join you.
Have posted some of my story under a thread on this board called "Had enough of Slimming World".
Am a member of a gym where I actually enjoy exercising; it has a pool too where I like to swim.
So why's it so hard to get motivated? The hardest part is getting to the gym and through the door!
I also have a copy - unwatched - of the (in)famous "Shred" DVD so will be giving that a go.
No more excuses!
I was 52 yesterday and am 5ft9ins tall weighing about 11st - not massive I know but creeping from UK size 12 towards 14 and need to get a grip.
Finding at my age (menopausal too) that extra pounds have become increasingly hard to shift.
So very glad to join you in your campaign...

izquierda · 30/01/2011 13:30

I meant good afternoon! Have only just got up! It was a good birthday.....Grin

PatTheHammer · 30/01/2011 19:36

Hi Ladies,

I would like to join you all as looking for some motivation.
I am 5foot 5 and weigh 11 stone 7, I was only 11 stone before Christmas thoughBlush. Before then I had lost 20 pounds from using food focus and swimming/walking.
My ideal goal would be 9 stone 7 (what I was before 2 DC's when I got married) so I still have quite a way to go.

So I started Aqua-aerobics a few weeks ago and been going for a short run once a week but I really need to up the exercise as I have been cutting ou the crap from my diet but noticing no difference and I really don't want to go back to calorie control.

Anyway, today I did a circuits class (gulp) and although I didn't quite die it was a close callGrin.

So my plan for February is:

No cakes/Chocolate
Less Bread and Pasta
Less Alcohol
Circuits/Aqua-aerobics/run and one other exercise a week (thinking Body Balance or maybe a swim depending on spare cash).

I can join the Gym for £28 a month and do unlimited classes but I just don't think I could fit them in as I work 3.5 days a week, have 2 young children and Mine and DH's evenings are pretty busy. Think I'll see how it goes!

Izquierda- Really tempted by the shred DVD, let me know how it goes, its only about 6 quid on amazon!

Titsandteeth · 31/01/2011 00:20

Hi everyone and welcome izquierda and Patthehammer.

Well although it's not February yet, I'm counting this as DAY ONE. I feel really really grumpy.

I've taken the dog for a walk (5ks) and not had my morning tea or coffee (perhaps that's why I'm feeling like such a misery guts).

It's the end of the summer hols here and dd1 has gone back to school to resounding cheers all round. Whilst combing her hair this morning I found nits, so have been mugging up on nit treatment. And washing all bedding, toys etc. Yuck yuck yuck.

Izquierda I know exactly what you mean with the motivation thing. It's so much easier to sit on the sofa eating crisps. I've always found that I need to FORCE myself to go for the first week or so then I start to like it and find it easy. I too want to try the shred dvd, gonna look it up on Amazon and see how long it'll take to get here.

JaquiChanFeelsBlue · 31/01/2011 08:23

My January has been the worst ever in so many ways and mainly wine fuelled.

I am nearly 11 stone and only 5ft 3 Blush Sad. Oh, and I usually join threads and then forget about them Blush Sad.

izquierda · 31/01/2011 10:56

Morning everyone and welcome to the new ladies
I am off to the gym shortly - it is bitterly cold here and the last thing I feel like doing is taking my clothes off but needs must!
Will be warmer than walking outside.
My DH has joined a local gym and is going there too today so this is a slight motivator for me, keeping up with him.
Know just what you mean though T&T, very easy to get bogged down with domestic chores but well done for getting a walk in early!
Maybe I need to borrow a dog??

Joby1970 · 31/01/2011 13:14

for the ladies who are thinking about doing the SHRED - DO IT!! it's amazing - you can really lose inches!
